Overview

About the property

3 Bedrooms, 3 Bathrooms, Sleeps 6

Brought to you by ParlerParisApartments:Le Magenta is a spacious three-bedroom apartment perfect for those who need to get a little work done or who just like the feel of a little elbow room while vacationing in space-starved Paris. A short Métro ride from both Gare du Nord and Gare de L’Est, the apartment is located on the third floor of a good building on a quiet street.

There are three distinct workspaces in the apartment, including one with a desktop computer and combination printer/copier/fax.

The entrance foyer is more than large enough to turn around in and has places to hang your coat, drop your umbrella, fix your hair and leave your keys.

Off the foyer, to the right, is the luxurious master bedroom, which boasts a Queen-size bed that can be made as twins. A beautiful armoire provides ample hanging and luggage space and an antique secrétaire has drawer space. At the foot of the bed is an ornamental fireplace with marble mantle and large mirror. The room’s flat-screen TV sits on the secrétaire for easy viewing from the bed.

The second bedroom can also be accessed through two doors, from the foyer, and from the living room - an unusual feature. The Queen bed found here can also be separated, but with the two twins remaining relatively close together, between the built in cabinetry that surrounds the bed, where you can tuck your belongings away. This room also has an ornamental fireplace and mirror at the foot of the bed and beside the window, a desk and chair.

One of the apartment’s two showers sits just inside the apartment door, to the left. It has a bamboo floor and vanity, and elegant fixtures installed as part of the apartment’s recent renovation.

Moving left from the foyer one enters the grand living room that will likely be your main meeting place during your stay. Its attention-grabbing L-shaped magenta canapé, or sofa, is an excellent place to catch your breath, appreciate the lovely painting on the opposite wall or chat with your flat-mates in the comfy chairs just opposite. Two well-dressed windows allow natural light to illuminate the space, which also includes a small desk that is part of a large, well-stocked bookshelf.

Passing through the living room and turning right takes you to the third bedroom. This room serves multiple purposes, acting as bedroom with high-end Queen sofa-bed, dining room with seating for 6, office with large desk, computer, printer/copier/fax, bookshelf, and TV room. Folding wood and frosted glass doors can be closed to give you maximum privacy.

Turning left when leaving the living room brings you to a very unique feature of Le Magenta. The shower closet is an enclosed space the size of a powder room, which is tiled on all surfaces save the ceiling. On the end wall is the gold shower fixtures with both hand-held and rainfall shower heads. A matching sink and mirror are also there for your convenience.

Continuing past the shower closet, one enters the efficient, fully equipped kitchen. From large refrigerator/freezer, to induction stove, to full oven, to dishwasher, to washing machine, this kitchen has it all. Also included are a microwave, water purifier, electric tea kettle, tea pot, a complete array of kitchenware including all cooking utensils, dinner and tableware and serving pieces.

Finally, just past the kitchen is the powder room, housing the apartment’s toilet (1), a sink and two mirrors.

Included in your rental is cable television, with access to over 150 channels (several in English) on both TVs as well as a selection of popular DVDs for your viewing pleasure. WiFi is also provided, as is free telephone with answering machine. Long distance calls to land lines in 100 countries is complimentary. This extends to calls to cell phones in the US and Canada.

beautiful clean large apartment; good value

  • 4 of 5

The apartment is beautifully decorated and clean. This apartment is a two minute walk, to an underground (metro) station Jacques Bonsergent. The apartment is on the third floor. You enter the building from the street, then there is a second set of doors into a stairwell. You walk up three flights of stairs to the apartment. The stairs are wide and easy to walk. You enter the apartment, and to the right there are two large bedrooms. Each bedroom has a big bed with plenty of storage space to hang clothes. To the left of the entry, is the living room which has the magenta sofas and chairs. The living room is much prettier then the pictures and is very large. Then at the end there is a study/dining/computer area. There is sofa which folds out into a comfortable sleeper sofa like double size. Please note the couch in the living room is also comfortable for sleeping. There is a computer, but does not work well (extremely slow). There is a small kitchen with everything you need, including a washer. The washer works okay. There is no dryer, and there is a rack to dry clothes on. This works ok for light clothes, but not well for socks or heavier items, so be sure to be aware of this. The bathrooms are set up like this: (1) There is a small room with just toilet and tiny sink, so tiny when you wash your hands, and use the water too hard, it will splash on the floor. The toilet room is right by the kitchen. (2) There is a room with just a shower and sink between the kitchen and study. (3) There is another room with just a shower and sink by the entry way. Both showers lots of hot water and good water pressure. But only one toilet. All the windows opened. We went in June it was hot, but with open windows not an issue. Loads of extra towels, and bedding. The apartment is beautifully decorated, clean. The woman who greeted us Hannah extremely professional. There was good security, with three locks, one for outer door, one for inner door, one for actual door to apartment. Overall good value for Paris. The only reason for the four stars rather then five is the neighborhood. We saw a lot of pretty neighborhoods with tree filled courtyards, lots of restaurants, stores to shop in. This neighborhood is a little gritty, and not as pretty as I had hoped for. It is not easy walking distance to any of the big sights. That is the ONLY negative, otherwise the apartment itself is fantastic, large, good value.

