Lovely, spacious 3/2+ Cape Bungalow in quaint neighborhood 1/3 mile to Beach

Fabulous 3 BR, 2 BA+ Cape Bungalow on secluded but centrally located neighborhood in the quaint town of Centerville in beautiful seaside Cape Cod, MA. My House is typical Cape Cod Grey Cedar Shake. It has a lovely side yard with Old Growth trees perfect for coffee & paper in the AM, a book and a nap in the afternoon or cocktails or a BBQ in the evening. It is here, every year, that I spy Fireflies; the harbingers of Summer!

Why Anne E Mayo chose Cape Cod

My parents were born and raised in Boston. We have family throughout New England particularly in the Boston Metro area. My 3 sisters. brother & I spent every Summer in Centerville, MA. We love the area and continue to make the pilgrimage each year to beautiful Cape Cod.

What makes this house unique

I bought this property last year after several years of searching. I love it because it was built in 1965 in the typical Cape Grey Cedar shake style. The back patio is relaxing & private with an outdoor wood burning fireplace & indirect lighting. The new side garden is a welcome, private, shaded respite area to relax, unwind, read a book, or have a cocktail with guests. The side garden has a propane firepit. The neighborhood is secluded but centrally located, quaint and charming. Finally, I have friendly, kind, personable neighbors which is a big plus!

Best place to stay on the cape!

The house is lovely: furnishings are very nice & comfy. We loved the kitchen with all the cute local signage.

There are 3 bedrooms. The ones upstairs are spacious with small living areas which we loved.

The backyard is great! We spent most of our time out on the back patio & side yard. We sat on the back patio in the mornings & had coffee & in the evenings we grilled out. The Owner has an array of comfy patio furniture: Lounge, sofas, chairs, luvseat, & a dining set which was really nice. I hung out in the side yard reading on the lounger one afternoon. It was wonderfully peaceful & relaxing.

We loved the location. It's close to everything.

Main St Hyannis, Beaches & local stores, restaurants are right around the corner. One night, we went to a great concert at the Melody Tent ten mins down the road. The Owner was really nice & helped us out with recommendations. She also furnished us with tons of sightseeing brochures & guides. She checked in on us frequently to make sure everything was fine. We loved our time on the Cape & we thoroughly enjoyed this vacation rental. We definitely recommend Anne's home & her great hospitality!

Not worth the price. You can get more for your money elsewhere.

We enjoyed our stay in the Cape even tho this home had a lot to be desired and was not consistent with the quality of homes we normally stay at during vacation. During our stay we were interrupted by package deliveries and septic work. The homeowner even asked us to feed her fish and water her herbs. We never experienced a request like that but complied without hesitation. However, since we returned home we have been the recipients of two frivolous complaints from the homeowner. She has accused us of stealing nine towels @ $270! Once her frivolous complaint was denied by the travel protection company she then accused us of stealing 6 plates, a cutting board, and another set of towels. This claim was denied also. My advice, STAY AWAY.

Owner's Response: First of all, this is the FIRST insurance claim that I have ever made on a guest at my rental property. I have rented my house weekly during the ENTIRE Summer for the past 4 years. And unfortunately, sometimes I find things go missing. It is a unfortunate reality of renting. Towels seem to be the most popular item to grow legs. I take things in stride, however, TEN TOWELS plus numerous other items is NOT acceptable in my opinion. AND there were no guests BEFORE these renters & no one AFTER them. I also *scoured* my house to locate all these items. I even looked in the trash. THEY WERE NOWHERE TO BE FOUND. So I contacted the renters to see if they, by chance, got the towels mixed in with their laundry as they have 3 young KIDS & they did a lot of laundry while they were here. (The lint trap was completely FULL & it was EMPTY when I left). Also, towels can get ruined easily when you have young kids. Also, things break. Accidents happen. And I understand that but I expect my renters to have the consideration to tell me if things got broken or ruined. But if they don't & *numerous* amounts of items go missing, I don't feel it's okay. And IT SHOULD BE REPORTED. I *absolutely* give my renters the benefit of the doubt. But there were also other things in the house that pointed to foul play. A locked door had been jimmied open & when asked, no explanation was ever provided. It's interesting bc during the rental, I had numerous exchanges with the wife and she repeatedly expressed her delight with the house and the amenities. She also left a note when she left: "Thank you for renting your lovely home. We had a great week!" So they confirmed repeatedly that they had a great stay BUT decided to write a bad review AFTER I filed 1 claim for the missing items. (NOT 2 claims as previously stated). My house is NOT a standard rental. It is very comfortable and is very tastefully decorated. I even provide fresh herbs for my guests for cooking. And all my previous renters have thoroughly enjoyed their stay at my home. I have never had any complaints. I DO NOT recommend these renters to anyone. Not only are they disrespectful of a vacation property, they aren't transparent about missing, damaged, or ruined items. And that to me wholly unacceptable.

Garbage is collected weekly WED AT 6 AM. Garbage must be placed in totes on the street by the driveway.
Guests are responsible for ALL supplies if they are staying longer than 3 nights ie. (Toiletries, dish detergent, dw pellets, cleaning solutions, laundry detergent, tp, paper towels, garbage bags etc.)
I furnish mattress pads, bedspreads and pillows.
Guests must supply their own sheets, bath and beach towels.
If you are arriving from out of town, sheets and bath towels can be provided for $300 RENTAL FEE, $250 is REFUNDABLE. $50 CHARGE FOR LAUNDRY SERVICE.
Damaged or missing linens are charged at $30/each item. Damaged or missing household items will be charged according to the replacement cost. An itemized receipt of damaged or replacement items will be forwarded to you with your Security Deposit.
Guests are responsible for replacing low or empty propane tanks.
CVS, Shaws, Lambert's offer full propane tanks.
Key replacement $20/key.
Art projects of any kind are NOT permitted inside the house (magic markers, clay, gel pens, paints, crayons, dyes, etc). Guests must use the outside spigots to wash hands and any art project supplies.
I ask my guests to please keep all food & drink in the Kitchen, Dining room or Outside.
House must be left in good condition, swept, vacuumed and all surfaces cleaned.
Please notify me immediately of any emergencies, problems, issues, concerns or questions so that I may address or fix them asap. I have a Handyman who helps me with house issues.

Owner's Cancellation Policy

  • 50% refund if canceled at least 30 days before arrival date.
  • 100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
