Our home has a beautiful view of the beach and water. On a windy day you can hear the waves rolling in from our front porch. Pets are welcome and we have a fenced yard for their use. We have a 3 bedroom 3 bath home, with TV's in all of the bedrooms. There are beds for 6; there is a queen size air mattress and plenty of room for it in one of the upstairs bedrooms to increase the sleeping capacity to 8. The cable and internet provider is Mediacom. The internet connection is 15 mbps.
My wife and I were both born and raised in Houston, Texas and currently reside there. While growing up I spent many summers and vacations in the Waveland/Bay St Louis area as my dad was from New Orleans and had relatives living along the Mississippi Gulf Coast. I have numerous fond memories of spending summers crabbing, fishing and swimming at the beach with my cousins and making new friends with the people who lived there all year long. Even though my wife and I are now grandparents, it still makes me happy to see that the Waveland area has not changed that much from my childhood days. People are still friendly and will wave and say hello, the beaches are still clean, relaxing to walk on and go on for miles.
Ashman Mollere Realty, Denise Rutherford purchased this house in 2001
We purchased the original home in 2001, a 3/2 with a slab foundation built in 1968. My family and I enjoyed that home until it was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. In late 2007 after finding a home plan we all agreed upon we started rebuilding. We decided to build a two story home on 10 foot pilings to maximize our beautiful view of the water and catch the breezes.
When we built this home we wanted to get the best view of the beach and water, so we angled the home on the lot to face in that direction. We built the main porch on the 1st level, and a smaller porch on the 2nd level. The view from the living room and master bedroom is very nice, and there is usually a breeze to enjoy on the porch.
Thank you for a fantastic vacation. We felt at home the minute we walked through the door. From great views to great meals on the deck, we couldn't have asked for more!
We loved this home. As only two of us, it was huge for our needs but it was wonderful to be able to spread out and not always be under each others feet. The only negative comment I have is that I would like to suggest perhaps a starter pack for when guests are arriving. On our arrival, the toilet paper was almost completely gone, and was gone by the time we walked back out the door an hour later. As we had landed in New Orleans, then driven to Waveland, by the time we had arrived it was already quite late. Then we had to go back out "shopping" for groceries and supplies. We finally ate dinner at 10:30 at night after travelling all day and it was basically what we could throw together to fill the hole in our bellies until the next day. The home itself is beautiful and very comfortable.
Also perhaps a motion sensor light could be installed under the carport? We arrived after dark and did not find the light switch until much later.
We looked for several pet friendly properties and this is the absolute best. We enjoyed the fantastic view and the walks along the beach. It is only an hours drive time to the French Quarter. 10min trip along the beach highway to a pet friendly restaurant. Very nice thanks again.
The house was pretty, clean, comfortable and well supplied with linens, towels and kitchen supplies. Loved having 3 bathrooms and 3 bedrooms. Having a gas grill was a plus.
Really appreciated the fenced in back yard due to having pets.
View and nearness of ocean was good. Could see the ocean and beach from front porch.
Easy access to stores.
Recommend this house to just about anyone. The area was quite.
We had a very relaxing vacation.
We are on our last day of a week's stay and have had an excellent experience. Our family of six enjoyed the beach, Port St. Louis, and New Orleans. The house was very clean, furnishings were comfortable and right for us. Great having three full bathrooms, especially when everyone returned from the beach. It is equipped with gates for the safety of younger children. Though it is pet friendly, we detected no evidence of pets having been here. I enjoyed the beautiful sunrises, though my children (teens and early 20's) would have liked light-controlling window treatments, as the morning sun spills into the bedrooms. All in all an excellent experience and we will definitely return.
We just returned from three weeks on Vacation Lane, and it was great. The house is situated in full view of the Gulf and a short walk to a beautiful sand beach. Its three bedrooms, full kitchen, pretty comfortable living room, Wi-Fi, cable and fenced-in backyard served us, our dogs and up to six guests very well. We walked to the beach, rode our bikes along the cement boardwalk attached to Beach Road, and walked through the quiet neighborhoods. We took leisurely drives up Beach Road to restaurants and shopping in Bay St. Louis nearly every day. We drove the hour into the French Quarter in New Orleans and followed Beach Road to Biloxi and Ocean Springs for more shopping and restaurants. We toured the NASA Space Center with grandkids, did a Swamp Tour, played golf, visited a great art and Katrina museum in Biloxi and just had a wonderful time. This was our first trip to the Gulf Coast and we plan to return there next year. We spent a good deal of time exploring the area for similar VRBO's (a screened in porch would have been nice to ward off the No-see-ums that were sometimes a problem), but couldn't find anything close to matching this place! We'll be back in Waveland next April to enjoy the peace and quiet of Waveland and work through our extensive to do list of activities in its surrounding area. We indicated to the manager, however, that the living room furniture is showing wear and the cleaning service could be better.
Waveland is located approximately 1 hour from the New Orleans French Quarter, and 30-45 min. from Gulfport-Biloxi. Waveland and Bay St. Louis have several excellent restaurants. Rickey's is a Cajun/Creole restaurant that has excellent seafood and Italian dishes. There are 3 restaurants across from the Beach in Bay St. Louis, Trapani's, 200 North Beach and The Blind Tiger. The casinos have excellent buffets. Kayaks and canoes may be rented on the Wolf River, about 20 minutes away. The drive down Hwy 90 toward Gulfport-Biloxi is beautiful, with white sand beaches where you will see places to rent jet skis. At the Biloxi small craft harbor you can take a shrimp boat tour which lasts about an hour and is fun and educational, and you can catch a ride on a Biloxi Schooner sailboat. For a step back in history, in Biloxi there is Beauvoir, the home of the Confederate President Jefferson Davis where tours are conducted. The NASA Infinity Science Center is located at Exit 2 off of I-10, where there are exhibits and a tour is given of the Stennis Space Center. There is a waterpark (Barnacle Bills) at Hwy 90 and Nicholson Ave., and there is a wave pool and slides at Buccaneer State Park, a few miles down the Beach Rd. heading toward the Silver Slipper. You may Google all of the places listed for tour times and additional information.
