About Kathy Case

I'm an avid gardener.....a gardening 'Geek', I believe it's called! I lived in Seattle until age 15, then moved with my family to Port Townsend. After graduating in 1967, I moved back to the city. As I got older, I dreamed of moving back to this area, longing for a slower, and more beautiful, environment. Fortunately, it happened, and I now enjoy having my family, who have grown up in this area, come for holidays and/or play times on the beach. Each Easter since the year 2000, we have an egg hunt on the large grounds, and have been lucky enough to dodge the rain every year but one. This area has only 18 inches average of rainfall per year.....much less than the city!

Kathy Case purchased this cottage in 2000

Why Kathy Case chose Port Townsend

This property was passed down to me, and I truly appreciate living here. As well as living right here in the middle of nature between Port Townsend and Sequim, it is easy to enjoy the many holiday and festival celebrations these towns celebrate every year. I especially love the holiday teas at Port Townsend's Victorian mansions. Hood Canal is also close by, and I especially like to visit Mt. Walker......it actually has a view of Seattle!

What makes this cottage unique

My home, and the vacation studio, is located less than 10 feet from the water's edge. Facing west, there are beautiful sunsets as well as stormy scenes, a wide variety of cloud formations, fog, rainbows, moon and stars, and yes, sometimes just a moody gray atmosphere.......but even that is romantic! And never boring.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a lovely time and really enjoyed your seaside cabin. You do a really good job. Thanks for the offer to hang out longer on Sunday. We went to the Dungeness Spit and had a beautiful exhilarating walk with a rainbow that lasted the entire time!

Cute cottage, beautiful grounds!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for two nights and absolutely loved our time here. We walked the rocky beach both days and found all sorts of goodies! The grounds are absolutely beautiful, Kathy has spent a lot of time tending the flowers and gardens, and it definitely shows! We loved walking the grounds and beach with our morning coffee. Short drive to Port Townsend and we also drove to ONP while we were there. There's plenty of other places to stay, but this cannot be passed up if you're looking for peace, tranquility or beauty! (And the bed is comfy too!!!!) Thanks Kathy for the great place to stay and for the coffee too! If we ever come back to the area, we would definitely stay again!!!

Owner's Response: You two are a great couple, and it is a pleasure to know how much you enjoyed seeing the beauty that the Olympic Peninsula has to offer! Maybe some day I will tour "your side" of the states. I hear it is beautiful also. Thanks so much for the compliments! It's always good to know that my efforts helped make your trip a good one.

Lovely bayside retreat

  • 5 of 5

We spent three nights at Kathy's cottage on the shore of Discovery Bay, and we enjoyed it very much. "Cozy" is a good word for it, but we found the space quite accommodating. The queen bed is very comfortable. We made breakfast using the microwave and kettle, and we had our big meals in Port Townsend and Port Angeles. We sat with our books on the little dock at the water's edge and listened to the waves lapping at the shore right underneath our chairs, and in the morning we woke to the tidal expanse that had appeared overnight. Very peaceful, very relaxing. (And the wi-fi was good!)

we enjoyed a number of things that help make Kathy's place special.

  • 5 of 5

The place is small but once you settle in you really appreciate the layout and setting. We enjoyed the sun hitting the porch where you can sit and enjoy the quiet. The private deck over the beach was also a privalage. I am a walker so loved the ability to walk along the extended side road that parallels wet lands and bird watching without getting into my car. I also walked in her beautifully planted yard and got ideas for my own yard back in Seattle. Remember has coffee pot and microwave only with small refrigerator. Kathy replaced our dirty dishes for clean ones because there's not a kitchen sink and we chose to eat take out at our home away from home.
