About the property

3 Bedrooms, 3.5 Bathrooms, Sleeps 8

Custom built cabin on top of Deer Crest Overlook in rustic Aska Adventure area. Cohutta Mt. views from main and lower decks; lake views in fall, winter and spring from master bedroom and top deck. You will begin to absorb the breathtaking lake views from the paved drive up from Snake Nation Rd. to our cabin. Once you enter the cabin, the prow-front windows allow you to see the entire Cohutta range and the town of Blue Ridge off in the distance.

The cabin is impeccably decorated with rustic mountain furniture and area decor. Three fireplaces are provided - two gas inside and one wood burning located on a fully furnished outdoor covered deck. Has hi-speed internet wifi access throughout.

The master bedroom has a king sized bed, remote controlled ceiling light and fan, huge walk-in closet, walk-in tiled shower, jacuzzi tub, and a large walk-out deck. The queen bedroom located on the main level, convenient to kitchen, has a large bathroom with walk-in tiled shower. The lower level bedroom is a kid's paradise, with a twin bed and bunk-beds, flat screen TV with X-box games, on same floor as all other entertainment amenities.

Gourmet kitchen has granite countertops, all new stainless steel appliances, microwave, garbage disposal, gas range and side-by-side refrigerator. There is a regular coffee maker as well as a Keurig coffee machine for your enjoyment. The dining area is furnished with a large lodge style table that seats 10 comfortably, with a view!

The living area has a stone fireplace, comfortable sofa and love seat, and hand-made rustic mountain furniture with more views! A smaller flat screen TV with satellite and stereo also available on the main level. Covered deck/porch area has a wood burning fireplace, comfortable patio furniture, and a gas grill should you decide to stay in to fillet a fresh water trout meal!

The lower level is fully equipped with recreation items such as pool/ping-pong table, large wet bar, 50 inch satellite TV, surround sound stereo with CD player, X-box, board games, and walk-out to hot tub deck area and MORE views of the long range mountains. A pull out couch with queen sized mattress placed in front of our stone fireplace is a most cozy addition! A washer/dryer combo and full size bathroom also complement this level of the modern cabin.

Lower Deck area includes a new 6-person Dynasty hot tub with LED lights and waterfall, stereo speakers. More seating area on this level full deck, and access to the mountainside 1.5 acre lot.

The layout of this cabin is ideal for two couples with children, or a large family that can spread out across three levels - each with it's own deck, bedroom, bathroom, and living area. We also recommend this for a group of adults planning a weekend of trout fishing, whitewater rafting, serious hikers/bikers, or just kicking back in the quiet serene mountains only 1.5 hr drive from the north side of Atlanta or Alpharetta.

About Jeannie VanCuren

We live in Atlanta, Georgia and have always enjoyed the Blue Ridge mountains, and the peaceful feeling that they provide. In our spare time, we enjoy recreation in the mountains, from the Rockies to the Appalachian's, and Blue Ridge is our favorite mountain town.

Jeannie VanCuren purchased this cabin in 2013

Why Jeannie VanCuren chose Northwest High Country

It is one of only a very few properties in Blue Ridge Aska area that provides both a view of the lake and another view of the Cohutta Mt. range. It is also paved all the way to the top of DeerCrest overlook/Snake nation overlook.

What makes this cabin unique

Proximity to the town, the lake, the Aska area, Toccoa River, Benton-McKahey trails, and also is only 1.5 hours to Alpharetta or Atlanta.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We arrived to your cabin when it was already dark; when we turned on the lights, we all had the same reaction: what a great space in the main room! When entering the main room we got a warm and peaceful feeling. You created such a wonderful environment, and we can see your dedication and careful attention to details that makes your place so unique. In the morning we woke up to see the spectacular sight the house has in the main room: the dark and sometimes turning blue scenes of the Appalachian Mountains lend a mystic hue to the house. The raising clouds coming from the valley and Lake Blue Ridge made us feel like we were floating in a house up in the sky. Driving around Aska Road by the river is quite an experience. The pristine water of the river is very inviting to just stay there, to explore the water in each turn around the rocks, and to enjoy each pool as they form by the water that passes through the valley. We will definitely come back to do some kayaking and fishing!

Best vacation rental ever!

  • 5 of 5

Seriously, five stars... This is the best vacation rental we've ever had, bar none. The place was stunning, like it was brand new. When we walked in, it was so clean I thought we were the first ones there after new construction.

The views were stunning, and decorative appointments made it feel very high-end. There's really enough to do inside the cabin (hot tub, pool table, board games, fire pit and fireplaces) you could stay there and never feel like you have to go down the mountain to all the activities the area has to offer.

We like to go to different places every year, but this place has me rethinking that strategy!

Love it!!!

  • 5 of 5

As always, we loved our visit last week! This cabin is and has been our favorite and is the only place we stay when visiting Blueridge. Jeannie and Bill take such great care of it and are so great to work with. We visit once or twice every year and this always feels like a second home to us!

Surpassed our expectations!

  • 5 of 5

We were very privileged to have been able to spend 5 days in this spectacular mountaintop cabin. All you need to do is bring your clothes (or not) as everything is provided. The cabin was clean and was well stocked with all the amenities needed.

If you're thinking of a mountain retreat don't hesitate to book this wonderful cabin!

Charming and perfectly situated

  • 5 of 5

This cabin has so much to offer! Beautiful expansive view with sunsets in the back, and a view of the lake and sunrises from the master bedroom balcony. We also got to see the full moon rise from there!

The cabin itself was clean and tastefully decorated. We also liked that it was so close to town.

Jeannie was nice and very easy to work with.

Everyone in the family was happy with this awesome cabin!

A Perfect Cabin, amazing views and owners who have thought of everything! Don't miss this one!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and our three children were looking for a Spring Break getaway to the mountains and boy did we find the place to go! Jeannie and Bill have not only found the perfect location in Blue Ridge but built a cabin that exceeds EVERY expectation. It's large, has all the amenities of home and lot's of games and things to do! My absolute favorite though was staring out over the most picturesque view that can been seen from any level in the house. We enjoyed ping pong and the hot tub then went adventuring into Blue Ridge and hiking out to Long Creek Falls. It would not have been hard to just stay in the cabin all week but it was so comforting to know we had such an amazing place to come home to. Jeannie and Bill, thank you so much for allowing us to stay in your beautiful cabin in the mountains. Your hard work on making it so special is obvious to all. We truly hope to return!

Amazing Cabin! Best view in Blue Ridge.

  • 5 of 5

I used to own a cabin in Blue Ridge (back when my wife and I lived in Atlanta), and I was pretty sure that our cabin had the best mountain view in all of Blue Ridge... but I changed my mind when I saw this Aska cabin. Holy smokes! The view was absolutely breathtaking from both sides of the cabin (you can see Lake Blue Ridge from the other side of the cabin), and we were blown away with the job the owners did with this cabin. They thought of everything from the amazing outdoor fire place, an extra propane tank for cooking, a fire pit for roasting marshmallows with the kids, pool table, etc. Definitely bringing the family back to this cabin next year when we do our annual trip back to Blue Ridge from Tampa.
