Doug & Sharon Harbin purchased this house in 2012
The house has been remodeled and updated throughout. All the modern conveniences of the main land are included in the house. Did we mention, the reverse osmosis water purification system? Clean, pure and odorless water for you and your party. If you have ever been to Goat Island and visited a property without it, you know what I mean.
Goat Island offers a peaceful serenity unlike any other coastal location in South Carolina. You will be amazed with the property and location while enjoying all the modern amenities of the mainland but with noise and hassle of traffic. The attention to detail is amazing and the property is always be cleaned and updated.
ACCESSIBLE BY BOAT ONLY. Scoot over to the mainland and retread back to the island in just minutes. Water sports (jet skis,para-sailing and banana boat rides) are just across the Intercoastal Waterway. Dining is available with temporary boat parking available at Morgan Creek Grill less than a half mile away.
This was the third time we have rented Goat Tales and it was just as awesome as ever. The layout of this house is absolutely perfect for two couples and four kids. There are two suites (one with a King, the other with a Queen) and then a great "Bunk Room" with beds to sleep four kids. Everyone has their own bathroom, which is another huge plus. Doug and Sherry are great and available to answer any questions. For two years in a row now, Doug has let us use his big pot and propane burner for a shrimp boil. (We even added crabs we caught off their dock with the crab traps!) Make sure to walk the mile or so path behind the house to see the whole island. We did this for the first time this year and it was a very unique experience! Everything about this house is wonderful. My only hesitation about writing this review is that the secret will get out! Until next time!...
Doug and his wife saved my wedding! I had booked another vacation rental the weekend of my wedding only to find out it was a scam the very day of. I was turned down by so many other places with no ahead notice time for booking, but when I talked to Doug he made it happen and took us in. He picked us up in his boat from the marina, which he latter showed us to use as the boat comes with the property. The house was gorgeous! Every room was beautifully decorated and the beds were incredibly comfortable to sleep on. The view the next day of the sunrise and sunset were breath taking. Doug and his wife were of constant help to us that weekend. When we later left and my husband forgot his protea able speaker Doug was quick to mail it to us. Never will forget that weekend, Doug and wife are lifesavers!
We stayed on goat island for my sons wedding. It was very nice, Doug did anything we needed. The house is plenty big for big family's . Great time !!
Thank you Doug & Sharon for sharing your wonderful home. We had a group of 7 guys who get together from all over the US each year for a boys fishing trip. It was my turn this year and I thought what fun to be actually on the water. We had 3 boats lots of provisions and a lot of hopes!
The house is perfectly placed and had every amenity you would need from WIFI to a low country boil pot.
The location is epic and you can be fishing in less than 5 minutes, obviously you need a boat or 2 but don't let that stop you!
Sitting on the outside porch at 7:30pm you cannot explain how quiet & peaceful the ICW was.
This is not just a rental but actually a home and you can tell, it is truely wonderful and we hope that Doug and Sharon will allow us back next year as apparently this is everybody's favorite spot from the last 15 years!
Great Location and excellent house for those looking to simply relax or get out on the water and do some fishing. This was a guy's fishing trip for us and the house was a perfect fit for what we were looking to do. House is located a short distance from the marina (if you need supplies) and has all of the amenities one needs to enjoy their stay. Loved the fact that the home had cooking pots, a grill, propane and everything else one might need to enjoy their stay. Doug and Sherry were excellent hosts and Doug even showed off his cooking side by baking us a Key Lime Pie! Would definitely recommend and will be back soon.
Just returned and the only regret is that we didn't stay longer. Doug and Sherry were great answering all my questions and very accommodating, even making us one of the best Key Lime pies ever. The house is well equipped with everything you need and there's so much to do. Nice beaches with no crowd. Our favorite part was watching the dolphins swim right in front of us while we relaxed on the beach. Close to Charleston for a day trip. One of my favorite trips and we will definitely be back!
