About The Owner

We moved to the mountains from the South Carolina coast in 1998. While I've been a financial advisor for over 30 years, our move allowed Jeannie to pursue a dream of opening a small business... The Jeweler's Workbench... in downtown Waynesville. After a successful 10 year run, she sold her gallery and is now enjoying the 'retirement lifestyle.'

When purchasing our residence several years ago, we discovered that we had a 'hidden gem' located at the back of our property ... a small cottage in total disrepair... awaiting a facelift. After several years of constant attention, The Cottage has now been transformed into a charming getaway for all to enjoy.

The Owner purchased this cottage in 2005

Why The Owner chose Smoky Mountains

We started vacationing in the area in the early nineties and immediately fell in love with the mountains, the people and the opportunities for a better quality of life. We finally decided it would be less costly to simply move to the Waynesville area... considering we were vacationing in the area 3 to 4 times a year!

What makes this cottage unique

While The Cottage has maintained its classic style and appeal, the property offers guests all of the modern conveniences and comforts of home.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We enjoyed our stay at The Cottage, with all the little touches…wine, fruit and Sadie especially like her water and food dishes a greatly appreciated the doggie treats.

The distance from the cottage to the town was another plus! We hope to make it back and would love to stay at The Cottage again. Thanks so Much :-)

Relaxing and perfectly located!

  • 5 of 5

This cottage is a gem! Tom was great to work with and he takes all the guessing out of the process. He provided a great package of information regarding restaurants, breweries, hikes, etc. Within walking distance of downtown and convenient to all of our outdoor activity destinations. The cottage is perfectly restored and impeccably clean and presented....clearly done with guests in mind. No doubt that it will always be our number one choice when staying in the area. Can't wait to return!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your thorough "review" of The Cottage... and all of the positive comments! We really appreciated the time you spent detailing all of the "extras" available to our guests.

Beautiful cottage in a convenient location with a fenced yard!

  • 5 of 5

This stunning, historic cottage is halfway between Asheville and the Great Smokies in Waynesville, Nc. Walkable neighborhood; close to lots of unique shops & yummy restaurants. The actual cottage is gorgeous. Hardwood floors throughout. The backyard is a real gem and perfect if you're traveling with your pup. The entire backyard is fenced, which is super hard to find in rentals. The cottage is on the proprietor 's property but they are not intrusive at all. Overall, a wonderful choice!!

Great location, perfect for Two

  • 5 of 5

This cottage is perfect for a couple. Just one block off the Main Street in Waynesville, NC. The owners live next door and very very attentive but did not bother us. They were very helpful with providing information about hiking trails and area restaurants. The cottage was spotless, we will return.

Perfect location, wonderful hosts

  • 5 of 5

We just completed our second visit to The Cottage and it was as good as the last one. The Tracy's are wonderful hosts and really make you feel at home. The cottage is spotlessly clean and has everything you might need-even coffee!. The location can't be beat. It's an easy 2block walk to main street but still far enough away to be away from any street noise.

The welcome package is full of brochures and restaurant menus to help in deciding how you want to spend your time.

The lovely back patio is surprisingly private for a spot right in the middle of town. We enjoyed glasses of wine after hiking and even a take out dinner there one evening.

You can't go wrong staying here!

Great access to downtown Waynesville!

  • 5 of 5

If you're looking for a no-hassle, comfortable rental with a friendly knowledgeable host, this is the place.

The Cottage is located an easy walking-distance-just two blocks from downtown Waynesvile in a very quiet neighborhood. We slept like logs here-and so relaxing!

The well appointed private house has everything you need for a comfortable stay. And Tom, the host, is very knowledgeable about things to do while staying here. We didn't want to leave!

We really-really enjoyed our stay here! - And you will too! Susan and Larry, Paso Robles, CA

Just what the Doctor Ordered

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I wanted a home away from the "real" world. A quiet little place that was far away from our grown children's problems and the issues at work. I found The Cottage on line and said this has to be it. Late planning on my part complicated the rental process but Tom, the owner, made it all work out for us. When we arrived it was everything we expected and more. We had the peace and quiet we were looking for and the town of Waynesville had plenty for us to see and do. The theatre was a nice change compared to a movie theatre. The Actors were exceptional. The next time we go to NC to see the Biltmore Estate again, and we will go again. We will stay at The Cottage. But the next time we will plan ahead. :)
