About The Owner

We moved to the mountains from the South Carolina coast in 1998. While I've been a financial advisor for nearly 30 years, our move allowed Jeannie to pursue a dream of opening a small business... The Jeweler's Workbench... in downtown Waynesville. After a successful 10 year run, she has recently sold her gallery and is now enjoying the 'retirement lifestyle.'

When purchasing our residence several years ago, we discovered that we had a 'hidden gem' located at the back of our property ... a small cottage in total disrepair... awaiting a facelift. After several years of constant attention, our Cottage has now been transformed into a charming get-away for all to enjoy.

The Owner purchased this cottage in 2005

Why The Owner chose Smoky Mountains

We started vacationing in the area in the early nineties and immediately fell in love with the mountains, the people and the opportunities for a better quality of life. We finally decided it would be less costly to simply move to the Waynesville area... considering we were vacationing in the area 3 to 4 times a year!

What makes this cottage unique

While The Cottage has maintained its classic style and appeal, the property offers guests all of the modern conveniences and comforts of home.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We enjoyed our stay at The Cottage, with all the little touches…wine, fruit and Sadie especially like her water and food dishes a greatly appreciated the doggie treats.

The distance from the cottage to the town was another plus! We hope to make it back and would love to stay at The Cottage again. Thanks so Much :-)

Perfect location

  • 5 of 5

We picked The Cottage when our first choice wasn't available for a long weekend in April. It was our lucky day!

This little gem is tucked just two blocks off of waynesville's charming downtown. It's just far enough to be quiet and peaceful yet close enough to walk to dinner in the evening. It has everything you could think of and Tom, the owner, lives on the property if any problems should arise. The kitchen is well equipped and there are plenty of towels and blankets.

The Cottage was spotlessly clean upon our arrival.

We really enjoyed sitting on the lovely, secluded patio for a glass of wine in the evening. We have already booked our next stay.

Cozy Cottage

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at The Cottage. It helped to take our interest in this town to a new level. The Cottage is charming, clean, beautifully decorated, and in an absolutely perfect location. The Tracys left no stone unturned in remodeling and decorating this beautiful historic home. Everything is very thoughtfully laid out to provide maximum relaxation during your stay. The home itself is so comfortable you might not want to leave to go exploring, but downtown is just a five minute walk away when you do decide to venture out. Tom was a very helpful friend to make in Waynesville, providing us with many suggestions on restaurants and things to do during our stay. We are very much looking forward to our next visit, and highly recommend this property.

The Cottage is wonderful.

  • 5 of 5

The Cottage is cozy and relaxing. We loved our stay. The Cottage had all of the amenities we needed and stocked with things we didn't realize we needed. Waynesville was in walking distance and downtown Asheville was about 35 minute drive. There is definitely plenty to do.

The Cottage is a wonderful place!

  • 5 of 5

The Cottage is a wonderful location for your visit to the Waynesville/Maggie Valley area. It is cute as it can be and is located only a couple of blocks off the shopping district on Main Street in Waynesville. Tom is an excellent host that has everything just right to make your visit special. We plan to go back soon. The cottage is a great place for a couple to share a special time. I know you would enjoy this special place. Everything was as described or better. You can't go wrong with this selection.
