About the property

Retreat or work in this tranquil garden home, three blocks from the University.

Offering my lovely, fully furnished home: a 1400 sq. foot, 1920's townhouse-style duplex in North Berkeley. It's two stories, has two bedrooms (one with a large adjoining office), a private patio, 1.5 bathrooms, and includes a small private garage for off street parking. It's set back from the street in a lovely, quiet garden. It's in a great location in a beautiful neighborhood: three blocks to the University, two blocks to the Pacific School of Religion, and three blocks to the Gourmet Ghetto with its phenomenal eateries, gourmet shopping, boutiques, and an all organic farmers' market.

The rental is fully and beautifully furnished and includes bedding, towels and the like for your use. It features a fully equipped kitchen with service for eight and many appliances to indulge your inner gourmet (there are even culinary herbs growing outside, steps away from the kitchen), and a washer and dryer located inside the home. The private patio makes a lovely place to relax, dine, or even work with your laptop.

All utilities are included, as well as high-speed wireless internet, a land line with free domestic long distance, and cable television. Monthly housekeeping included for stays of three or more months.

There are many little touches to ensure a comfortable (and fun) stay:

- Both bedrooms feature beds with memory foam mattresses.

- Large screen plasma 3-D television with cable.

- Second TV in bedroom.

- Loads of closet space.

- Home is set back from the street, quiet.

- Off-street parking in your own compact, private garage.

- Whole house heat, with remotely controllable thermostat.

- Kitchen with gas stove and dishwasher.

- Enough dishwear, glasses, stemware, and utinsels to entertain 8+.

- Plenty of pots, pans, cooking gadgets and small appliances.

- Cuisinart food processor, espresso machine, blender, toaster, coffee maker, slow cooker, and more available for your use.

- A full bathroom with tub.

- Home is set in a lovely garden.

- Full complement of linens and towels.

- A library of hundreds of books, with plenty of extra room on the shelves for as many books as you can bring.

- Xbox360, with Kinect, all of the Rockband instruments, and a library of two dozen games.

- Crib, high chair, and play pen is available.

Regrettably, with the exception of service animals, I am not able to accommodate dogs. Other animals will be considered on a case by case basis.

Due to a City of Berkeley ordinance, with the exception of medical marijuana, smoking is not allowed inside NOR in the gardens outside the home.

I grew up here in Berkeley, and while I've lived other places nothing feels so much like home. Currently I work in web publishing. Despite having a degree I primarily think of myself as a student, as I am perpetually enrolled in one class or another. I love taking advantage of the many, many cultural and educational opportunities available in this lovely, lively college town. I love to cook and have many happy memories of dinners (some of them quite elaborate) that I've prepared here to enjoy with friends around the table. I also love literature, reading and writing it, and I've made so many nice little spots to enjoy a good book or sit and write for the afternoon.

Why Colette Zelwer chose Berkeley Hills

I grew up in this neighborhood, and nowhere feels quite so much like home, but this home would be a treat no matter where it was located! I love the peace from being back from the street, surrounded by trees and a beautiful garden. Inspired by this I've made the place lovely and restful in side too. I work from home, and since I spend so much time there it is very important to me to live in a place conducive to work AND to relaxing when I am not at work. Here I have found I am able to enjoy both!

What makes this condo unique

What makes my home unique is the sheer number of little conveniences and beautiful touches. Being a five minute walk to the University and the Gourmet Ghetto makes for a very rich experience, both intellectually and gastronomically. And when you come home as soon as you reach the garden you find yourself sighing happily as you come in the door. And having your own parking spot to come home to is priceless! Some more of my favorite conveniences are being able to do laundry without leaving the house, always having the right tool at hand when preparing meals, the private patio with its green vine covered walls and dear little Japanese maple, and of course the dynamic mix of people from all over the world attracted to this city by the University creates an amazing community.

Charming super convenient Berkeley home

We had a wonderful time staying at Colette's property in N Berkeley. It's a wonderful location - easy access to the Gourmet Ghetto and about a 15 minute walk to downtown Berkeley including Berkeley BART. The house was lovely, the complex and neighbors charming - all around a really wonderful experience. Colette was super fast and responsive about all queries.

Wonderful

The location is perfect, a couple of blocks of shops, ,restaurants etc. The apartment is very clean, has a lot of light and you have everything you need and more that you would expect. I came with my husband and we were so happy that we are coming back for a month. Colette is a wonderful person that will fulfill any of your needs. I would definitely recommend this property and would give a six star if I could.

The house was very nice and comfortable. Conveniently located. Well and generously equipped with everything needed and much more to make the stay convenient and pleasant.

The owner was helpful and responsive.

We stayed there a month. We definitely recommend it and will be happy to stay there again.

Great house in a great location

This is a 2 bedroom house in walking distance from Peets and the gourmet ghetto in Berkeley. The house is set back from the street and very quiet. It is well maintained and has all utensils needed. My daughter and I enjoyed our stay very much and greatly recommend this house for any stay in the Berkeley area.

The perfect home away from home. Everything you probably have in your own home - you will find here. Comfy beds, cable tv, full kitchen, full length bath, fast wifi, espresso machine, lock up garage with remote door, office desk and chair, perfectly quiet at night, very convenient location to walk to many restaurants and supermarkets, Walgreens etc. Everything you need, plus some!

Location perfect!

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this Berkeley address- walkable to the school where our daughter teaches and many locations in the "gourmet ghetto". Colette really anticipated many needs and we were very comfortable in the space-nice sized living room and bedrooms. On thing I particularly liked was that paper products were in good supply and we didn't have to make multiple trips to the store for products I usually forget to put on my list!

Because the property is located so close to the University I cater to longer term guests, with a 3 month minimum lease for stays between around the start of the semester and summer session. Please contact me with questions.

To hold your reservation the amount of your security deposit plus 25% of total for your stay (up to 2 months) is required.

The balance is due seven days before arrival for stays up to six weeks. For stays longer than three months: $1000 is due at signing, rent for the first month (prorated) is due at move-in, and then due on the first of the month.
