The property was gorgeous. Loved the place, really enjoyed the breakfast provided.
The property was gorgeous. Prefect size for 2 families. Really enjoyed the continental breakfast provided.
Home away from home !
This was the best lodging experience we have had because the place is a three room suite attached to the main house so we had privacy as well as comfort. One room had a very comfy king sized bed with a wall TV and an attached bathroom with a A second room had a queen size bed with an area with a couch and a TV and a half bath. The third room was a kitchen with two burner stove and full refrigerator and full set of dishes and pans, etc. The access to the kitchen is from the room with the king bed but you can also get there by going outside of the queen bedroom and coming into the kitchen through the outside door...very close by. We were just one couple but if two couples come, it works well for the later sleepers to be in the queen room since the king room has the easiest access to the kitchen. The owners are gracious and helpful and will accommodate any special food needs you have. You can read about the great food they provide for breakfast, but we chose to have instant oatmeal due to dietary needs. We tried the tourist spots in town for dinner, but were disappointed. However, then we tried two other places and were surprised at the higher quality of food. The COOKERY is fine dining at lower prices than the downtown tourist spots. The food was not your steak and potatoes kind, but the special items you would find in very fine restaurants. The other local place that was good and a few miles out of town was THE SALMON BAKE. Both places get very busy during peak times, so plan carefully. In summary, if you want a home away from home, the Camai House is it ! I wish I could take it with us every place we travel !!! Thank you to the hosts who have thought of every detail to make you comfortable.....even shaving cream which came in handy as my husband's ran out as he was shaving !!!
Outstanding stay in this Seward home away from our home!
This was our first visit to Alaska and we were greeted warmly by our host Justyn. The rental was easy to find and a very convenient distance to the main attractions of Seward. The property itself is clean and inviting. Very bright and decorated with photography that the son has captured. The rooms are furnished with comfortable and modern chairs, a sofa, beds and anything you would need for a short stay in the kitchen. My 13 year old was glad to have a nice T.V. to catch some of the Olympic coverage on. It was fun to wake up to fresh juice, yogurt parfait, bagels and English muffins in the fridge. As well as fruit, she offered oatmeal and cold cereal. We also were able to make fresh coffee each morning before setting out for our activities. The bathroom had a lovely large tub and shower. The entire property accommodated, my husband, son and I; as well as my parents. We were able to sleep in while my parents enjoyed earlier morning coffee and television in the separate room with king size bed. Our hosts offered a book with activities and places to eat along with menus. She also made sure to check what we hoped to see and do while in Seward and offered great suggestions. Wonderful hosts!!
We felt like we were very close to great restaurants and all of the main activities the town has to offer. We went to Exit Glacier and took in the moderately strenuous hike in the rain, but enjoyed the view and up close experience. On another day, we were able to enjoy the 3.5 hour Wildlife Cruise with the Marine Life Tour as part of the Kenai National Park offering. It was one of the sunny days we had and we enjoyed the humpback whales, otters, eagles, puffins and endless scenery. We highly recommend a stay with this property as it covers all needs from ages 13 to 73.
The suite was perfect for our family. Justine was great and available throughout our stay.
The location was perfect. We hiked, fished, wandered Seward and beach combed all within minutes of the house. The suite was immaculate and the owners were a great source of local information. We had a great week.
Thank you for taking the time to write a review of our Guest Suite! So happy to hear you enjoyed our neck of the woods, Alaska is simply beautiful. If you ever find your way to Seward again we would love to have you as guests. Dale & Justyne

Was disappointing accommodation as attached to main home and not set up for 4 adults requiring 3 beds. Was clean and well maintained but the 2 queen beds were in the living areas. One in the lounge and the other in the thoroughfare to bathroom and "kitchen". With the fold out couch set up as an uncomfortable bed there was not enough seating for 4 people except on the hard chairs in the dining area or on the beds. Too far out of town to walk. We felt we were being watched by the owner as the sheer curtains in kitchenette area exposed us to family home outdoor area. We hadn't even started unpacking the car when Justyne's daughter greeted us by coming through a connecting door and we felt this was an intrusion of our privacy. The 'kichen" offered little in the way of cooking and we didn't find the breakfast "treats" that were left to our taste. Fortunately good restaurants in Seward and we spent as little time as possible in the accommodation. Also no laundry facilities and when we asked were told a self service laundry was in the town. We didn't have time to use this so waited till our next home. This accommodation was not we were lead to believe from the description in amenities and location and would not recommend if one wants to be self sufficient and walk to town. Justyne had been very helpful prior to our visit and we regret writing this review but for us it didn't work.
We almost wonder if there is some confusion between our place and other places these guest stayed in while on vacation?
Reading the listing is very helpful, we do not advertise having laundry facilities, or that we are in the middle of town (Seward is only 3 miles long), we are in the city limits, our suite is accurately described in our listing and we include pictures. We really work hard to make our guest feel comfortable as all our other reviews indicate. We are always happy to make adjustments in breakfast items when our guest ask. It's a little shocking to receive a review that was not satisfactory over a month after the stay, nothing was brought to our attention at the time of the stay. We enjoy our guest and getting to know them. As hard as we try, we can not please every single person who comes our way. But we know we provide an exceptional rental at an amazing value!
Impeccably clean. Very nice place in a great location - convenient to downtown Seward and to Exit Glacier hike (which I would highly recommend). The layout was a little strange for 2 couples to share: 2 bedrooms, a small kitchen, and 1 1/2 bathrooms. There was no common living room space to hang out in. Also, we would need to cut through their bedroom to take a shower and they would need to cut through our bedroom to go in & out of the entrance. But, it worked out fine. The owner was very nice and helpful. And, it was nice to have continental breakfast food left in our kitchen each day. Seward is a lovely place. I would recommend the Exit Glacier hike, the Sea Life Center, and the 5 hour boat ride out to see the Glaciers with buffet lunch. Also had great food at Chinook's Restaurant.
Thanks for taking the time to post a review and visiting our beautiful town of Seward. Glad you enjoyed your time in Seward. Our suite is advertised as a 1 bedroom suite, after the suggestions of our guest we opted to turn the oversized living room into a second sleeping area. All our guest agree, it's much better than a hotel room with 2 beds and it's a better value too! Thanks again.
Camai House Guest Suite is located within the Seward City limits, tucked back into a wooded residential neighborhood offering a quite and natural setting. The boat harbor & city center is only a short 5 minute drive with plenty of parking. Seward is ideal for the outdoor enthusiast, whale watching, fishing and hiking are only a few outdoor activities to enjoy while visiting.
