Charming setting, comfortable place
Charming, well maintained, quaint and well equipped--all of these apply! Especially nice to have a small garden balcony to sit and read the paper and drink coffee. Lovely neighborhood, well appointed small flat with antique lamps and lots of attention to detail. The owners are really nice people who provided start-up groceries and lots of availability to get started. Will definitely recommend this to friends and reserve this again when I have guests in the area.
Best place in Berkeley
As much as I am tempted to give this place a lousy review and keep it all to myself, that would not be fair. I loved Mi Casa, and came back for a second week long work-related stay just a few weeks later. It felt like home. If they had a second bedroom and more storage, I'd move in permanently. It's beautifully furnished, conveniently located, in a safe Berkeley residential neighborhood a short walk from Shadduck Avenue and the "Gourmet Ghetto" and had everything I needed for a very comfortable stay. I insisted my partner join me for part of the second stay. The fireplace.and the window seats looking out on the street were just the icing on the cake. Innkeepers are lovely people; easy to work with and they do everything to make your stay perfect.
Our stay at Micasa was fabulous and enormously enriched our stay at Berkeley. We stayed at UC Berkeley as visiting scholars, and spent 45 nights at this fantastic place, from August to October 2014. Mica and Ted made us feel at home from the moment we entered the door of their beautiful home. On our arrival, we were greeted with fresh orange juice, a bottle of wine, and beautiful flowers. We loved the apartment, with its tasteful art, antique Californian furniture, wooden floor and a beautifully equipped kitchen that had everything we needed (washing machine, dryer, we got especially excited about the beautiful ceramic 1951 gas oven). The bed was extremely comfortable; we slept very well in the quite bedroom, under the fine white bed sheets and linen. Our two teenage children slept on the fold-out couch, which was equally comfortable. Ted and Mica are such lovely hosts, they were keen to give us full privacy, but whenever we needed anything, they were there and ready to help us out, provide information, and guidance. We were sad to leave Micasa and California, we would have loved to stay there longer, and we will definitely come back. Thank you for everything, Mica and Ted!