Beautiful and Dreamy!

  • 4 of 5

Stayed here with my mom and sister! It was dreamy and charming! Great location. My only complaint would be the bathroom situation. Just note that there is one toilet room (no shower) off the kitchen. The two showers are located elsewhere in the house and both the toilet room and showers are tiny. But that was minor in comparison to the rest of the house and all it had to offer! It's also 3 flights of stairs up. I didn't mind this, but it was hard for my mom after long days of walking. However, I think most apartments in Paris will have stairs. So overall, it was fabulous and worth every penny! My favorite was breakfast in the sitting room every morning! They have the best bakery right around the corner as well!

Very relaxing and spacious rental

  • 4 of 5

My family of 4 stayed in the La Magenta rental for about a week having never been to France or Paris before. The property management lady met us and showed us how to get in and how to use all the amenities. She was helpful and available for any additional questions we might have after she left if we needed. The rooms are spacious and even though there was only 1 toilet we managed just fine. There is a big sitting area in the front room and it has doors on both sides of it if you want or need privacy, but I wouldn't recommend sleeping on the couch in that room. Our youngest daughter slept on the pull out couch bed in the eating room area which closes off by a collapsing door and she seemed to be comfortable. Our eldest daughter stayed in the second bedroom and said it was quiet and comfy. My husband and I were comfortable and had enough space in the master bedroom even though the wood floors were very squeaky. It is centrally located in the city and when the windows were closed it was pretty quiet, even during the day. However, it is on the third floor and there is no lift so you have to take the winding staircase to come and go. But we had no real issues with it. However, someone with knee or hip problems would probably not want to stay here. There is not much to keep younger children (around 10 and under) because there were no American or English DVDs to play in the DVD player provided. So that's a recommendation I would suggest that the owner consider upgrading for the rental. The tenants in the apartments around us in this building seemed nice and were quiet for the most part. There are a couple local grocery stores near the rental and enough pots and pans and utensils to cook up some yummy meals if you prefer to eat in.

So, overall I would recommend this rental to a family of no more than 4 (or maybe 5 to 6 if there are younger children that can share the couch bed and the bed in the second bedroom). This is well located in the city if you want to do some sightseeing also. The Metro stations are close enough to walk to, but not too close to be too noisy.

Nice Paris apartment to spread out in.

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay in the Le Magenta apartment in the 10th Arrondissement. The Jacques Bonsergent Metro station was a quarter block away, and was convenient to connect to anywhere. A nice residential neighborhood with convenient bakery, grocery store, pharmacies, and restaurants. We loved Chez Marie Louise and the crepe stand on Place Jacques Bonsergent. Very close to Canal Saint Martin, Gare de l'Est, and Gare du Nord. We felt safe staying here and in the neighborhood.

Pros:

* Beautifully decorated apartment with a historic feel, but with the modern conveniences of an updated kitchen and bathrooms.

* The rain shower heads in the bathrooms were very nice.

* It was nice to have the room to spread out in with 2 bedrooms, a study that could be sectioned off to be used as a 3rd bedroom, and a living room.

* Very comfortable Master BR mattress.

* Hannah, the apartment manager, was very good to work with, and saved us a couple of times when we got locked out.

Cons:

* The apartment is up 3 floors of stairs with no elevator.

* The only toilet room is way too narrow and hard to move around in.

* No air conditioning (we were there in a heat wave). There were only 2 fans and it cooled off a little at night with the windows open, but it was hot in the day and evening.

* Only one set of keys. We went separate ways a lot and we got locked out several times and had to wait for almost an hour until Hannah could come let us in.

* Construction noise from the building next door being renovated that would start early in the morning (that we heard more since our windows were open).

* Creaky floors.

* Weak WiFi.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay in a real Paris neighborhood with nice views of typical Parisian architecture.
