Nice cottage, but

  • 4 of 5

Very nice and comfortable cabin, and well cared for!! New mattress and carpet, windows, and doors. Also great supply of needs, as in paper goods, dishes, silverware, sheets, kitchen towels, etc. the only reason for not giving 5 stars is because of the location so close to the road, and so close to the water, no yard for the kids to play. No where to ride bikes. Perfect cabin for folks without kids for sure!

Great Place

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I rented this cottage the first week of July. Super cozy and clean! We LOVED the view of the lake and the dunes from the back porch. So incredibly beautiful! The kitchen was equipped with everything we could possibly have needed for the week and we appreciated all the extras that you always wish you would have brought but never do. (matches, small tool box, toothpicks, lighter fluid etc)

The bathroom was spacious and clean...overall, we were quite surprised by how open and spacious the whole cottage was. For a smaller rental, it didn't feel cramped at all!

Dave at Anchor Summer Rentals was very easy to work with on the reservation and thorough in answering my questions and keeping the lines of communication open.

If you've never visited the area before, keep in mind that the town is extremely busy during the Summer and the road that this rental is on is the main road in and out of town. There is high traffic (that in my opinion travels WAY too fast) and lots and lots of Dune vehicles that travel past the cottage throughout the day and into the evening. If you have small children, this is something to keep in mind since the cottage sits very close to the road.

We absolutely loved this cottage and I highly recommend it. You won't find any better views of the dunes and water, it's close to a public beach and downtown and the cleanliness was top notch. Quite a pleasing find. We will be back.

Well maintained, very clean

  • 4 of 5

I recently spent a week here and loved the place. It is very well maintained, clean, the owners pay attention to details, the photos were so accurate I felt like I knew the place as soon as I walked in.

My primary complaint is one nothing can be done about - it's very close to the street which has a lot of traffic noise. My second one is the beds were uncomfortable. The bedroom is at the front of the house which is a noise issue. There are two twin beds with very thin mattresses so I skipped that option. One sleep sofa is right off the kitchen and since the door there didn't have window coverings, and the fridge was a little bit noisy (I'm very sensitive to noise), I felt a little too exposed. The one on the other side of the room didn't have great air circulation so I didn't try either of those sleep sofas.

I opted for the one on the enclosed porch because of the air flow, ceiling fan, and the view (oh my goodness, what a view), but the mattress was horrible. I finally grabbed every blanket in the place and put them under the sheets for padding. I'd recommend bringing extra mattress pads or inflatable mattresses.

I would however go back here in a heart beat. The location was great, the neighbors were quiet, everything worked well. I was there alone for a soul searching trip and loved being able to venture out for walks. I know it says it sleeps 8 but I don't think I'd try it. I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the bathroom and the storage options in it. The kitchen was well stocked with appliances and gadgets - they could just use some better quality knives for people like me who like to cook.

I highly recommend it and the agent from Anchor Summer Rentals was very professional, friendly and easy to work with.
