About Marjan Kelsey
Greengate Ranch has a history dating back to the 1800’s as a dairy farm, but is best known for its rise to international acclaim under the ownership of Jay and Dorothy Stream, who occupied the ranch from the 1950’s until 2012. The Streams, often in partnership with Jay’s client, the legendary Wayne Newton, bred world class Arabian horses after turning this majestic piece of land into a top notch horse facility. Jay Stream was a Past President of the International Arabian Horse Association (IAHA), inspired the Arabian Horse Society and was President Emeritus of the World Arabian Horse Organization (WAHO), having served as President for 31 years. His international recognition popularized the ranch as it became home to world class Arabian events and extravagant galas and auctions attended by celebrities, royalty and luminaries from the Middle East who traveled half way across the globe to visit Greengate Ranch. Jay Stream has since passed away and Dorothy Stream moved to Arizona. The property and all of its facilities had fallen on hard times and were in need of a substantial restoration project. A local family purchased the property in July of 2012 and immediately went to work restoring the grounds and structures to their previous grandeur. Virtually every structure, pasture, fence, and dwelling has been completely overhauled. A 75 acre vineyard are the latest additions to the ranch. The owners take great pride in restoring this once proud property that sits at the gateway to historic Edna Valley. We aim to provide the premier ranch and vineyard experience in California. We hope to see you at the Ranch soon!

A wonderful weekend getaway
I went down to SLO for some wine tasting and was delightfully surprised to find such a beautiful place to stay. There were vineyards, there were spaces to sit and enjoy the sunrise and the sunset. The home itself is well-organized and stocked. Very spacious with wonderful decor.
There is an office onsite to check in. Please note, the GPS on your phone will take you past the check-in office. You should follow signs for Greengate Ranch and make a right at the gate. The location is smack in the middle of Edna Valley and about 10 minutes from downtown SLO. Enjoy your stay!
Love this place
Our family has spent many weekends here it is our favorite place in the central coast!
Thank you Adam! We appreciate the kind review. Our team here at Greengate Ranch & Vineyard, work hard to ensure our rental guests feel at home and enjoy their stay. You're welcome anytime.
Greengate Ranch & Vineyard
I cannot say enough about this beautiful location. The furnishings were absolutely designer perfect, functional and exceeded my expectations. The "country" feel of the horses, goats, chickens and farm dogs was a thrill for my 5 year old grandson...as well as his grandpa! Looking out and walking through the vineyards was also a special event for our family of 5. Marjan was great to work with, and everything was so perfect we didn't want to leave the property, but dragged ourselves away for a visit to a few wineries close by! Thanks for such a magical 4 days at The Carriage House.
Becky, we so enjoyed you and your family at the ranch and hope you come stay with us again!
Thank you for your kind review, we appreciate the feedback!
Wishing you all well!

Perfect from beginning to end
We used this house for clients that were coming in from out of town. Everything went smoothly from my initial interaction with Marjan to the departure of all guests. The clients enjoyed the house and location so much they chose to stay in on the first night and make dinner in the house rather than eat out. I highly recommend the Greengate Farm experience. The staff is extremely friendly.
visit for Graduation
The Carriage House and surroundings were a wonderful place to celebrate Graduation. We will return
for a more relaxing stay the next time, with a little more "leisure time" to enjoy all there is to do around the beautiful ranch and the surrounding area. As it was we managed to fit in a great celebratory gathering thanks to all the accoutrements @ the Carriage House kitchen, hiking, wine tasting, visits to SLO, and great evenings around the firepit. A memorable visit! Special thanks to Sarah and Alicia!

First visit to SLO, will not be our last!
The beauty of the ranch/carriage house and surrounding landscape is only surpassed by the warmth and genuine hospitality of our hostess and her family. We found the house in immaculate condition upon arrival, and the bedrooms are comfortable and cozy with classic modern bathrooms with retro ranch style. The use of white "subway" tile throughout kitchen and bath was very appealing to us and provides such a visually striking look. The gourmet kitchen is outfitted to suit the foodies in your group, and the bbq grill was perfect for our Saturday night grill-party (along with a warm glowing fire-pit out front). Generally a great value, fun experience (the women-folk went horseback riding on the ranch and through the vineyards while the men golfed nearby) and we look forward to visiting again, hopefully gathering a larger group so that we can occupy the amazing big house just up the hill from the carriage house. Thanks again for an incredible vacation experience!
