Family adventure awaits at Casa Mañana. Whether you’re staying in for a day at the poolside or exploring the Uvita area, there is no shortage of things to do and see.
Awaken to the ever-changing sounds of the rain forest; enjoy coffee on the balcony while taking in the panoramic view of the Pacific. Our home is located in one of the most biodiversity-rich areas in the world; you never know what you are going to see or hear making every day a new adventure.
Casa Mañana is uniquely designed to provide 4 couples with the convenience of maximum privacy in your bedroom area, coupled with a central common area to enjoy group interaction.
Each of the four bedrooms comes with a queen size bed, a private bathroom, fold-down laptop computer desk, overhead fan and windows all around – immerse yourself in nature, or pull down the shades for a peaceful afternoon nap.
A 10 minute drive allows you to spend your day at Uvita waterfall at the base of Bejuco road. The mountain water is always cool and refreshing. Let the kids splash in the water, while you enjoy a cold beer or a delicious fresh fruit smoothie at the restaurant.
Venture a little further and explore the world famous Whales Tail in Ballena Marine National Park. This unique natural phenomenon which can be viewed from your balcony back at Casa Mañana, provides the perfect back-drop for a day of exploration when the tide is out and the Whale’s Tail becomes accessible for beach combing. The sparkling sandy white beach is breath taking and appears endless. Be sure to bring a pail for collecting beach-side treasures and enjoy a relaxing swim in the calm waters of the cove created by the peninsula.
Retire to Casa Mañana to plan tomorrow’s adventure and experience the sensational Costa Rican sunset. Each one is truly a memorable experience from this spectacular mountainside vantage point.
After twenty three years of dreaming about it - we finally took the plunge and bought a lot in Uvita, Costa Rica. We have had our ups and downs on this journey – but mostly ups. The name Casa Mañana evolved as we quickly had to learn to adapt to Costa Rica timing. Mañana (tomorrow - or not today) was the theme of our entire building experience, it was indeed an adventure.
Our 3 years spent on this labour of love has allowed us to make our dream home a reality. Retirement has allowed us to stay at Casa Mañana 6 months of the year. For us, escaping the snowy Canadian winters has made it all worthwhile. In 2012 we had opportunity to visit Casa Mañana in the summer with our grandchildren, and it was truly a completely different, but wonderful experience.
Starting in the summer of 2013, we have decided to share our dream home Casa Mañana, as well as our Casita Lo Hicimos ( in English -We did it!) with others wishing to explore Costa Rica while enjoying the comforts of a home away from home.
We hope your stay will bring you the same joy we experience each and every day when we wake up to a new Costa Rican day. Pura Vida Costa Rica!
dianne machel purchased this house in 2010
It is close enough to everything we need as seniors - yet far enough away from the bussle and noise of town to allow us to experience cool ocean breezes, phenominal views, greenery everywhere, peace and tranquility and wildlife
Each bedroom offers complete privacy and a multitude of windows to view the ocean from every room. Glass doors off each bedroom offer a large balcony upstairs and amazing ocean and whales tail views - and the walkouts from downstairs bedrooms offer an overhead or open patio and the pool just feet away for that early morning refreshing dip
WONDERFUL OCEAN VIEWS FROM EVERY ROOM IN THE HOUSE
From abroad (France) it is not always easy to chose a house for rent, so I was a little scary. Well, I can say that we ended up in one of the most beautiful houses ! Very practical with its four bedrooms with each a private bathroom, but also very cosy ! Eating outside was one of my favourites.
The view on the ocean and the whale's-tail is impressive and the swimming pool very useful after a walk or a trip in the neighbourhood.
Personally I liked the early mornings most, so calm and peaceful, just beautiful.
The beaches near Uvita are clean and the water of the ocean is warm !
Simply I loved the place, I was only sorry I couldn’t stay a bit longer ! But I’ll be back !!
Bravo and thanks to the owners !!
