My name is Daisy. My parents are the lucky owners of this amazing heritage townhouse located in historic St. John's. I have been blessed with the opportunity to handle the rental of this property, and I am looking forward to sharing the charm of this home with potential vacation home renters.
I am a clerk in the Royal Canadian Navy, and I help my parents with the administration of their rental properties. I am married to a wonderful man, and we have two amazing children. We love to spend time during the summers exploring our wonderful city and surrounding areas. We especially love to visit Bannerman Park and take in the many events that happen there, such as the Folk Festival.
Daisy Pendergast purchased this townhome in 2009
My parents purchased this property in 2009. They fell in love with the Heritage area and loved the character and atmosphere in this area of downtown St. John's. It is an affordable place for tourists to stay and enjoy while visiting our breathtaking city.
This home has many tourist attractions within walking distance, such as the Rooms, Bannerman Park, the Colonial Building, Lieutenant Governor's residence, Signal Hill, Johnson Geo Centre, Quidi Vidi Lake, and much more. The downtown area has many great restaurants, art galleries, and stores for shopping. The nightlife on George Street is first class and a must-go while in St. John's. Whether you wish to get 'Screeched In' at a local pub, listen to live bands play, or dance the night away at a night club, George Street has you covered. If you would like to travel across town to do some shopping at a Mall or see a blockbuster movie, all amenities are within a 5-10 minute drive from the townhouse. If you do not have a vehicle while on holiday, you would be pleased to know that our townhouse is on a reliable bus route. If buses are not your thing, there are many taxi companies more than happy to drive you from point A to B. For people who love to hike and enjoy nature, there is an amazing trail along Signal Hill to hike, see whales, and just take in the sights and smells of the Atlantic Ocean.
We had a wonderful stay at this home. We are A family of six so we had enough room for everyone. The house is located directly across the street from a beautiful park with amenities such as a pool, splash pad and play structures - it was perfect for our little kids in the evenings!
We had a great stay at this home and took advantage of the laundry, large bathroom, extra beds and little back patio.
Lawry's House is a very nice "jelly bean" home across the street from a pretty park. It is easy to find and is an easy walk or drive from all the attractions of St. John's. The house has all the amenities to make your stay comfortable. We walked nearly everywhere while staying; it is close to all of the old churches and museums, shops, and the harbor. I would recommend this as a place to stay to anyone wanting to visit St. John's.
Lowry's Place is an ideal base for exploring St John's. It's so convenient, being in reasonable walking distance of everything you might want to see - we even walked to Signal Hill and Quidi Vidi (and the Avalon Mall though that was quite a long way!) Bannerman Park opposite the house is a bonus and there is even a corner shop within 100m (and a medical equipment store even closer should you need to hire crutches!)
There were 5 of us staying and it was so good to have a keypad lock on the house, meaning we could each come and go as we pleased. The house has good bedrooms and lovely soft bedding. We enjoyed hot weather which was a bonus, but the downside was that the 2 back bedrooms' windows wouldn't open so the warm nights were uncomfortable (and we couldn't find any fans). The house was well-equipped and it was lovely to have a small patio at the back. Things we would have liked were a nice milk jug, a large teapot, a large cafetière and a pepper mill!
Thanks for helping make our time in St John's unforgettable! It was brilliant!
We had a fantastic time staying here. The apartment was very clean , friendly environment with everything you need for a comfortable home away from home stay. located in a friendly neighborhood with loads of restaurants, bars, shops etc. just a short walk to downtown . Very friendly and helpful host (Daisy) accommodate us at short notice. Not a single fault or problem during our stay. Highly recommended.
We had a wonderful atay at Strathlaurie in St John's. Great location and perfect for our family of five. Daisy was very accomodating and dealt with any questions right away. Would definitely recommend to friends.
Our stay was absolutely fantastic. The location was excellent, the house was clean and charming and the price was right.
Beautiful four bedroom property, directly across the street from famous Bannerman Park. Many tourist attractions within walking distance - Colonial Building; the Rooms; Johnson Geo Centre; Commisariat House; Lieutenant Governor's residence; Signal Hill; Basilica of St John the Baptist; and so much more. Indulge in the numerous dining establishments in the downtown area. Unwind and enjoy the nightlife on George Street at the end of the day.
