About Katy

I grew up in Andover, MA and now live with my family in Maine. I have come to love the scenic beauty of my adopted state. I am an interior designer lucky enough to be featured in national magazines about once a year. I have brought that level of design to this house, and it's kitchen will be featured in a BH&G publication spring of 2014.

Katy purchased this lodge in 2012

Why Katy chose Sebago Lake

This property captured my husband and myself by surprise! We were not looking to buy our retirement house just yet, but we fell in love with the location. The spiritual connection to the planet from here is awe inspiring. We have always loved the lakes area, and own another home right nearby, on Long Lake, so we are very familiar with all the wonderful things to do in the area. This spot just spoke to us.

What makes this lodge unique

This home is all new in 2013. We loved the view, the feeling of being on top of the world. We bought a 1978 ranch on the sight, and gutted everything but the roof and foundation. We created a back wall toward the view that is almost nothing but glass. Awesome!

The house is beautiful and very well-maintained, with fabulous views of the mountains. The owners were very helpful. Heartily recommend this property to others seeking a quiet vacation.

Stunning, just stunning

  • 5 of 5

We rented this house for a long weekend with family, including a few small kids. The layout of the house was ideal (my husband and I were upstairs, and my cousin and her family was downstairs), and it is beautifully decorated (and renovated) with all the comforts of home. PLUS, and the best part of all, the views were incredible!! The most serene and relaxing place I've been in a long while to drink my coffee in the morning.

Katy is super responsive, fantastic to deal with and checked in on us throughout our stay. She just made everything so easy - something we especially appreciate when we travel with small kids. Her recos around the area were bang on too. We didn't want to leave!!

Back Home Again In Indiana

  • 5 of 5

Katy,

What a wonderful home! We were blown away by the view when we entered your home! So much so , that we did not unpack till the next morning as we wanted to watch the sunset. It was spectacular! And our twenty four year old was even impressed, which is harder to do every year. She even asked to come back again! We found the home just perfect for our family. The master bedroom is beautiful. Wish we had a telescope to peruse the landscape. The kitchen had everything except a hot pad. We improvised with a towel.

Our daughter loved the privacy the downstairs provided with the TV to herself. She loved the hot tub and even had some of her friends from a local camp over to watch a sunset one evening. She just loved your place!

We definitely will come back again if we travel back to Maine.

We had wonderful meals at

The Black Bear Cafe which had entertainment the night we were there, The Galley for hamburgers and Flatbread in Portland for a one of a kind pizza at noon. Very cool atmosphere! What an amazing home. You truly outdid yourselves .We will be back even though our kids will not be counselors at camp anymore. I think as adults it will prove to be a fantastic vacation!

Amazing home with an even more spectacular view!

  • 5 of 5

What an amazing home!! It doesn't look like much from the street, but just wait until you enter! This place is absolutely incredible! The home is beautifully decorated and has a lot of modern touches (the master bathroom is exquisite). But, the shining star of this home is the view. We sat outside for hours each day - drinking coffee in the morning watching the turkeys in the grass below and in the evening watching the amazing sunsets, fireflies and stargazing. Since we were there over the 4th of July weekend, we were able to see many fireworks shows each night right from the balcony too!

This home has lots of perks you won't find with other listings - room for 8ppl., 2.5 bathrooms, amazing views, a hot tub (unfortunately, we did not have time to use the hot tub during our trip, but I wish we did), dishwasher, ceiling fans, WiFi...the list goes on and on!

The farm stand about 1/2 mile down the road is just lovely! The owners are incredibly friendly and the produce can't be beat! The fresh egg stand at the end of the road is wonderful too! The local supermarket isn't too far away and there are lots of restaurants/cafes on Rt. 302 if you don't feel like cooking.

We also recommend taking the quick walk down the road to Hacker's Hill. The Hill itself is quite the climb, but the views from the top are SO worth it! Driving up the Hill is an option, but not on Tues/Thurs.

Katy and Pierre were great to work with as well! We had a small issue our first night in the home and Pierre was there within the hour to fix what had broken. We were incredibly grateful! Oh, and speaking of Katy, her artwork is hung all over the house - be sure you take some time to admire her amazing paintings while you're there!

Thanks for everything! We will definitely be back next year!

Mountaintop Gem - exquisite, inside and out

  • 5 of 5

Just back from a week at the Gatehouse. As previous reviewers have commented, this house is an ideal midway point for exploring either the Portland/coastal areas or the mountains. We've rented from VRBO on numerous occasions in the past, and this house turned out to be one of our favorites. The views of the Presidential range in the distance, along with Sebago Lake, are stunning. Indoors, the house is beautifully decorated, sunny, and spotlessly clean. The kitchen is top-notch, a real pleasure in which to cook (especially as you enjoy those amazing views)! We loved the open floor plan of the house, which enabled easy socializing. The master bedroom on the same level (with gas fireplace and ensuite master "spa" bath) is enormous, with huge sliders offering views for miles. Downstairs are two other bedrooms, another full bath and a large washer and dryer. Right outside is a hot tub that we enjoyed every evening. Neighbors are few and far between - you can see other houses, but the Gatehouse felt extremely private. The owners were also a real pleasure to work with. We will return!

This house has the kind of spectacular view that is very hard to capture in pictures. It is a great spot to use as an inspirational getaway, a place for spiritual or artistic awakening. It can also be a great place to start and end day trips all over the lakes region.
