This cozy cabin is located on 5 1/2 shaded, totally private acres on Lake Sam Rayburn. The cabin sits back on the lot so there is no lake view; however, it is only a short walk down the wooded trail to the lake. The interior was completely remodeled in the summer of 2013. Amenities include a flat screen TV in the living room and each bedroom, a fire pit for roasting marshmallows and s'mores as well as games such as badminton, horseshoes, washers, and ladders. You also have access to a 3 man canoe and a non-motorized Jon boat for fishing in the cove. For the fisherman, there is a stainless steel fish cleaning station next to the cabin. While we do offer the cabin to those hunting in the Angelina Forest, no hunting or target practice is allowed on the property. If you bring your boat, you can conveniently launch it at Powell Park Marina which is located only a couple of miles away. After a fun filled day pulling skiers/tubes or fishing, you can tie up your boat to the property (providing lake level is at or above 160 elevation). If you do not bring a boat, you can easily rent one at Powell Park Marina. Powell Park also rents tubes, skis, knee boards, etc. as well as jet skis. The marina also has a sandy beach and an Aqua Park that can be used by day visitors who pay a fee. If no boat, you can also grab a rod and reel (bring your own bait and tackle) off the rack in the dining room and fish from the floating dock or from the canoe! OR just grab a book and hang out in the hammocks, on the rockers on the screened-in porch or the comfortable log chairs around the fire pit and do nothing but relax!
When the water level is down, Powell Park marina is less than 3 miles away and on a deep cove. They offer covered boat slips for daily rental fee. Powell Park Marina also sells fuel both on land and on the water. Powell Park also has a convenience store and café that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Please call owners if you have any questions.
We live in the area and purchased the cabin to create some memories and share the property with responsible guests to do the same with their families.
Brent Walker purchased this cabin in 2016
One of the greatest fishing and recreational lakes in Texas.
Private waterfront property in one of the best areas of the lake for fishing.
If you are looking for quiet beautiful scenery, this is it. The area is secluded and the cabin offers more to do, or not do, than you can imagine. My husband said if we had come here first, we wouldn't have gone to the other places. There are so many places to walk or sit & enjoy the scenery & seclusion. My husband fished daily & was able to keep the bass boat at the dock except for the last 2 days, he beached it a few yards up the cove on the property. We agree with all the wonderful amenities others have mentioned. The only negative is the brush that has grown up near the dock. The dock is usually a favorite place for me. However, since Rayburn is a Corp of Engineer lake, Im sure it is quite a struggle to make changes there. Big Sam Rayburn is a beautiful lake and this property matches it. If you could build a dock with a boat house, we would have chosen to retire here.
The cabin was very nice & clean. Lots of extras such as fish cleaning station, screened in deck, deck with picnic tables & grill.
The cabin was stocked with every pot, pan, utensil, DVD, Wii, TV needed!
The only thing that could have been better is the dock could have been bigger and situated better so it could be fished from. We would have liked to be able to sit on the dock in the evenings and enjoyed the lake.
I took two of my grown sons there for a week of fishing and re-connection. A success all around! I'm planning my next trip maybe in the Spring. The cabin has all the amenities and comforts.
Loved this cabin in the woods! Lots of room outside to spread out and have fun. The cabin inside was cozy and decorated so cute. Loved all the metal signs hanging everywhere. The kitchen was stocked with all the necessities we needed for cooking. Loved sitting out on the screened in porch reading and relaxing. As soon as I got there I couldn't wait to go back! Would love to come during cooler weather so we can enjoy the fire pit.
Decor of the cabin is perfect. Complete with rocking chairs, fans overhead and outdoor furniture to relax on the screened in porch. Coffee on the porch was a favorite every morning! Inside had everything you needed from home, comfortable beds, air conditioning, big screen TVs, complete kitchen. On the deck outside are umbrellas and picnic tables near the barque pit. Hammocks to lounge in, fire pits and a short walk to a dock on the lake, to fish off of or go canoeing in their canoe and row boat that we did many times site seeing the lake. Endless games if you have children. To end your beautiful day, hot water and soft towels. We loved our stay!
The owners of this cabin have done a more than perfect job!
Cabin and property were as advertised. Everything was in great shape and we caught a lot of fish right of there dock. Kids had a great time on the canoe. Best part was no internet, my kids actually had to spend time outdoors exploring and fishing. Would definitely book again.
Melissa and her husband provide almost everything inside and outside of the cabin. Games to play at night, hammocks to chill in, fire pit, etc.
The cabin is located on at the end of quiet cove in the Angelina National Forest. Broaddus and Pineland are the nearest towns, both about 20 minutes away. The nearest larger towns are Jasper and Lufkin, both are about 50 minutes away.
