Grandview Hale: Situated On Top of Property
About Cindy Morrow
These homes were designed by the owners who fell in love with the land and built the homes to represent Hawaii with minimal disturbance to the 2 acres it sits on. The owners careers are in the art, design and event businesses and these attributes are made evident in the homes offered. The colors, themes, and landscaping to the homes compliment the nature which abounds us. Black and red for lava. Green and browns for nature and deep blues represent our oceans. Genuine stone and woods are used to finish and furnish these homes. The entertainment areas are just that. The owners specifically designed each area to entertain your senses. TV's are large and lay flat against the walls. Spaces are open to enhance family communication and scenic viewing pleasure. The owners also have a love for cooking and this is evident in the design of the kitchens (especially with focus on the Grandview Hale). All kitchens are fitted with genuine granite countertops, real wood cabinets, and a true focus on making cooking a convenient experience. Adventure is what brought these owners to the Big Island and perfection is what made them settle in the town above Kona, Holualoa. The Big Island has the best of everything. Almost every climate is attainable here ranging from snow capped mountain tops to tropical rain forests and hot sandy beaches. The owners love diving, and it doesn't get better than this anywhere else in the islands of Hawaii. Hiking too, is a favorite, and these owners have explored many. They have left a suggestion book with details so that you can find children friendly beaches and trails as well as some of the more challenging ones.

This property is beautiful. It is very clean and well kept with a stunning and modern design.
Our family of six adults and four kids stayed in this gorgeous home for a week in November. There was plenty of space for everyone.
The property was very well maintained inside and out.
We spent the majority of our time in the yard enjoying the beautiful sights and sounds. It was a proud moment to take our kids on a tour of the grounds and show them where the exotic fruits grow.
We loved the infinity pool pebbled river and hot tub. The convenience of having an outdoor eating area was perfect. It was great to have an entertaining area in the lanai. It created shade during the day, protected us from rain in the evening and allowed us to have an outdoor space for the kids to wind down while still being outside.
The kitchen was very spacious with an abundance of cupboards to store our needs. The appliances were clean and easy to use. The house was well stocked from beach ettire to condiments and everything in between.
We would definitely recommend this amazing space.
No more searching!
Our family of 17 people (age 4, teenagers, parents and grandparents) spent a glorious week in this amazing place. We rented all four houses and had complete privacy - we ate all our meals together in the big house, and spent all our free time there congregating, playing games, etc. Each house is private and more than adequately stocked with everything you need- lots of towels (kitchen, bath, beach), kitchen supplies, utensils, etc., linens, etc- plus games, some snorkeling/ beach equipment, coolers, etc. The main house is magnificent and a dream come true for large families or groups who like to "hang out" together- there are several areas to eat, lounge, and watch TV (both inside and outside)- the kitchen could accommodate all of us for food meal prep and serving- there is a huge island with stools, lots of counter space, and just about every single thing you would ever need or want . There is nothing missing - and if you need or want anything, (we had to rearrange the sleeping arrangements and wanted some futons), the owners are accessible, available , gracious, and accommodating- both before and during our stay. The property is up the hill away from the beach - not a problem for us, as we had cars and liked the quiet, private, residential feel and had fun exploring the nearby towns; the property is beautifully landscaped with flowers, fruit trees- some of us chose just to stay put, read and rest, and enjoy the beautiful weather while the others did their beach thing. We would suggest arriving during the day if you can- it is quite dark at night and we had difficulty finding the actual property the first time (a call to the owners immediately set us straight!). Also, little toddlers and folks with mobility issues might find the multiple levels, steps, and terrain something to consider- we were able to navigate fine. We have experienced many, many rentals over the years and this is the one we can recommend without any reservations!
We personally designed and built our homes for entertaining and serving extended families. Although we designed them for our own needs, it appears that other families have the same. We too travel around to different locations and have stayed at a variety of homes. It has become a necessity for the Kitchen to be located right next to the BBQ and Pool. Group Fun located centrally is what it's all about for a great vacation! I am so pleased you enjoyed our home!
Tropical Paradise... the words just don't seem to justify!
Traveling from California to Kona with a very large party is hectic enough. Add the fact that "large" meant there were 25+ of us and 7 of them were keiki (youth) traveling without their parents. We definitely needed a large, safe, accommodating place, that we could cook our own meals, sleep comfortably and relax after practices and racing (we were there for an outrigger canoe race). We found this lil' piece of heaven on earth through VRBO and we can't wait to go back again! The house that is pictured is actually the 'main' house on a lot of 4 separate units. The owners, were very easy to work with, made suggestions for our large party and just very helpful and accommodating for our needs. Once locked in, we planned our week's itinerary around the race prep and race date and pre-arranged what team members would be in which unit. It was sooo convenient to be able to all be together, yet able to have your own space in one of the 4 units. The drive there - at first - was a little tricky as the lot is situated off a main road and the driveway in is not clearly marked. Had it not been for the "sign" that the owners informed us of, we would've missed it! Once in the Kilo Kompound as our team now fondly refers to it as - we knew it was going to be hard to leave - and this was just the first day! Lots of "oohs and aahs" as we walked through the main house with the owner. Spacious, open, and beautifully decorated. And oh, the kitchen! One that I would never leave, if it was my home! Top of the line appliances and fully stocked of cookware, dishes and utensils. A walk through the sliding glass doors and, well, needless to say, we spent many hours in the central attraction of the lot - the pool and hot tubs (yes, that is a plural). The whole team ate their meals gathered around the lanai or the seating areas around the pool or the on the lanai steps of the main house. On the night before our race, we had a full-on pasta club dinner at the main house and our head coach (who is from the big island), took the time to teach our keiki how to make ti leaf lei using the healthy foliage found around the lot. Those ti leaf lei proudly garnished our canoes during our races in which our keiki took home 1st place medals! We had a talent show on the last night of our stay where we were serenaded with ukulele music and singing from atop the 2nd floor lanai by our medal winners. They didn't want to go home the next day - neither did we. Can't wait to go back!
We are so proud to have a Canoe Club stay at our house and experience the feel of Real Hawaii! Our landscaping was only planted in a few months before your arrival, but now it is so much more full and lush! We can't wait for your return,...the fruit trees await you too!
Enjoy resort living on hillside slopes at a perfect elevation. Aromatic tropical breezes, spring-like temperatures, and birds singing in this sub-climate are to be sure to tickle your senses. Not too hot, not too cold, Homes Over Kona are located centrally in the historic, quaint, artsy coffee town above Kona called Holualoa. Perfect for a quiet cup of coffee and morning stroll. Only 10 min. away, you will enjoy Kona’s shoreline beaches with every water sport imaginable, downtown shopping or pier fishing, neighboring Captain Cook Town, or kayaking with the Dolphins at Kealakekua Bay. You can enjoy every direction very conveniently within a matter of minutes.
This particular island is famed for the ocean diving and snorkeling along with all the ocean activities you can imagine. White, black, or even green sand beaches can be found here. The only active volcano and endless number of glorious hiking trails await you including the famed Waipio Valley and even a quickie hike just a short drive away. During certain times of the year, you may even experience snow on the caps of Mauna Kea as you capture unforgettable sunsets and stargaze the most glorious night skies imaginable. These are the skies we share with some of the famed observatories available for tours. Only this island can offer such variety in such a compact way. Lucky you, our property is right in the middle of it all.
