About Sue German

My husband's parents had owned the cottage for 20 years and we had always enjoyed vacationing up there and fell in love with living on the lake. We purchased the cottage in 2011 and made it our own by updating it extensively. An addition put on many years ago makes this place very family-friendly. It is now a year round cottage and available for winter rental also. We have 3 sons who love the northwoods fun of boating, fishing, swimming and campfires. We travel to our cottage whenever we are able within our busy schedules and are ready to share our cottage with your family.

Why Sue German chose Northeast

Three bedroom plus a pull out couch invites a large family to enjoy our place. Washer and dryer on premise for your use. If you are looking for a peaceful retreat to relax and catch up on your sleep, you have come to the right spot. Our open- concept decluttered and clean cottage is ready for you.

What makes this cottage unique

Our cottage is affordable because we do not have the full-frontage like pricier places. Our cottage sits side by side to another cottage and has amazing views. Our pier has room for you to bring your boat if you want to. Easy gentle slope and steps away to our pier for boating, fishing or just watching the lake. Enjoy your dinner in our seasonal screened-in garage or grab a book and recline back in one of the recliners for a bug-free read while you listen to the dusk tranquil sounds of the northwoods while keeping an eye on the day-ending lake action. A budget-friendly vacation opportunity.

Great house, great location

  • 5 of 5

Perfectly located house, less than 5 minutes to dt Eagle River, on a quiet dead-end street with lake access. House itself is very spacious and clean with a nice screened in garage to enjoy the evenings. Homeowners were very accommodating and maintained great communication, would definitely stay again!

chain cottage

  • 5 of 5

We had a very nice time. We were able to enjoy the lakes daily and they were gracious enough to let us rent the pontoon a day extra so my elderly mother could enjoy the lakes with us. The area was very quiet and the cottage was clean and met all our needs.

Great relaxing location

  • 4 of 5

I was raised in the Eagle River area and we visit regularly so we have had the opportunity to stay at many different places over the the last 25 years. I am happy to say that from a value stand point this was one of the best. The cabin is clean, well kept and offers about everything you really need for the traditional north woods experience. The living room and kitchen are large and comfortable but we really liked the screened in garage area which is great for early morning coffee, reading a book, or a game of cards. There is also a nice fire pit area but you will need to find/bring your own wood. We also enjoyed the basketball hoop and the nice paved driveway. It would be nice to have wi-fi and satelite available.

Even though the cabin is very close to the T-docks boat ramp is is surprisingly quite and secluded tucked in the bay out of the main channel. It offers great access to both the chain and town. The only drawback this is the weeds in this area of the lake. They are very thick, even making it difficult to fish from the dock and it would not be an area you would want to swim. For those looking to swim, Silver Lake public beach is a short walk or better yet head to the beach at Eagle Lake Park just down the chain. Great sandy area to pull your boats into also. The cabin has abundant wildlife with deer traveling through daily, loons, ducks, and an eagle nest located on the point of the bay. Bring your camera.

The shore area worked great for allowing us to beach our jet skis and not have to worry about having them get banged up on the dock or daily pulled out of the water. We did take advantage of the available pontoon which was very nice and also in very good condition. There is also enough room to bring your own boat if you wish.

The owners impressed me as good honest people, there were no surprises and we will likely stay again.

Great getaway

  • 5 of 5

The renters are so nice and accommodating! This rental was very spacious for our family stay with great beds (very comfortable). It was clean and we loved the screened in garage. There is also a spacious green area in front of the property for games. Everything was great, but we wish there wasn't tons of weeds along the water so we could swim. The public swimming was within walking distance though! Great place for a getaway!

Public boat launch is located on our bay Access is 1/4 mile away from cottage on N. Dyer Park St. A bit of history: Our Yellow Birch Lake bay is also known as the 'Bull Pen'. In the logging era of the early 1990's, bay was used for holding logs until ready to be floated to town and transported to mills. Popular waters for serious fishermen. Any given evening, fishermen will tuck their boats as close to our pier hoping to catch fish in the calm water.
