Year round vacation home with first class amenities including large private pool, private tennis courts, private lakeside beach, private pier with moorings for boats, expansive picnic area with playground, shuffleboard, horseshoes, boccie ball, putting green, and clubhouse. Walk to the Lake or take the bicycle path outside our home that goes around the lake. There are also hiking and off road biking trails that go on for miles just a short walk from our home. We are in the tranquil Dollar Point home development but only 2 miles from the shops and restaurants of Tahoe City and only a 15 minute drive to the ski resorts of Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows. The Northstar resort is only 20 minutes away. In addition to our normal rates, a Ski lease is available from Nov 1 through April 30, for a minimum of 4 months, for $2,400 per month. Tenant pays all utilities and snow removal. $400 cleaning fee and $3,500 refundable security deposit apply.
We have spent the past 30+ years vacationing with our 4 children in this home and are now enjoying it with our grandchildren.
Linda Shambaugh purchased this house in 1982
This home has a fantastic location within walking distance of the Lake and an easy drive to the ski resorts in winter. The homeowners association has every amenity you would want for a relaxing vacation. We are right next to the bike path that circles the Lake and have direct access to miles and miles of hiking and biking trails in the forests that surround us. If you need a quart of milk or a late night snack there is a convenience store directly behind us, the only one of its kind for over 2 miles.
Can't fit entire review. Wish I could add photos. Some highlights!
If you are traveling with children, you may want to go directly over to the wet bar and cover up the naked lady carved in wood under the glass of the wet bar. We kept her covered with towels during our stay, but the kids all got a good eyeful of naked lady anyway. (Side note, the proportions were anatomically incorrect or hinted of augmentation).
If you love the 1970’s you are going to love this place. We debated whether it was circa early 80’s or late 70’s and settled on 70’s. We wondered if all the furniture had been there since the 70’s or was it picked up from thrift stores or the “free” section of Craigslist. Whichever way, it is authentic.
No need to set an alarm! We got a 5:30 am wakeup call from a 7-11 delivery truck one morning and a 6 a.m. wake up from the beer delivery truck on another. You know that loud warning beep when a semi-truck is in reverse? That is the one. So much reversing for such a small parking lot. If the trucks don’t wake everyone in the morning, you can open & close the dishwasher in the kitchen instead. The dishwasher door squeaks louder than any alarm clock.
Not sure about that “forth bedroom” which doubles as the laundry room. It is suspiciously located two steps down from the rest of the first floor, between the hall and the one car garage. The laundry room hook ups are just inside bedroom 4 on the right. Make sure you open all doors and windows when using the dryer, as bedroom 4 will get about 10 degrees warmer and have a strong smell of dryer lint. Not sure if the ventilation is done incorrectly or because it is so dirty behind the dryer. There is a LOT of lint back there! It made me feel really good about the cleanliness of my own laundry-room-behind-the-dryer area back home.
We chose this place in part for the pet friendly aspect. The yard is not fenced, so bring a chain if you want to leave a dog unattended in the yard for any amount of time. Don’t worry about your pet messing up the landscaping. It’s pretty much all dirt and weeds. Please be careful if you do go out into the back yard, as there is a step missing on the deck and could potentially be a falling hazard. If you want to spend the day at the private community beach, plan to leave your dog at the house, as the beach is not pet friendly.
A great place for families and people w/ a dog. Nearby pool & beach club access were not only incredibly convenient but loads of fun for the kids. Close to pretty much everything you would want to do on the lake. I would definitely rent here again!
This house is great for the families with kids. The Dollar Point club is right across the street and has a lot of things to offer including heated swimming pool and 3 tennis courts. Also it has a small playground which all the kids (age of 4-5) occupied most of the time. The house is clean and cozy with kitchen and family room downstairs and 3 main bedrooms upstairs. Kitchen was equipped with everything we needed for cooking with initial supply of basic things provided. Internet connection was great and TV with cable hooked was a plus too. There are hiking and biking trails available right across highway 89 (5 min walk from the house) and the private beach is great too with a new deck and volleyball court. Unfortunately, all kayaks that are stored on that beach are private and not for rent. But this was the only minor thing. We called nearby rental place and they brought SUP board right to the beach within 15-20 min. Overall we liked the house a lot.
We had a wonderful time here ! The Pool and Tennis Courts are right across the street, Easy access to the main road and the private beach is wonderful as well.
