About Paul Nelson
Our four kids grew up loving the Lake.
Sports & Adventure Activities
Relaxing, beautiful, quiet, enjoyable
We arrived and the owner greeted my family and helped us pack up the boat quickly and brought us to the island and helped us off load which was greatly helpful after a long road trip. Paul explained everything we needed to know and left us a binder with all info about the house and activities on the lake and on the mainland. We swam right below the house and relaxed in the hot tub on the lower deck. There was a tin boat to ferry yourself around or fish and some canoes and a paddle boat. (<5 min trip from dock to mainland)Fishing was good all around the island for small mouth and lake trout. The house was in good order and neat and the large deck and screened in porch were great. You almost feel like your in a tree house especially with the view and the wildlife; flying squirrels, eagles, great blue herons and loons chanting in the evening. We hiked around the island and went on a longer hike on another island (Bear). We visited the science center about 40 minutes away and drove down into Wolfeboro (1hr), in my opinion the nicest town around the lake. All in all, it was a calm, serene atmosphere which my family enjoyed. Thanks again Paul.
Wonderful week on the lake
We spent our annual family vacation here (2 active grandparents, 2 sons and wives, 2 granddaughters age 8 and 11). The setting is outstanding! There were lots of water "toys" available: 2 canoes, paddle boat, row boat, sailboat, motorboat with 15 hp., boat lift for out ski boat. The lake is huge and unbelievably clean and clear. There is a great fire pit on a wooded point - just right for s'mores and banana boats! Neighbors are beyond sight and hearing range!
Paul Nelson was very helpful by phone and text.
This house is truly a home with all the conveniences.
We were there during record heat (90+) so the lake got lots of use! And having the Perseid meteor shower during the week, just added to the fun!
We only spent 1 day on the "mainland". We went to Monkey Trunks adventure ropes course in Chocorua, NH. We highly recommend this for thrill seeking people who don't mind heights! It is 100% in the sun, so bring sunscreen!
To sum it up, our 40 yr old said, it is the most relaxing time he has every had!
Thank you Paul.
A perfect retreat for a relaxing week.
Initially my family was wondering why I wanted to rent an island property, but soon after arriving they realized it was a great decision. Peaceful, relaxing, and so quiet with everything we needed to enjoy a week together.
The small boat that was included in the rental was perfect for shuttling to and from the island (5 minutes) and exploring the nearby areas. Also included in the rental were 2 canoes and a paddle boat that my 7 and 9 year old boys thoroughly enjoyed. The swim platform, walking path around the island, fire pit and the old vhs kids movies provide plenty of entertainment without ever wishing we had a car in the garage.
The home itself provided ample space for our family of 4, Grandparents, and an occasional visiting small family. The screened in porch was where we spent the majority of our time, just beautiful for enjoying the lake views and listening to the loon that lived next door!
Paul was fantastic, very easy to work with and very accommodating. Our stay at "The Eagle" will always bring back fond memories!
Island living on beautiful Lake Winnipesaukee
This rental is ideal for nature lovers who want to get away from life! The home is on a small beautiful island accessed only by boat! We loved hiking around the island but canoeing around it and the close by islands is what we loved most! The house is equipped with everything you would need to make your stay comfortable. We used their large cooker for making a fantastic meal of fresh lobster that we bought in Portland Maine. The outdoor firepit is perfect for relaxing at night, listening to owls and watching the falling stars. In the early morning hours you can hear loons on the lake. The sunset and sunrise are definitely photo-worthy! We spent most days traveling to Maine, Vermont and New Hampshire... We can mark New England off the bucket list! The owners are very kind and helpful with whatever you need. Thank you Paul For letting us stay in your home.
We had a great stay. Beautiful spot and we loved being able to use your sail boat and canoes. That was great! The only negative I can say was it was not as clean as we would have liked when we got there. One of the toilets was clogged (so we had to unclog it) and the basement was very musty so we had the de-humidifier on which helped. Overall we had a great time and will definitely have you in mind for next year!
I mentioned the cleaning to my staff. They were very apologetic. The fan for the basement fan is now fixed and brings in lots of fresh air -- a whole house fan for this area! Glad you enjoyed your stay.
Our stay on Beaver Island.
Our group of 9 siblings and in laws from different European countries had the most excellent stay on Beaver Island. We did a lot of talking, bonding, laughing and loving. Some of us hadn't seen each other for nine years. A few of us had never been in the USA. The house had the right accommodations for us. Plenty of beds, linens, furniture, kitchen appliances, boats to take us to the main land, beautiful surroundings and even a few trails to take a few walks if we wanted to stay on the island for a day. We were able to get a personal ferry boat with its own skipper to take us back and forth to the main land because none of us had ever steered a motorboat. Lake Winnipesaukee was tremendously beautiful and peaceful. The leaves started to change color and we had perfect weather for the five days we stayed on the island. Off the island we walked the Flume and climbed other trails. We were able to take boat rides to see the wonderful lake, shores and homes around the lake. We hit a few country restaurants with excellent local cuisines. The house came with recommendations from the owner to make life easier in the house and to get the most out of our stay around the island, the lake and the White Mountains. I'm speaking for all my relatives and I can honestly say that we will never forget our stay on Beaver Island. We have fond memories and beautiful pictures and videos to keep the memories vivid. Thank you Paul and family to let us stay in your beautiful home and thank you Peter for ferrying us around on your boat. We will never forget our vacation in beautiful NH.
