Why Joanne Solmundson chose Tucson & Southern Arizona

We were very impressed with the City of Tucson and its surrounding natural amenities. Coronado Place is a well-maintained resort-style complex which is professional managed and has the desired mix of owner-occupiers and resort users. In addition this particular townhome has an open layout with high ceilings and an attractive lookout to an attractive landscaped courtyard.

Clean, quiet and safe

All things that matter to me. This place filled our needs perfectly. It is well stocked and decorated and very clean when we arrived. The king bed was very comfortable. Bedding and towels were plush and plentiful. LOCATION! Close to everything and only minutes from even more places to eat and shop. We enjoyed being so close to Mt. Lemmon and San Sabino Canyon. Very quiet and safe. Enjoyed the wrap around balcony overlooking a court yard. Good, reliable wi-fi and cable. Lovely pool area and two Jacuzzi's. We enjoyed having assigned, covered parking. The grounds were well kept. Owners are wonderful to work with and respond to any questions quickly. Just note that the pool is not heated in the winter. I would recommend this place to friends and would stay here again.

There are some definitely nice things about this property, so I'm going to start there. First, the property looks JUST like the photos. It's cozy and manageable for two people. It is decorated beautifully and was very clean including all the appliances. Second, it is well furnished in the kitchen with cookware, appliances, dishes, etc. There is even salt, pepper and a small spice rack for your use. Third, there are PLENTY of bath towels which are clean and soft. Fourth, comfortable bed and bedding, plenty of pillows. Last, the location of the property is close to the pool, shopping (grocery, Target, etc just a few minutes away) and it is quiet. Lastly, the owner is quick to respond to any problems. We didn't have a pool key, there was an warning message on the thermostat that the filters needed to be changed, the toilet seat was loose (this didn't stay fixed) and there was no propane in the tank. We took care of getting the propane exchanged (we were in the middle of cooking dinner...isn't that always how that happens ?!?) and we were reimbursed with our security deposit and the handy man showed up the next day to take care of the problems.

So, here a few things you might want to know before you arrive. Coronodo Place is in need of some loving care. Things just need repair and maintenance - a little run down. For example, the stairs to the unit were once stucco/cement and have been randomly replaced with boards, another unit had paint buckets strewn about on the outside patio and an antennae just taped to one of the pillars. There are also signs posted for residents to pick up after their dogs and let's just say, people are ignoring them. There was a very odd, over powering smell in the unit. We thought changing out the furnace filters would help, but it didn't. Once you've been in the unit, you get "used" to it, but it's there every time you return. We stepped briefly into the community workout room (old, outdated and in need of loving care) and it had a similar smell. Other than that, the only other thing regarding the unit is the Ikea kitchen knives are all serrated and not particularly sharp. I had challenging time using them.

So, there are a lot of nice things about this property and some things that could make it better - unfortunately some are out of the owner's control. We were moving our son into the University of Arizona and while it's not particularly far in mileage it is all city streets so it took about 20 minutes to get there.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your comments. I have contacted the Home Owners Association for the complex and they are dealing with the pet issue as well as the paint cans as this is clearly against the complex standards. With regards to the odor in the condo, this is the first time anyone has brought this to our attention. I have checked with our current tenant and they have not noticed anything in the few weeks that they have been there. I believe this might have been just a musty smell associated with the heavy rainfall in July and August in Tucson. We will continue to monitor this to see if it is an issue again in the future. Thank you.

Nice unit in an extremely quite neighborhood.

  • 5 of 5

Well equipped unit on the east side of Tucson. It is an upstairs unit that we found to be extremely clean and well decorated. It is just off a main street but was very quiet. The location is actually very convenient. We didn't hear any sounds from any neighbors in 10 days!

The king bed was very comfortable and all the linens were plush.

We will stay here again.

Great condo for visiting Tucson and the surrounding canyon areas

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here the first week of December 2013. It is very conveniently located to local area shopping, and more importantly it is close to the Sabino Canyon area where we did a lot of hiking. The condo is newly furnished with new appliances, and has large TVs in the living room and the bedroom. Internet and cable access worked without a hitch. The unit had a large supply of linens and lots of kitchenware. It was a very nice to stay during our week in the Tucson area. Owners were very nice and easy to work with. Will definitely stay here again.
