Great location and apartment!
My husband and I stayed here for three nights and loved it! It was the perfect size for us two and a great price for being so close to the beach. We also walked to dinner every night which was a plus! We will keep this in mind when staying at Kure beach again! :)
We enjoyed our stay. Its pretty tiny, but met our very basic needs. For the price, its awesome. Absolutely no issues with parking. The bathroom appears to be in mid renovation, once that is done it will be good. If you are looking for a very simple place to lay your head, this is an amazing value!
Great cottage style living quarters
At first (even though I had a decent idea of what to expect) I thought it was really small. After a few hours and we had a chance to settle in we loved it. It was right on the beach and the neighbors above and beside us caused us no problems. Full kitchen was only minus a dishwasher (which wouldn't have been needed anyway). The only real issue we ran into was keeping the place at a cool temperature with just the window unit and overhead fan in the living room.
I am bad at these kinds of reviews, but I will say I was thoroughly pleased and would go back again without hesitation.
A good value
If you're looking for cheap and right on the beach this is the place for you. Its not fancy but it doesn't need to be. A short walk for food and the pier, we stayed busy all 5 days we were there. Short drives up to Carolina Beach and down to Fort Fisher and the Aquarium. The beach was packed on Saturday and Sunday because it was the last weekend before school started, but by Monday it was super quiet, and stayed so the rest of the week. Parking wasn't an issue even with it being on street parking. The bathroom could use a little work, the paint job doesn't look finished and the exhaust fan didn't work, but those are minor complaints. It doesn't really have a view to the ocean and you will hear noises of the upstairs neighbors but even on hot days the apartment stayed cool and we enjoyed ourselves. Also you need to bring your own queen sized bedsheets. We felt it was a good deal given its location!
Kure Beach Rental
We enjoyed are stay. It was a bit small. You could hear the walking (running) above us, but I understand that when you are in a multi-story building that happens. The deck and walk ways did need some upkeep. Need to put ceiling fans in the bedroom area. The air flow was not good. The access to the beach and only a block away from restaurants and pier was great..
Thanks so much for your input. In the heat of the summer, a breeze is always a wonderful thing-- so we will look into a ceiling fan for the bedroom. Hopefully the A /C and ceiling fan in living area made for a comfortable stay nonetheless. Glad you enjoyed our very central and oceanfront location!
Needs Renovation Stay At Your Own Risk
I've never written a review on any stay that we have had. We stay in hotels/homes at least 4-5 times a year. We were celebrating our 3rd anniversary & also our 1st weekend away from our kids since I had given birth to my son 9 months ago. Before we arrived at the property we emailed & called the owner twice to find out check in/check out information & how soon we will receive our deposit after check out. We were given the address, parking information & entry codes but were never told times to check in/out or deposit return information. We were told to park on the street & parking in the driveway was strictly for the residents staying upstairs. I thought that there was a specific parking spot for the unit. We arrived just prior to noon & found the apartment to be in decent condition except for the dirty tub & sink. We left to go see a movie & the owner called & stated that the maid was there to clean the unit & couldn't get in because the keys weren't there. When then realized that the unit hadn't been cleaned. I've cleaned my own bathrooms for years & there was soap scum & build up from a long time inside the bathroom that didn't take just one renter to put it there. David stated that he thought that he told us what time check in/check out was. Obviously he didn't thoroughly respond to our email or voicemail. Thankfully we brought our own cleaning products & bed comforter. The next day we went out & when we came back we seen a car parked in the parking spot that we were told to park at. We called David twice & left him a message & got no response. I called the police to find out if the parking on the street was public & they confirmed that it was. The owner didn't disclose this to us prior to renting. If it is busy or in the prime season then there may not be a parking space for this unit. My husband then decided to call the owner again to see if he would pick up & he did. We expressed our feelings and he repeatedly told us that parking had never been a problem before & we should park at the pier & walk a couple blocks to the rental. He then told us that we could go upstairs & asked the other renters could they move their cars so we could park in the driveway (after we were told that we were not allowed to park there). The owner made it seem as if he didn't own the unit upstairs & he told us the next day that he did own the home upstairs. He apologized but continued to argue with my husband via text. We will never rent here again.
I am very sorry that some apparent misunderstandings spoiled your stay. The cleaning lady is fantastic and does a great job -- and she offered to clean even after you apparently checked in before noon--- which I was happy to accommodate even though check in is never before 2pm unless cleared by the cleaner.-----but you declined her services. I do agree that communication could have been better. But It was made clear that parking was on-street, and nobody before or since your visit has had a problem, so I am sorry that you did. I stayed on the phone for over 30 minutes with you to see what could be done--I indicated that you should try to discuss your predicament with the upstairs tenants( which I never said were not my clients), but you chose not to. You seemed to think that I was indifferent to your problem, but you were asking me to fix an issue that I simply could not fix. I appreciate your input -- your deposit was quickly refunded and I do regret your disappointing stay.
