Overview

About the property

two king beds + bunk room, 1.5 baths, sleeps 10

This one acre shaded lot is ideal for your family to relax. Located close to the cold water dam, no one can ever build across from us because it is Ouachita National Forest Wildlife Reserve lands. We commonly see deer, otter, beavers, bald eagles, and all kinds of water fowl. This unique area allows you to fish for trout all year round and we have seen 40 pound striper too. You can also spear-fish for Walleye.

Two bedrooms have king size beds and the bunk room has two twin over full futon beds. Linens are nice, and the home is decorated lovely, like you would your personal home, not the average rental property. Although we have no video games there, we have lots of card & board games. If you don't feel that you can get completely away from civilization, we also provide Apple TV, wi-fi, and Magic Jack. We even have lots of VHS tapes that are mostly family friendly. :)

We have a space to temporarily tie up your boat so that you can take off down the lake to waterski, swim, tube or wake board. You can even use our Big Mable (2 person) or Super Mable (3 person) tubes so you don't have to lug your own down here.

After a long day on the lake, you can come to the comforts of home with a fully stocked kitchen. We have all glassware, dishes, pots & pans, spices, even a crockpot. We also provide an electric smoker and small charcoal grill. You can relax by the fire pit even in the summer because (again our unique location), we have a cold mist/fog that rolls in off the river when Entergy generates cold water from Lake Ouachita. It is an amazing experience for sure. We even have extra blankets...because likely you will need them....even in JULY!

We are less than 20 minutes away from the largest gated community golf courses in the United States, Hot Springs Village!

During Oaklawn racing season, you can trout fish early morning and late afternoon but spend the day just 20 minutes away at Oaklawn Race Track. They also now offer gaming and simulcasting for other national tracks.

PLEASE NOTE....In February 2016, VRBO will charge guests of any rental property a Service Fee. This fee is going directly to VRBO-not the Homeowner. You will see it on all property price quotes. We, Homeowners, have no way of removing it when paying through VRBO. HOWEVER, it you pay via check, I can wave the fee!! This helps you greatly!

Payments. E-check is available at no charge. Simply type in your checking account number.

You may pay be credit card, however, you will be charged an additional 2.9%.

I highly suggest paying by E-check to avoid any extra fees!

About Kellye Simmons

We purchased this home for ourselves and have appointed it as such. You will not be under-whelmed by the decoration or location. It is prime place to slow-down.

We choose to unplug while we are there but still do have a few on the modern conveniences if you feel you can't get completely away from the office.

There is probably more there stocked than most rentals. Our philosophy is need some, take some, have some, share some. We hope your family enjoys this house as much as ours!

Kellye Simmons purchased this house in 2009

Why Kellye Simmons chose Lake Ouachita

This is one of the most unique properties on the lake. You are on Lake Hamilton but literally five minutes from Lake Ouachita. At night there is a cool mist/fog that rolls in off the lake when Entergy generates. Because of this cold water from Lake Ouachita, you can trout fish all year long. Our boys caught their first trout in July our first year there!

What makes this house unique

This is only rental on Lake Hamilton where you can trout or striper fish and still be close enough to go to Oaklawn Races during the day. Racing season is January 9 through April 11. Trout and striper fishing is year round!

Great Stay!

  • 5 of 5

My family of 4 plus our niece stayed 3 night's in March 2017. We had a great time. There is plenty of room. My 14 year old daughter really enjoyed having her own room! My son and niece loved the bunk beds. We enjoyed the fire pit and the lovely view. We fished a little but, didn't have any luck. This house is in a great location. We hope to visit again.

Great Trip, Friendly Owners, Fun Had By All!

  • 5 of 5

We have property in southwest Arkansas and come down a few times a year. This year, we wanted to switch up the trip and decided to spend the first few days in this rental home near Hot Springs. We had a great time! Kellye was the kindest and easiest person to arrange a trip with. We arrived a little early(30 min-1 hour early as we drove 12 hours to Arkansas overnight) and when we contacted her to see if there was any possibility of checking in a little early, she was able to make it happen, which was greatly appreciated. The house was beautiful and had everything you could need. Coming from Chicago, we are used to having to supply everything from toilet paper to tin foil when arranging rentals up north, so it was a breath of fresh air to not have to run to the store if we forgot something. We're used to spending time in Lake Ouachita in July and that water is very warm - when the description says that the house sits on the cooler dam water, it is not kidding! The water was chilly, but that did not stop us from taking a few dips and absolutely didn't affect our stay. We only wish we saw her note about being able to rent their boat while we were there - we would have taken advantage of that! Overall, very nice place with great owners. We couldn't be happier with our stay. Many thanks to Kellye and her family for sharing their home with us.

quiet getaway outside hot springs

  • 5 of 5

We recently spent two nights at this home during our visit to Hot Springs. The home was well set up and worked very well for our family of 5. It looks just like the pictures and is tastefully decorated. It was clean and well maintained. My oldest loved the bunk beds, and the second king room was plenty roomy for our two youngest to share (one slept in the bed and the other in a pack n play). The kids enjoyed being on the river and watching the boats go by. We could have stayed in a condo closer to town, but we prefer having more space and a yard for the kids to run around in, and this house met our needs perfectly! The owners were very easy to work with as well. I appreciated the cooking supplies, and the child friendly dishes. They also have a few games and toys for the kids. I would definitely recommend this house!

We are located on Lake Hamilton within ten miles of Hot Springs, AR, which is home of the Hot Springs National Park, Oaklawn Horse Racing & Casinos and Garvan Woodland Gardens. We are five minutes from the first free boat launch access which is at the dam between Lake Ouachita and Lake Hamilton. To locals...we are at the cold water dam on the river. This affords trout fishing all year long off our 100 feet for lake front property. 40 pound Striper and Walleye are also available. No one will ever be across the lake from us, as this is Ouachita National Forest Wildlife reserve lands. We commonly see deer, otter, beaver, bald eagle, and all types of water fowl. In town, we also take advantage of many family activities such as mini-golf, laser tag, bumper boats, go-carts, Mid-America Museum, Historic Downtown Bath House Row with Gangster Museum & unique shopping, and Magic Springs Amusement & water park.
