Owner info

Year Purchased: 1978

About the owner: The farm continues to be family owned with siblings, Kim and Melode, natives of Colorado. Kim is a master carpenter and responsible for the beauty of the farm. He has created the interior of the farm house, and the landscaping surrounding the two homes He lives and works on the property; farming hay and planting for wildlife, especially birds. Melode lives a mile away from the farm, with husband Kevin. Other family members live in the valley, including son, Adam. All share a piece of maintaining the property. You are likely to meet any of the family as each are available for greeting, and providing support for the best experience possible.

Why the Owner Chose Clifton, CO, USA:
The Mariner Family Farm was passed down to Kim and Melode from their parents. The house hosted many happy memories for the family and we wish for you enjoy the home and yard to make your own memories. The farm was much larger before the Mariners bought the property, with acres of peaches, cherries and apples. In the farm house, there are photos of the house and the fruit packing shed as they were at the time of of the Mariner purchase. The oak tree is said to have come from Kansas as an acorn and is over 100 years old. The town of Clifton was once the largest fruit packing shed in the area, located next to the rail road. Fruit was transported all over the country and in to Canada just a mile from this location.

The Unique Benefits at this Farmhouse:
The view of the Grand Mesa, Mt Garfield and the Old Oak Tree, with no immediate neighbors, creates a peaceful and private setting. Kim prefers to plant favorite herbs and flowers and let them take over. The farm encourages wild life. The front area of the property has been planted to encourage the beautiful bird population. The wildness around the field shelters, quail, fox, and coyote's. Occasionally a blue heron or white egret with forage in the field. With no TV, family games are provided, along with a variety of music, books, and magazines to enjoy. Most guests claim they do not miss the TV.
