This beautiful, expansive, architect-designed cabin sits nestled between a 40-foot high granite outcropping, grove of Quaking Aspen trees, and glistening Douglass Firs, and a wildflower meadow. Walk out of the floor-to- cathedral ceiling windows onto the great deck overlooking your own private pond, and you might just seize a glimpse of local moose and deer coming down for a drink.
Now step back inside and curl up into the plush leather sofas in front of the immense stone fireplace as it crackles and warms the crisp mountain air. In this same spacious living and dining area you can sense and feel like you are in the woods because it visually surrounds you through large operable windows. In this space also lies a grand kitchen well-equipped for any culinary adventure. The gas grill and outdoor dining allow you to take the adventure, or your freshly-caught fish, outside as well.
Enjoy high speed wireless internet, or satellite TV, and a DVD player. Head down to the massive ground level great room with large windows and play a few games on the Ping Pong, Foosball, or Pool tables. Or select a board game to play. Take your pick.
Come nightfall, you’ll love one of the 5 bedrooms with log walls provided with a plush queen bed in each, large loft and the great room at the garden level with multiple double futons, wood burning stove and plenty of space to spread. There are 3 full bathrooms, one on each level.

Colorado has been our home now for over 60 years. McKay and Velma built this beautiful retreat with the design from their architect son and labor of love from their family. This family friendly cabin was to fulfill one goal, bring their large family together and preserve the love of family and dedication to each other for future generations to come. Velma's award winning landscape art adorn the cabin. Mckay's love of mountains from Star Valley Wyoming to Bear Lake Idaho instilled in him a great love for the outdoors. After meeting at BYU, they married and moved to Boulder Colorado where they raised their 7 children. Now they both want to share this cabin with other families to promote getting together and enjoying the Rocky Mountain Red Feather Lake Area.
Stella Anderson purchased this house in 2003
The beauty of the Red Feather Lakes area is our favorite place. The family grew up with the mountains as their back yard living in Boulder Colorado for over 50 years. The majestic granite out cropping, the stands of Quaking Aspen Trees interlaced with Lodge Pole Pine trees and glistening Douglas Fir with views of white capped mountain peaks and green meadows have always been the answer for a tranquil escape for our family. The property was purchased and the cabin was carefully located to experience all of these.
We love the fact that Moose, Elk, and Deer travel down the mountain stream next to the cabin and graze on the willows and grass and drink from the pond in the meadow. We love this architecturally designed home because it feels so tranquil among the woods with glass all around giving views to the woods, meadow, and mountains.
There is something truly extraordinary about this cabin. There is such a peace that resounds there. Before I arrived I had some inner conflicts and turmoil going on. But after my stay, I felt at peace and rested. It really is a sanctuary.
We had a great time. I grew up going to the Camp Ben Delatour Scout Camp in Glacier View area, so I love the granite rock formations and the beautiful landscape. We also loved the fact that we could see wild life. We have seen a bull moose. We stayed our distance. With so many bedrooms, all the adults had private bedrooms. The kitchen and great room are perfect for gathering together, talking, playing games. We played with air soft guns in the Rocky Mountain National Forest. Thank you for a memorable stay.
I loved staying at this cabin with my family. It was so comfortable and while it felt like home, it was still an escape. Kids of any age will be entertained here. The youngest children enjoyed nature walks and looking at all of the flowers. The columbines were especially beautiful. The older kids (8-14) loved playing at the creek, teasing the fish and getting their feet wet. They also enjoyed the pond and made a raft to be able to go out into the middle. We went hiking around the forest, and were able to find some really cool places. There are some pretty big boulders within walking distance and the kids also enjoyed hopping from rock to rock. We created some pretty fun memories at this cabin. For the adults, we were able to sit out on the deck and enjoy the view. The sunsets are beautiful, and it was wonderful to reconnect with nature. At night we were able to light the fire and roast marshmallows. Also the inside of the house is so spacious that we were able to play inside games, watch movies and enjoy ourselves while still being surrounded by nature. We even had a little spa and craft night with the cousins where we painted our nails and created headbands. The kitchen was very accommodating and we were able to prepare several great dinners there. The kids loved sleeping upstairs in the loft while we took the downstair bedroom. The rooms were very spacious and the beds were comfortable. We had a wonderful experience here and this cabin is a great retreat for the whole family.
I recently had a family gathering at this cabin. It is so beautiful up there! The cabin is just as described! Our family had a lot of fun there. I especially enjoyed the kitchen set up, we could cook and still be with everyone else in the family room around the fire. We used both the fire on the main level as well as the wood stove in the basement. We had a lot of fun walking around in the wooded area around the cabin the kids loved climbing on the rocks! We even saw a deer! We also really enjoyed the foosball and pool table. Everything was clean and neat. I would recommend this cabin for retreats and family vacations, there is plenty of room for lots of guests!
Our family loves going to stay at Moose Hallow Retreat.
The cabin is so accommodating for our family group with so many rooms and areas to sleep and play. We have taken our family many times there and will continue to come back. The younger kids playing downstairs and teenagers playing games upstairs in the loft, gives the adults time to talk around the main floor fireplace. A good getaway for a family reunion or a smaller group.
The cabin is beautifully tucked into the hill surrounded by aspen trees. Love the cozy feeling in winter and like to take nature walks in the summer when we are there, We felt so peaceful and enjoyed the serene views from the deck.
The drive there isn't difficult. No tricky roads or funny turns that some places have to get there.
We recommend everyone come stay here and enjoy a Moose Hallow Retreat!
