About Sue German

My husband's parents had owned the cottage for 20 years and we had always enjoyed vacationing up there and fell in love with living on the lake. We purchased the cottage in 2011 and made it our own by updating it extensively. An addition put on many years ago makes this place very family-friendly. It is now a year round cottage and available for winter rental also. We have 3 sons who love the northwoods fun of boating, fishing, swimming and campfires. We travel to our cottage whenever we are able within our busy schedules and are ready to share our cottage with your family.

Why Sue German chose Eagle River

Three bedroom plus a pull out couch invites a large family to enjoy our place. Washer and dryer on premise for your use. If you are looking for a peaceful retreat to relax and catch up on your sleep, you have come to the right spot. Our open- concept decluttered and clean cottage is ready for you.

What makes this cottage unique

Our cottage is affordable because we do not have the full-frontage like pricier places. Our cottage sits side by side to another cottage and has amazing views. Our pier has room for you to bring your boat if you want to. Easy gentle slope and steps away to our pier for boating, fishing or just watching the lake. Enjoy your dinner in our seasonal screened-in garage or grab a book and recline back in one of the recliners for a bug-free read while you listen to the dusk tranquil sounds of the northwoods while keeping an eye on the day-ending lake action. A budget-friendly vacation opportunity.

Public boat launch is located on our bay Access is 1/4 mile away from cottage on N. Dyer Park St. A bit of history: Our Yellow Birch Lake bay is also known as the 'Bull Pen'. In the logging era of the early 1990's, bay was used for holding logs until ready to be floated to town and transported to mills. Popular waters for serious fishermen. Any given evening, fishermen will tuck their boats as close to our pier hoping to catch fish in the calm water.

Great location and good people to work with.

The home is on the older side but is always clean (We have stayed here 4 years in a row). The landlord is always easy to deal with and always attentive to any issues. I would recommend this property to anyone who needs a place to stay in the area.

Very comfortable north woods home on Yellow Birch Lake

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at this property for a long fishing weekend. This is the second time we stayed here, and plan to return again. We found the property very comfortable with a nice north-woods feeling. The owners are very cooperative and friendly. Our deposit was returned in whole very promptly. We would recommend this property for fishing vacations.

Great space, great location.

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay. The home is clean and comfy. We had a lot of rain so we couldn't enjoy the outdoors this year, but the interior kept us busy. We loved the garage hang out space, we were able to have a nice family get together and we had plenty of space. Thank you again!

The property was clean and had everything we needed for our stay.

  • 5 of 5

The house is located in a bay (Bull Pen) on Yellow Birch Lake. The bay is great for fishing. We caught bass, bluegills, and perch right from the pier. We also rented kayaks and paddle boards from Wildwood Outdoor Adventures. The bay protected us from the boat traffic and our kids loved it. I highly recommend this property.

Quiet relaxing vacation home

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic vacation at the cottage with our 2 adult children. The cottage was clean, spacious and comfortable for the 4 of us and it had everything we needed. With the cottage being located in the back of the bay, there wasn't a lot of pleasure craft traffic right in front of us which was nice, made it a little quieter.

Twin fawns and their mother, as well as other deer visited us daily, which my wife really enjoyed, and looked forward to the visits. We also saw eagles and loons every day, and even had a turtle cross the road by the stream that's adjacent to the property.

The fishing was good, but not great, which was probably due to all of the rain so far this year. My son caught 2 really nice small mouths (19" 3.5 lb and 18" 2.75 lb) off the north most peninsula on the east side of the lake and a northern right off of the dock at the cottage. We also caught a bunch of perch and bluegill, but most were to small to keep.

Sue was great to deal with, and always responded to emails or texts in a timely manner. We would definitely stay again!

Thanks for sharing your place with us!

To start with Sue was great to work with and was quick to respond to questions. The property couldn't have provided us with a better experience then was had. Everything necessary for a week stay on the lake was on site. Our kids had a blast fishing and boating on the Eagle River chain. We will definitely look to book this property again for future stays..
