About Michael Flanagan

We are truly blessed to be the stewards of this beautiful seashore retreat. This house has an amazing character to it that blends perfectly with the great beauty and power of the ocean.

We have done all the maintenance and renovations to this home personally since we have owned it. We continue to improve it every year.

Michael Flanagan purchased this house in 2003

Why Michael Flanagan chose Gold Beach

The Southern Oregon coast is a truly magical place. There are underwater caves that are only visible at very low full moon tides. Pistol River has some of the best wind surfing/sail boarding conditions in the world. There are hikes along the Rogue river and Pacific Crest trail by the ocean that are incredibly beautiful. The Port Orford Headlands have trails that go along the ocean where you can stop and watch seals swim around the coves.

Otter point is a 5 min drive from Ravenshores: It is an ocean cliffs lookout and or 'hike to the beach' site that is a spectacular 'must see' while you are here.

There are so many beautiful places to visit here and they are all within a 5 -30 min drive from ravenshores.

What makes this house unique

The outside setting of this house is very large and totally private. There are large mature spruce, madrone, and pine trees that make up a private forest with short trails. Miles of pristine beach are a 3 minute walk from the house.

This house has a magical feel to it. You can always see and hear the ocean. It is alive with the spirit of nature and the energy of the forest and ocean. The stars at night look brighter and bigger here. Sometimes you can watch the full moon set on the ocean, but it is usually very early in the AM.

Ravenshores is very private you have the forest all around you that blocks the north wind but you have a south view of the ocean.

Charming, beautiful and peaceful.

  • 4 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house had ample space for 7. It is full of wonderful art

and infused with a warm, cheerful feeling. The view is spectacular & the grounds are lush and private. The beach access was a bit tricky--due to high water. We waded the creek once, then decided it was easier to drive the short distance to the public access. The owner was friendly, accessible and flexible.

Owner's Response: In the winter time the water level in the creek may rise up a little bit. It is usually easy to cross and normally not an issue closer to the summer months.

Great house in a beautiful place!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I loved this house! The decor is very artsy and funky which is right up our alley. The house was clean! That is huge for me! And plenty of room for all. It's in a beautiful setting where we could all relax and enjoy each others company. We could easily drive to Gold Beach or Port Orford and we enjoyed both during our stay. Hope to make it back some day!

A Treasure in the Pines!

  • 5 of 5

Ravenshores is a wonderful place for a vacation for any large group. We had nine people in our group and we had made previous arrangements at another location but due to a double booking...we were notified the day before we were supposed to arrive that that that location was no longer available to us. We were panicked and began looking for alternate locations. We came across Ravenshores and were intrigued. I contacted the owner who was absolutely wonderful! He jumped through hoops to try to accommodate us at the last minute. He was able to get the place cleaned and prepped the same day another group was leaving. The cleaning staff did a fantastic job of getting the place ready for us and I must say that they more than met our expectations.

Ravenshores is located in a wonderful and convenient area with easy access from the freeway and just a 5 minute walk to the beach. Gold Beach is only a 15 minute drive so shopping is convenient and there are more than enough beaches and hiking trails to keep you entertained for quite some time. Ravenshores is surrounded by magnificent fur trees and beautiful sweet peas. The view of the beach from the deck is awesome and makes it really easy to not want to leave the house. The house itself is filled with whimsical works of art and it is fun to discover something new each day. The kitchen was wonderfully stocked and the linens were clean and fresh. There are four bedrooms and the house easily accommodated our nine adults. The great room offered wonderful views of the surrounding area and was perfect for gaming and good conversation. We had a lot of fun just telling stories and laughing. I would personally like to thank Mike, his wife, and his wonderful staff for making us feel so comfortable in their lovely rental property. We will be returning next year and look forward to creating more wonderful memories. This is truly a treasure in the pines and worth seeking out!

So Relaxing!

  • 5 of 5

Such a perfect spot for a family vacation! There is a wonderful ocean view from the large deck which is protected from the winds by the lovely, treed setting. The only noises you will hear as you fall asleep each night are the bird calls and the distant sound of the surf. The house is comfortable, well appointed, and decorated with Unique artwork and whimsical marine themes. My family of five plus dog had plenty of room and were able to welcome an overnight guest, with room to spare. Ophir beach is amazing! We highly recommend this lovely vacation getaway where you can leave the cares of the city far, far behind!

beautiful home, hate to leave

  • 5 of 5

Ravenshores is outstanding. Hands down, the place with the best views and setting we’ve been. Ocean, trees, birds, privacy, deck, and sunsets. Really, it’s that good.

This house is beautiful, extremely comfortable, and exactly as advertised. Yes the decorating is funky, as you can see in the pictures but we loved it. The house is very clean. It has fabulous views, and you hear the surf (1/8th mile away across 101) from the deck. We just spent a month at the house and really don’t want to leave. We love to cook and are tough critics in the kitchen/food department, but the kitchen is well-equipped and works well with the living room/great room. You’re all part of the cooking scene! We also love to go out to eat, but have rarely made it because this house is just too comfortable and night after night, we’d rather just stay here.

There are amazing places to hike in the area. Our favorite was Samuel Boardman Whaleshead Beach to Thompson Bridge, with amazing ocean views, sand dunes, waterfalls, streams, deep woods, tree tunnels, all of it in just 5.5 miles round trip! There is also great birding (Arizona beach), phenomenal trees at Schrader, and tons of wildlife all around (Elk, Deer, Otters,…). So much beauty all around here. It’s enchanted. We hope to come back, for another very long restful stay.
