We live in Manhattan, enjoying weekends and off season time at the beach house in Montauk.
Karen purchased this House in 2009
Why Karen chose Montauk
This home has been in my family since my aunt and uncle purchased it new in the mid 1960's as a weekend and vacation residence. The Leisurama homes, sometimes referred to as a 'Macy's' house, were showcased and purchased at Macy's stores in NYC and on Long Island. The houses were featured at the NY World's Fair in 1964 as representations of luxuries even working class Americans could afford for their family. Nixon and Kruschev's 'kitchen debate' took place over the original kitchen's design. I enjoy great memories of time spent here as a child, and am now creating more fun times with my own family.
What makes this House unique
Lovingly renovated, I sought to retain as much of the classic mid-century modern Leisurama details in the main living area, while refreshing the bedrooms and baths and adding 21st century technology and amenities. With great space for entertaining, a short walk to ocean beaches, or a quick bike ride to town, this house is perfect for a relaxing, low key vacation for friends, couples, or families.

Sports & Adventure Activities
Comfortable abode for our six man fishing crew with outdoor amenities - grill, patio, outdoor shower and bucolic backyard setting. Landlady is very accommodating and always anxious to make one's stay enjoyable.
The pictures do not do this house justice! The house was perfect and was a short walk to the beach. The backyard was perfect and very relaxing.
Karen the owner was very easy to communicate with and had the house perfectly stocked for anything you could need.
I would definitely stay here again
Perfect Beach House Getaway
Kitchy, fully stocked, clean and perfect for those looking for a getaway to Montauk and stay in Ditch Plains. Karen has stocked the house everything you need and more. Literally. There are bicycles, boogie boards, beach toys, beach chairs and towels, kitchen accessories, pack and plays, board games, books and movies, toilet-paper, paper towels, WiFi and cleaning supplies galore! Great, easy bike ride or walk to Ditch, which the kids loved. The house itself is adorable and so well appointed. Oh and I can't forget; there is the BEST outdoor shower ever. LOVE that she kept true to the Leisureama "style" with memorabilia throughout the house but updated what needed to be updated. It should also be noted that the house is beyond clean and inviting. She made our stay as seamless as possible; she's a pleasure to deal with and might just be the most responsive person I've ever dealt with, it was so lovely. And that we could bring our dog with us was a total bonus as she loved it too! The only reason I don't give it a five is that sometimes in the summer humidity it would be great to have the option of AC to sleep at night, personal preference as the fans don't always cut it for me. Also, the proximity to RT 27 behind the house made it a bit noisy at first, if you can say that in Montauk, but you get used to it. Bottom-line, we would definitely recommend it to friends, family and will hopefully have the pleasure of staying with Karen again.
Great little Leisurama
A perfect house for our family of four, it was clean and well equipped. We couldn't have asked for anything better.
Loved the Leisurama Lifestyle
We loved everything about our stay in Karen's house. She was incredibly helpful, even fielding dinner time calls when we couldn't figure out how to start the grill. The house is adorable and comfortable and it feels like you are stepping back in time. We loved learning about Leisurama houses as spent the week there. We slept in all three rooms, including the Murphy Bed (or Phantom as it was originally called) and we were all comfortable. The back yard is beautiful and it's a short walk down to Ditch Plains Beach - one of the best surfing beaches in the country. Would stay again in a second!
We had a lovely time ... Neighbors friendly ..house was clean and lots of room
Great time ,great location and property was clean and well maintained.
