About the property

Studio 1 Bathroom, 2 Sleeps A Chance To Experience An Eighteenth Century

For a different experience, to be spent in the atmosphere of ancient Umbria, there is nothing better than staying at the stately residence Palazzo Balducci in Gubbio, a building that dates back to the eighteenth century, and maintains intact the historical features which are considered part of the Italian national heritage.

In a wing of the palace a ground-floor conversion has made two comfortable self-catering apartments, self-contained and perfect for couples and/or a small group of friends or relatives who want to live unique suggestions within the walls of history.

Access to the apartments is through a majestic colonnade and a green garden.

Studiolo (sleeps 2): the majestic colonnade entrance of Palazzo Balducci leads to a bright and charming living room furnished: with dining table and matching chairs, with a comfortable double bed that disappears when locked and allows you to take advantage of the comfortable sofa, with TV and free WiFi connection. The living room leads to the fully equipped kitchen (4 hotplates, refrigerator, washing machine, microwave oven, coffee maker, pots and pans, etc..) and bathroom with shower and bidet.

All this is housed in a functional area of 35 square meters.

About Alfredo Brofferio

After working 35 years with IBM and having wandered around Italy and Europe with my family (8 moves) I decided to retire and to live in Gubbio where my mother’s family had been since 1200. Umbria and Gubbio have always been a point of reference in my life as an emigrant. So as soon as I could I returned here permanently.

Alfredo Brofferio purchased this apartment in 1995

Why Alfredo Brofferio chose Gubbio

Owning already 50% of Palazzo Balducci I decided to buy the other 50% from my sister to maintain such valuable palace in the family and because Gubbio is one of the best place to live for a tourist and a retired person.

What makes this apartment unique

Gubbio is considered one of the most fascinating places in the world due to its environmental beauty, historical and artistic medieval attractions and gastronomic specialities.

Perfect for 2!

  • 5 of 5

I usually stay in the other bigger apartment Limonara (which I love), but being only 2, I thought we should try the all new smaller, but very cosy Studiolo.

We did not regret - it is so nice and cosy and even though it's small, it has everything you need and without feeling cramped. Both the bathroom and kitchen (all new and nice) have plenty of space - the shared bedroom/livingroom is small, but as mentioned before, you don't feel cramped - not even staying with a friend!

This is a great little place to stay - very nice and quiet and you can sit outside in the garden without being disturbed by anyone!

Another great thing is: even though you don't feel like being in a city when you are enjoying your relaxation in and by the apartment, you are only a few steps away from a restaurant in the evening - no need for a car - it's just perfect!

And to add to the perfection, I have to mention the most amazing host Alfredo - he will do everything he can to make your stay complete and he can tell you all about the history of Gubbio, what to see and where to go for dinner! You can't wish for more!