We were quite impressed with the splendid views from the balcony, overlooking the Pacific Coastline and more in particular the Whale's Tail", a promontory, jutting out into the ocean and accessible at low tide. The accommodation is splendid, cosy, very clean and the house oozes warmth and hospitality. The outdoor kitchen is a definite asset ! The pool offers ample relaxation. The cool mountain air guarantees, that an airconditioner is not required. All amenities, kitchen , laundry etc are well up to the expected standard. Beds and adjoining en-suites, are modern and nicely decorated. I would highly recommend this property. The access road is at times a bit steep, but offers splendid view and forms part of the "hide-away-feeling". The area and immediate surrounding is stunning, to say the least. Plenty of resto's nearby, as well as supermarkets. The local population is extremely friendly. Beaches are fabulous and even for a Scuba diver like myself, there is ample opportunity. We enjoyed nearby horse riding, spectacular waterfalls and even visiting an indigenous village.
We were very fortunate that this property was available for our return visit to Costa Rica. It is a 5 km drive up the mountain where the air is cooler and crisper and divine for sunsets with a view of the "Whale's Tail". The on-suite baths for each bedroom are a definite plus. Since our first visit, the owners have added an outdoor kitchen - thumbs up! The owners pass on so much info and ideas for sightseeing. Would stay again!
This property is absolutely stunning. Very clean and well maintained. The first thing to catch my eye was the overall design/layout and decor which makes sense because it was all designed and built by the owner herself! 4 bedrooms each with their own toilet/shower gave everyone more than enough space and personal privacy. Large sliding doors in front of each bedroom, the kitchen, upstairs balcony, and pool left the space feeling very open with incredible views to wake up to from bed! The pool was essential for the peak heat of the day and left us feeling so refreshed! Huge balcony upstairs and downstairs with a dozen pairs of chairs and tables set up all over so you could pick a new spot to relax every day! The swinging chair on 2nd floor and the outdoor kitchen may have been my favorite as it was a blessing to cook and eat next to the pool in the gorgeous weather. There is a beautiful waterfall less than 10 min down the road and an amazing variety of insects and animals to serenade you at sunset every evening. Just be prepared for an aggressive off-road journey to get to this lovely residence. They are NOT kidding when they say you need 4 wheel drive! Dianne the property owner was a Saint and had large soft pool towels laid out in each room and even bought us a massive fresh fruit basket upon arrival! I cannot recommend this place enough, it is impossible to be disappointed.
We are so lucky to be renting casa manana while we build our own place.
Not only is it convenient, but it offers complete privacy and comfort for each of us with ensuites in every bedroom.
Add to that a top quality german queen size mattress, we couldnt ask for more luxury!
The rains have started and many evenings we have a spectacular lightning show over the ocean as we relax on the upper balcony.enjoying the amazing view
The pool is a real pool, deep enough to dive in, and always refreshing.
We have even been picking our own fruit as we compete with the toucans for the fresh papaya ripening every few days.
I love my stay here and would recommend casa manana to anyone visiting costa rica.

I rented this house for myself and my husband, as well as several guests who came to our wedding from out of the country. We had a wonderful experience. I am very familiar with the Uvita area and have rented several guest houses over the years - I would definitely say this was the nicest experience so far. Our hosts were kind and generous - we were greeted with a big basket full of delicious fruit on our arrival and on our wedding day, we were surprised with a gorgeous and big! bouquet of tropical flowers as well as a thoughtful gift. The house itself has cozy bedrooms, clean and cute bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen and the best part for us was the common areas where we could all hang out over coffee or a drink - the large balcony and area around the pool, as well as the big couch inside. Getting up to the house (as with many houses worth renting in the area) is a challenge if you have a 4x4 with a smaller engine because the road is quite steep in places. 4x4 is absolutely a necessity. Overall, I highly recommend Casa Mañana!!
Cano island offers sea turtle /dolphin/whale watching and is an amazing trip -local horseback riding /Manuel Antonio park 1 hr away/baru nature reserve/ATV tours - there is an excellent information center in uvita, they will book all activities for you
