Guestbook comments from the owner

I thoroughly enjoyed my recent stay at Jane's lovely place. It offered all I needed: privacy, quiet, comfort... it was a lovely retreat surrounded by greenery. The full kitchen was wonderful, and Jane was very generous in stocking the fridge with some welcome goodies. I am very grateful and would readily recommend Alegría to others.

Very Charming Cottage!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I enjoyed our weekend stay at Alegria to attend the annual rowing regatta at Brentwood. Jane was very gracious and her cottage couldn't have been more charming and comfortable. It is very clean and well-appointed, and it is surrounded by a lovely and peaceful woodland garden. We particularly enjoyed the little fireplace, hot tub, and the many birds that visited the feeder outside the living room window. The cottage is conveniently located within walking distance of restaurants in the Duncan, B.C. downtown district. Highly recommended!

Beautiful Suite!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at Alegria was perfect and we were so glad that we booked it for our trip. Jane greeted us with a smile and was a very kind host. The suite was super clean and nicely constructed with an attention to detail. The bed was comfortable and the suite location was quiet, so we had several good night's rest. The kitchen was very well stocked with cooking utensils and pots and pans, so we made several meals very easily. The location was great because it's close to downtown, it allows quick access to the highway, but is quiet for a very relaxing stay. The hot tub was a nice way to unwind after touring the Cowichan area. One rainy evening we stayed inside and would have liked to see a few more TV channels available, but this was minor. There was a nearby trail that led us to the Cowichan River! We would highly recommend this suite to another traveller, and we hope to return someday!

Hidden gem in the heart of Duncan

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at Jane's Alegria for 9 days while traveling back and forth to a rental property we are fixing up a few minutes out of Duncan. Alegria is beautifully appointed with everything you need. The bed was very comfortable with plenty of additional pillows and blankets should they be needed. It was also handy to have access to a washer and dryer for our stay. The suite is beautifully designed with a nice window seat and fantastic little fireplace for guests to enjoy. We hosted Thanksgiving dinner for 6 and there was ample dishware, etc. to cover the group. The suite is located in town, however, the grounds are so private and quiet you wouldn't know it. It's a short walk to the Cowichan River or to downtown Duncan. Jane is a gracious host and would check in periodically with us, she was always available by text but completely respected our privacy. We highly recommend Alegria to anyone traveling through the area.

A great home base

  • 5 of 5

This is a wonderful home base when exploring Vancouver Island since it is an easy drive to Victoria and Nanaimo and everywhere in between. While staying here, we enjoyed the dinner theater in Chemainus and a lovely day trip to Salt Spring Island. It was always a pleasure to come home to this private, comfortable, quiet residence. The thoughtful extra touches in the kitchen particularly made this stand out compared to our other experiences on our BC road trip.
