About Janet Peterson
We are retired now but our Tahoe Donner cabin was purchased as a retreat for our busy family. We still live a busy life on a small ranch in the Sierra foothills where daily chores are unrelenting. Our cabin is designed for easy living, comfort and no fuss. It depicts the lifestyle we enjoy and hope you do too. Our family is passionate about animals of all kinds. Our property allows us to accommodate animals that need a rural environment. To date 8 goats, 2 donkeys, 4 horses, 4 dogs, 2 cats, 5 chickens and one button quail have made their home with us and these are only the domestic ones. Our wildlife visitors include an adolescent bear, dozens does with new fawns and one snake for rodent control. Talk to us about animals, the outdoors or the challenges of a rural lifestyle and you will know everything about us.

Why Janet Peterson chose Truckee
The location is all about fun and convenience! We love the year-round activities offered by Tahoe Donner and we use all of them. Winter skiing, especially for kids, is easy to get to but Squaw Valley, Northstar, Homewood, Kirkwood and Heavenly Valley are nearby. Donner Lake is minutes away and has a private beach and marina for Tahoe Donner quests. This lake is wonderful for fishing, water skiing, windsurfing, kayaking, and the sunsets are wonderful. The town of Truckee is 'just down the hill' where restaurants and shopping are wonderful. The Tahoe Donner community offers multiple swimming pools, workout facility, golf course and club house restaurant, horseback riding, mountain biking, hiking, and summer camps for kids of all ages.
What makes this House unique
We have loads of board and card games for the kids and two separate outdoor decks for enjoying your morning coffee, afternoon naps or evening bbqs. The split level floor plan keeps the living room well separated from the family/activity room so that peace and quite can be offered upstairs while movies, games, and snacks are underway downstairs

living good in the woods
We stayed for six weeks and loved it. The house is located in a safe, low density neighborhood about 5 minutes from shopping and 10 minutes from old town Truckee. The main floor is accessed via stairs; the main floor having a full, modern kitchen, a dining area with setting for four, 3 bedrooms with queen beds, a full bathroom, and a living room with a large, cable ready tv. The house has central heating and air conditioning and a fireplace in the living room. The WIFI and internet had a very strong signal and we experienced no problems using it. There is even a phone supplied for local and long distance calls.
The downstairs which is accessed by stairs has a set of bunk beds which sleeps two, a full bathroom, a small wet bar with refrigerator, small living room with a cable ready tv and a very large capacity washer and dryer.
There is a barbecue and chairs on a large deck that wraps around half of the house. There is parking for two sedans in a drive way in front of the house.
The owners were very friendly and were quick to respond to our requests.
We recommend this place to everyone and would return for another visit.
Cons: there is no covered parking.
Tahoe Donner is a wonderful, family oriented community with every bit of emphasis placed on activities. Young or old, you will find your place on the golf course, fishing local lakes, hiking, biking, tennis, water sports galore and world class skiing. Your family can go in multiple directions and never be more than 20 minutes from home.
South Lake Tahoe (1 hr drive) and Reno (45 min drive) have live shows, concerts, casinos, more restaurants, golf courses, shopping.
