I'm an avid gardener.....a gardening 'Geek', I believe it's called! I lived in Seattle until age 15, then moved with my family to Port Townsend. After graduating in 1967, I moved back to the city. As I got older, I dreamed of moving back to this area, longing for a slower, and more beautiful, environment. Fortunately, it happened, and I now enjoy having my family, who have grown up in this area, come for holidays and/or play times on the beach. Each Easter since the year 2000, we have an egg hunt on the large grounds, and have been lucky enough to dodge the rain every year but one. This area has only 18 inches average of rainfall per year.....much less than the city!
Kathy Case purchased this cottage in 2000
This property was passed down to me, and I truly appreciate living here. As well as living right here in the middle of nature between Port Townsend and Sequim, it is easy to enjoy the many holiday and festival celebrations these towns celebrate every year. I especially love the holiday teas at Port Townsend's Victorian mansions. Hood Canal is also close by, and I especially like to visit Mt. Walker......it actually has a view of Seattle!
My home, and the vacation studio, is located less than 10 feet from the water's edge. Facing west, there are beautiful sunsets as well as stormy scenes, a wide variety of cloud formations, fog, rainbows, moon and stars, and yes, sometimes just a moody gray atmosphere.......but even that is romantic! And never boring.
We had a lovely time and really enjoyed your seaside cabin. You do a really good job. Thanks for the offer to hang out longer on Sunday. We went to the Dungeness Spit and had a beautiful exhilarating walk with a rainbow that lasted the entire time!
Great location- you are close enough to go to Sequim, port Angeles and port Townsend all in a day. Loved the view.
Loved my stay! Kathy was super helpful and not intrusive. I had everything I needed for my retreat and then some. The beach is lovely, the view is breath taking and the cottage is comfortable. Well worth it!
We had a wonderful weekend stay at Kathy's Place!! The location is really amazing--right on the water--we enjoyed breakfast on our above water porch and seeing nature right from our front door. We took our kayaks up and down the bay, which was really wonderful. We saw sea otters, seals, and lots of birds! The location is a great place to both get away from everything, as well as venture into nearby Port Townsend and take in everything the town has to offer. It is a great place for the price and what it offers. It would be nice to have more of a kitchen, but this is a simple cottage and its really great for the price! You can't beat being that close to the water. We would love to come again! Kathy was out of town when we stayed, but we hope to meet her in the future. Very accommodating!!
Kathy's Place is perfectly situated between a quiet rural road and Discovery Bay. It was a breath of fresh air. The cottage is small, but was very comfortable for the two of us. We loved the sitting spaces outside as well as the comfort inside. There is limited space, (no stove and 1 closet for.clothes), but if you're looking for a sweet sleep, while having equal access to Port Townsend and Sequim, Kathy's Place is one of our favorites.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and spent a lot of time bundled up on the deck taking in nature. We saw seals and what we think were eagles. It was amazing. The studio is small but totally great for my husband and me. I wouldn't be comfortable in such a cozy space with someone else though. The studio was very clean and inviting. The bedding was snuggly and the view was shockingly great. My husband delighted in measuring the tide levels too. Of the seven steps of the deck, the bottom two are submerged at high tide. Incredible.
Kathy was the perfect host, providing attention when needed, but also giving us our privacy.
The guest house is very warm and accommodating.
The house is a very easy drive to Port Townsend with ferries, restaurants, and shops.
We would definitely consider staying here on our next trip to the Pacific NW.
Located between Port Townsend and Sequim at the south end of Discovery Bay. A perfect 'home base' to explore the many wonders of the Olympic Peninsula. Recreation maps are available to assist you on your adventures!
If relaxation is your desire, you can sit in the many seating areas and just enjoy all that nature has to offer.
