About 3000 Square Feet
This is the perfect property for a large group of people visiting New York for whatever purpose. The house was built in 1919 and is 13 feet by 80 feet with three floors that include an elegant finished basement - totaling 10 rooms. It is artistically furnished and designed, but changes can be made per your request to reflect your needs.
Tourists: the subway (Q train) is a 3 minute walk - see below for times to some of New York's popular venues
Family gatherings - great when traveling to a wedding or reunion for it is a wonderfully decorated house with a large dining room, elegant kitchen and living-room and even a sun room to have those fun conversations aqnd even family dinners. There are enough televisions and computers to entertain and also there is a family feeling emanating. In the winter the gas fireplace adds charm.
Business gatherings - the dining room is great for meetings and if you are traveling with a group of five - each can have their own bedroom and then simply go downstairs to a beautiful dining room that serves as conferance room.
The kitchen can serve a banquet but the neighborhood is lively and has many shops and restaurants you may need within minutes walking.
Victorian Flatbush boasts large houses from early last century - this 100 year home sits on a quiet block with birds chirping and children playing. It also has many bars and clubs and is now attracting artists and yuppies because of it night life and beautiful homes.
There are three bedrooms upstairs; two have double beds and one has a single bed. There are room in all of them to fit futtons if required. The two other bedrooms are on the lower level (elegantly finished basement). One bedroom has two beds that can remain separate or slide together to form a queen - they are heavy beds and do not move. The other room has a double airo-bed. These rooms are quant and admitting small, but comfortable and rent separately when the house is not rented to great reviews - see listings for quiet room 1 and 2. This totals nine sleeping very, very comfortably as long as there are 3 couples. In addition there are 2 single futons and a double futon that can be distributed around the house to accommodate if there are more singles or more quests in general. Remember there is a great deal of flexibility to switch things around; in addition in the living room there is a comfortable couch. I often sleep on it in the winter because the room has a fabulous working gas fireplace. The house is large and roomy obviously. As stated above there is a formal dining room with a very large table for meetings. Two of the bedrooms can serve as offices. There is high speed internet access and regular internet with printer access on two computers, as well there is a large sun-room sitting area in front with rocking chairs looking onto a tree lined block. By the way the kitchen also is wonderful for dining and it is elegantly designed with Quaker handmade cabinets, green granite and my own paintings and photographs adorning the marble and wallpaper facades.
We are minutes from the subway and many, many restaurants and night life. This is area has become one of the places to go in Brooklyn according to Timeout magazine -
Many restaurants line Cortelyou rd which is very active at night.
The bedrooms upstairs are all air conditioned and the first floor is air conditioned - the lower level is not but is really a basement, though as elegant as the other floors, remains comfortable in both winter and summer. The rooms have space heaters and of course the house is heated by steam and gas.
Sometimes when the entire house is rented I may stay in the studio in the back which a separate building. I would need to use the bathroom by the kitchen. There are three bathrooms. But usually I drive upstate to my country home or arrange to travel during rentals. But let's discuss this upon contact.
Remember this is a beautifully decorated house in a quiet but popular area with many shops and easy access to Manhattan.

Thank you for taking the time to learn about my home which I love- at first I did this only for the money now I enjoy also showing my home and meeting wonderful people :)
This is a very quiet, high end neighborhood -
There is absolutely no smoking in the house, or on the property at all. I tried to allow smoking in a small area in back but it causes problems because there is a boy with asthma in close proximity and 5 children and a women with a severe allergy to smoke. Because of this also standing in front of the house or on the steps is also not allowed.
Smokers must walk around the corner, or go to one of the benches on Cortelyou Rd (half a block away) - a very busy, safe block. It is fun to people watch there.
The back door is not to be used except as an emergency exit. There is no use of the backyard or side driveway. There are young children's windows close.
No parking in driveway. But you may block the space in front of the driveway on the street.
These rules are designed to offer you a safe stay without feedback from neighbors. My neighbors are fine people, but large groups of people can disturb without intent of course, so I am trying to avoid issues.

I am a writer and actor living and creating alone both in the city and the country - best of both worlds. I have had success but my most most recent joy is writing awareness plays, producing, performing and directing them for the New York City school system - delightful. I also enjoy writing and performing for the New York theater scene. Another joy is getting to know people - I traveled to over a 100 countries and delight in meeting and keeping in touch with as many interesting humans as possible. My passions are classical music, theater, bicycling, swimming laps and walking in the woods and Manhattan or Brooklyn - the new Manhattan.
Rick purchased this House in 2005
Why Rick chose Ditmas Park
This was the house I grew up in - We moved there when I was young and I eventually wound up in Manhattan. Then when my Mom passed I sold my apartment and bought the house. It was the happiest move I ever made. I have a rehearsal studio in the back that has allowed me to join the theatrical community once again.
What makes this House unique
The house has many wonderful attributes. In the winter fall and on a cold spring day you can enjoy the fire place. There is a front and back garden. There is availble street parking. The nieghbord is totally residential but just on the corner, on cortelyou rd is a wonder block containing many resteraunts that attract people from all over New York City. Great shoops line the street and as well. The house boasts quiet. The kitchen is well equiped and has appliances and equipment to produce great meals.

Wedding Weekend in Brooklyn
Rick's house was perfect for our family members to all be together for a wedding weekend. The location was perfect. Easy 1-1/2 blocks to the Q train which was the line where we needed to be. Lots of stores and restaurants right nearby yet the street was nicely tree lined and quiet. None of us had any issues with parking. The house was great. Nice big dining room. Smaller Kitchen and Living room but were fine for us. Bedrooms and Bathrooms were all fine, too. Great place for our family. Thank you Rick!!!
It was a comfortable home like atmosphere.
The home was fine for a group of 7.
We had plenty of room to relax and the kitchen added to our enjoyment of home styled meals with friends.
The neighborhood was quiet, and the parking was not an issue as is the case of many NY neighborhoods.
We were able to walk to the shops and other places of interest.
I would consider using this spot again.
great place -
place was very nice only downside was the constant search for parking.
would definitely stay again when in the area.
Warm and welcoming
Charming neighborhood, great house fully stocked with amenities. Loved our stay, and the owner couldn't have been nicer. I would recommend staying here if you're looking for a real feel for New York.
Kathi's team were nice people. I was really happy to have talked to them briefly and they clearly respected my property. Their organization we her to rais to raise money for St Jude Children's hospital with a black light race. This was a great experience. They are certainly welcome back
Comfortable. Hang out before bed, sleep, breakfast, then out to Brooklyn and NYC during the day. Low ceiling downstairs.
This a very highend Brooklyn Area that attracts artists and many tourists for its close proximity to the subway and Manhattan and the availability of large houses.
