About Alana Coleman

Although I now live in Ottawa, I grew up on Prince Edward Island and it will always be my home. My husband, three children and I travel back as often as possible and feel fortunate to have a place on this Island paradise we call home ... even though we can't be there all year-round to enjoy it, there is no place that brings more happiness to us.

What makes this cottage unique

As someone who has rented cottages on Prince Edward Island for several years, I know how difficult it can be to find the right family cottage. If you are not interested in a typical 'row' cottage crammed between 10 other cottages and instead want a quiet, spacious setting where you can walk to the beach and play with your children this is the spot for you. New, clean and conveniently located close to grocery stores, Laundromats and famed tourist destinations, while being only a 20-minutes drive from Charlottetown, you get the very best of all worlds.

We could not have asked for a better experience!

Finding affordable accommodations to fit our entire family is trying on a good day. (Grandma, Two sisters and their families) With young children in tow, we wanted a place with a yard to enjoy whenever desired and short walking distance to the beach. Every one of our needs was met and exceeded. Alana was wonderful to deal with and her mom Frieda was welcoming and helpful on arrival day. The cottage was amazing in it's location and well appointed, we needed for absolutely nothing, right down to toys for our children and a wagon to haul everything to the beach. The lousy weather went unnoticed as we enjoyed the screened in porch and the beach daily, if rain threatened, we were back in minutes. The wonderful accommodations sure made camping the second week difficult, ;) we were completely spoiled and are eager for our next visit! Thank you Coleman Family for sharing your piece of heaven with us, we would recommend your cottage to everyone!

Charming family-friendly cottage

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely stay in this charming, family-friendly cottage. We were four adults and two children and there was ample room for everyone. The cottage is fully-furnished, including a dishwasher and washer/dryer! We enjoyed having our coffee on the porch each morning, gazing out at the ocean. The large beach is only a short walk away. We spent hours collecting shells, making sand castles, splashing about, etc. North Rustico is a great little town, with everything you could need (grocery, beer store, boardwalk, fishing, bakery, used books and ice cream!), and was perfectly situated for day trips around the island. We will definitely be staying here again!

Home away from home

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here with friends for a week and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house is immaculate and welcoming; fully equipped with linens, beach items, kitchen items, etc. The setting is beautiful and peaceful. It was lovely to be able to sit outside on the front porch or back screened porch to relax and take in the views, which even included a bald eagle our last night there. We found the location to be a perfect home base for day trips to various parts of the island. There are several great restaurant options within 10-15 minutes of the cottage, our favorites being Blue Mussel Cafe and The New Glasgow Mill. We can't say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay!

Great Cottage, very clean , fantastic view, ideal location.

  • 5 of 5

We recently stayed in this great cottage for a week in July.

The cottage is in Anglo Rustico which we found to be very peaceful and picturesque, and only a 10 minute drive to North Rustico village. It is a great launch point for trips all around the island.

There is a nearby store, Gallant's which is only minutes away, and well stocked for most needs including fresh seafood and meat which we purchased several times.

The cottage was an ideal layout for us a family of 4 with kids and Grandma too, whom enjoyed having her own bedroom. The cottage is well stocked for cooking and BBQ, and the screened-in room was perfect for evenings.

The private beach is a short walk under 10 minutes and not at all busy, like most other beaches, ideal for kids with shallow water and nice sand. You can walk quite a distance from end to end.

I would highly recommend this rental, to families looking for a quiet cottage in a beautiful area that is still easily within reach of most places to visit.

Exactly What We Were Looking For!

  • 5 of 5

It was my husband who stumbled upon this find. We had been searching for a cottage just like this, with a reasonable rental price. We had family friends coming from Ontario with their 4 kids, so ample room and comfort was a priority, as were 2 bathrooms. We were more than happy with the set up. We had plenty of room, the kitchen was well-appointed, which made meal time a breeze, even with 2 cooks in there! I especially enjoyed having some baking implements and pans. We found the bedrooms spacious with good sized closets. The kids quite enjoyed the toys and games that were there. It honestly felt just like being in a home away from home.

Most mornings we spent on the front deck, sipping coffee, enjoying the ocean view and the quiet. Or, we could hang out in the sun porch if it was a tad cool and breezy, a real bonus on nice nights. There is plenty of backyard for romping around in, too.

It is a bit of a walk to the beach, but very doable with your gear. The beach is very nice and you can walk and explore a fair bit, especially at low tide. The kids were fascinated with finding hermit crabs and we even found a little lobster. How cool is that?

We were so handy to Charlottetown for the odd bit of shopping and day trips to Stanley Bridge (the aquarium and bird display is well worth going to), Kensington (best fish and chips at the Stone Island Pub, ever) to Summerside (picturesque waterfront and shops) and Cavendish were highlights as well.

We also were able to have some great feeds of fresh seafood, compliments of the rather handy seafood pound in North Rustico, only a few minutes away.

All in all, I would say this was an excellent experience. The owner was most helpful with any questions and concerns. I highly recommend this cottage.
