Perfect getaway!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed at the cottage as part of her birthday celebration. The house is on a remote road south of the Chippaux State Forest and about 30 minutes from Gettysburg. We couldn't have asked for anything more out of a cottage stay. Highly recommended!

At this price, I don't want to change my own sheets

  • 2 of 5

This is about the particular place and the "sharing economy" more broadly: If I am paying as much as a hotel, I don't want to take my own garbage out and change my own sheets. Sharing means 'I have extra, you take some for free. And maybe help me out around the house.' At this price (more than a hotel) I don't want to help around the house. Sorry. So either the price needs to be lower or the expectations from guests need to be lower. At a hotel a maid cleans every day. It is the cost of doing business. Unfortunately the place was quite musty too. A function of expecting guests to do so much I believe.

Cozy

  • 5 of 5

We had a great experience and this cozy little cottage. It was nice to disconnect with no tv. We enjoyed tea and games along with the nice touches left bu the owner. Can’t wait to get back for a longer stay.

Pleasant relaxation and hiking

  • 5 of 5

The mountain cottage was exactly as it was described and we were very satisfied. The cabin was clean and cozy. Among the highlights of the cabin were its proximity to Waynesboro, PA; the rocking chairs under a ceiling fan on the front porch; the proximity to the wonderful Pen-Mar Park with the access to Appalachian Trail; and the available board games. We did choose to drive to Pen-Mar to hike even though their is walking access to the Appalachian Trail because the road to trail was narrow for walking. We had a lovely visit with family and the teenagers were able to set aside electronics and sink into 3 days of restful family time, augmented by the board games. We will definitely return when visiting in the area! Thank you!

Owner's Response: We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay! The cottage definitely has the perks of being both far enough away from the hustle and bustle yet being close enough to access a variety of sights without without having to go too far. We are happy that you were comfortable and look forward to you visiting again.

We have been here for short weekend stays and for stays as long as 3 weeks. Hands down our favorite getaway for business travel in the area or for relaxation.

Very Enjoyable

  • 5 of 5

Rich & Christie make you feel right at home....The cottage was neat & clean and plenty spacious for two people....Beautiful scenery...

Rich had just returned home from having a serious operation...We had a little trouble getting on the internet so we called to see if he could give us directions how to log in on the phone but he insisted on walking over to do it personally.....Tried to talk him out of it but he came anyhow....What a great guy.....We will be going there in the future and will definitely call for availability.....If you stay there, go to Rocky's Italian restaurant about 10 minutes away....You won't regret it..

Owner's Response: We are so glad you felt at home while you were at the cottage. It's our goal to take care of the little things so that you can just enjoy your time away from the every day. Looking forward to seeing you again on your next visit.
