Beautiful cabin with a great view

  • 5 of 5

Loved the cabin. Very open and spacious. Peaceful and quiet porch for enjoying the view. The drive to both Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg were easy. The cabin was well stocked with all the essentials. Would definitely stay there again and recommend it to all others

Great views, but some problems

  • 2 of 5

First, the home is beautiful and the views are amazing. We have a family of 6 and this was a nice sized place for us. We liked the room setup and the kids enjoyed the playroom upstairs.

The beds were comfortable and the place was mostly clean. We have stayed at other homes that were much better in the cleanliness category. Perhaps a deep cleaning would address this. And the fact that there was an envelope from the people who cleaned the house asking for tips seemed out of place given the house was not up to the standards I would expect. The house itself was generally in good condition, except for two items. The toilets on the first floor rocked back and forth. Probably because they were set on top of uneven tiles, but I prefer my toilets stationary. Also the tile floor was cracked in pretty much the entire first floor. There were some sharp edges along the cracks which could be a hazard. Fortunately we did not have issues with that.

We did have some other more serious issues. The home has a wasp problem. We used 3 cans of wasp spray. Two of our daughters got stung - one inside the house and one outside. This issue would need to be addressed before we would consider staying here again. It may be a common problem in the area. However, whether it is common there or not, more needs to be done to control or eliminate the wasps. Also, there were either dead bugs or something else in the cabinet under the kitchen sink. It was gross. I cleaned it up but that is not something I enjoy doing on my vacation. I think a call to Terminix would be helpful to address these issues.

Having a family with young kids, I appreciate that the home has strict rules about parties etc. We enjoyed the first could of days, they were quiet. That said, the "castle" next door apparently does not share the same policies prohibiting parties and renting to younger individuals. The last two nights we had to put up with large crouds, loud music (some of which was not appropriate for young kids) all night as well as a bunch of foul mouthed 21 year olds. They were celebrating someone's 21st birthday which we found out when I had to go next door to ask them to please have them move the car that was blocking our driveway. In any event, I had to explain some choice language to my kids and why the neighbors thought it was o.k. to throw beer cans and bottles in the yard around the house.

Owner's Response: Dear John I am sorry that your stay was not entirely satisfactory. In all my correspondence, I tell each guest to feel free to call me with any questions or concerns. Each of your issues could and would have been addressed with a quick phone call. Our cabin is in the woods so there will be critters. We have an active monthly pest service. Had we known of the wasp nest we would have called them to take care of it. Just as we would have had our cleaning and maintenance service come address the other minor issues.  Unfortunately the other cabin is also on a rental program and we can't control who stays there. As the two cabins are quite a distance apart, the music must have been incredibly loud to have caused a disturbance. Again, we not only welcome but encourage input from our guests, as many times they catch issues our other services might miss. But if there are problems we have to KNOW about them to address them. And I assure you that each one of these will be addressed. Thank you.

Great house in a great location

  • 5 of 5

Truly felt like we were up in the mountains in a cabin, but close enough to the city and all the action. Would rent again in a heartbeat!
