Luxury Cabin With 100' Of Lake Superior Shoreline!

Our first impressions were how clean and well maintained this luxury property was, and that impression never went away. Everything is of a high standard and the owners are quick and efficient to work with. The location is just close enough to town, easy enough to ride bikes there but far enough up the coast to be away from the noise. From this base you can easily get to any of the major sights between Two Harbors and Thunder Bay. We did too many hikes to list here.

The view out onto the lake from the living and dining area never ceased to amaze. Fire pit with lots of firewood is a really nice bonus, once the sun went down the stars were bright and vivid over the lake. There is good rock picking on the beach and the constant sound of the waves is so relaxing.

This is a really great place and we plan to come back.

Great Location/Beautiful Cabin!

  • 5 of 5

We were spoiled with our week at Stones Throw in Grand Marais. Such a beautiful cabin, amazing views, close to town, etc. We enjoyed many trips to World's Best Donuts and enjoyed meals at Angry Trout and Sven and Ole's. The kitchen and cabin were so lovely and well-appointed that we enjoyed eating most of our meals in. We also took a few day trip adventures nearby: Devil's Kettle and spent some time rock hunting on a nearby beach, Portage National Monument and High Falls, Artist's Point in town (always my kids' favorite), and Temperance River Gorge. We enjoyed a couple days just hanging at the cabin and enjoying the beach there as well. It was an unusually hot few days this week, but being close to the water always seemed to provide a good breeze and the basement was always nice and cool. It was one of the few times that a dip in the cold big lake was truly enjoyed. We LOVE the North Shore and can't wait to return again next summer. Thank you for offering your cabin as a rental John and Julie--it was an absolute delight!

home on the big lake

  • 5 of 5

first, the home is beautiful and very comfortable and spacious. the view is incredible, the beach below threw up several agates to find, and everything we needed was there. second, the owners are so kind and helpful with suggestions for activities -- the rental process couldn't have been smoother. third, the location is perfect!! the north coast of lake superior abounds with things to see, hikes to take, and the beauty of the ever-present lake. grand marais is quite a cute little town with everything one could need. it was so nice to cook in the kitchen and relax over a healthy home-cooked dinner, then splurge on world's best donuts (fried in lard!) the next day. I highly recommend this spot!

Happy campers

  • 5 of 5

We stayed 7 nights at stones throw cabin. All we can say is it was GREAT!!!!! Everything was exactly as pictured on the vrbo site. Spent our days sitting on the decks watching the ever changing lake. Walked the beach, make a campfire with s'mores. We just had a great time. The house is spotless, the beds are beyond comfortable and the view can not be beat. Thank you John and Julie for letting us share in your special place.

Absolutely perfect!

  • 5 of 5

This is an absolutely beautiful cabin in such a perfect, peaceful setting. Our girls literally spent hours on the beach - they were fascinated with all the different rocks and must have thrown about a thousand in the lake :) beautiful view to wake up each morning to right on the lake. Very comfortable- cannot say enough about how much we enjoyed our week here. We will be back!

loved this home and will definitely be back!

  • 5 of 5

This home (cannot call it a cabin) is absolutely beautiful, right on the water, amazing view. The inside of the home was so well laid out, the owners say its small but it does not feel that way at all. the beds were very confortable, loved the kitchen, dining and TV area. we stayed in the lower level and was so private with another full bath, desk area and another tv area to watch movies. we spent alot of time sightseeing and eating out at all the fabulous restaurants in Grand Marais, it was so nice coming to this beautiful home at night to relax.
