About Dennis & Susan Sibilia-Young

We arrived in Eugene 23 years ago, and raised our children here. We have spent the years creating beautiful gardens. We love sharing our space with others. Currently, we share the outdoor garden space with children in our child-care business. These children are aged 2-5. They spend short periods of time in the garden during mornings and afternoons (Monday-Friday).

Dennis & Susan Sibilia-Young purchased this cottage in 2001

Why Dennis & Susan Sibilia-Young chose Eugene

The construction of Rose Cottage was a labor of love. We brought many of the tiles back from our trips to Mexico. The hand-painted bathroom sink was brought as hand-carried luggage from Tonalá, Jalisco. These (and the location in our rose garden) provided the inspiration for creating a peaceful and renewing retreat.

What makes this cottage unique

Lots of light. Beautiful country garden setting in the city.

Great place - wifi slow

  • 5 of 5

I stayed three nights - Great little cottage! Nice shower, bathroom in general, comfortable bed, lots of pillows and warm! :) Things to improve are to remove your meat stored in the cottage freezer, have no sink on the floor upon arrival, put curtains above the kitchen sink, and add an ice cube tray. I'd pay more for high speed wireless--it was essentially unusable. I still give five stars because it was a hassle-free experience and nice place to stay.

creative, comfy, convenient

  • 5 of 5

I spent two nights at Rose Cottage. The Italian/Spanish tile decor is charming, the bed was comfy, and the location could not have been more convenient--just a few blocks from groceries, restaurants, the trail next to Amazon Creek, and 10 minutes to the UofO by car or bus. The owners (who turned out to be friends of friends of mine...small world!!) communicated promptly.

Darling Cottage!

  • 4 of 5

We were visiting relatives in the Eugene area so we didn't spend much time in the cottage. It's darling and the southwestern motif is something we really like. Everything was neat and clean and had alot of character. The only thing I would suggest is to have a hair dryer in the bathroom and a clock in the bedroom. I would recommend this lovely setting for a stay in the Eugene area.

Charming

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at the Rose Cottage from July 16th to July 19, 2016. It was as charming as it appears in the photos. We enjoyed the convenient location, which simultaneously felt like a tucked-away refuge, and yet near to all places we wanted and needed to access. The bed was comfortable, and we had everything we needed at our disposal in the cottage. We met Susan for just a couple of minutes when we were getting ready to leave, and she was very pleasant. The cottage was so private that we didn't see a soul until it was almost time to check out. We were in Eugene to attend a family wedding and when we showed photos of the Rose Cottage to other guests, they were envious. I don't know why anyone would choose a sterile, boring hotel room when they could stay at a delightful place like this.

Cute Cottage with old Eugene feel.

  • 4 of 5

We spent 9 nights at the cottage for the Olympic Trials and while the rose garden cottage was "cute" and very secure, it was not comfortable. The bed was only a double and the tiny couch horribly uncomfortable and not a place to hang out. Bathroom was wonderful and the entire place was done is a very colorful Mexican motif.

The location was perfect for biking in to campus as it was bike lanes all the way in and off the main streets. We could keep our bikes unlocked within the compound and never had to worry about security. A chicken coop right out the front door was a pleasant surprise and fun to wake up to.

Pricing on the cottage was very good, but while cute, we definitely got what we paid for with the lack of comfort.
