Our family has invested in real estate in San Francisco for almost two decades, and one of our favorite properties is 1856 Green, in Pacific Heights. It is a small residential apartment building, on a quiet, sunny street, just one block from great restaurants and world class shopping on Union Street. I can’t wait to be living here full time!
The panoramic views from the large living room and dining room are glorious, with snap shots of the Golden Gate Bridge and the San Francisco Bay. The high coffered ceilings, large rooms, and wide hallways provide a relaxed elegance to the environment. We have spent the last winter renovating the bathroom and the kitchen, with high end appliances and laundry; choosing Ralph Lauren linens for the bedroom; re-doing all electrical systems; selecting and hanging chandeliers; installing wifi and cable TV; and selecting furniture and artwork from our home in Nashville. Voila! After a few daunting moments, it is perfect.
My wife and I stayed in this rental for a short San Francisco holiday, and it was perfect. The location could not have been better. We were in a quiet residential block, but one street over was the best commercial strip with restaurants and bars that were fun and always felt safe. We walked to most of our destinations, but cabs were relatively cheap since we were so close to everything. The apartment was charming and very comfortable. What I liked was everything was simple and no bad surprises. The owner tried to tell me we did not need a car, and if we were not going to Napa for the day, she was right. There is a cheap group van that runs from the airport and public transportation works great. We were lucky with the weather and chose to walk most of the time. Having a car is the biggest problem, because parking in general is not easy in San Francisco. We chose to only have the car on the weekend which allowed parking on the street from Friday at 6 pm to Monday morning. Thank you for a perfect stay in your lovely apartment!
I recently stayed at this property for a girls (3) getaway. It was perfect in every way!! The neighborhood was safe, there were great restaurants and shopping one block away. This property is centrally located to all the tourists attractions along the waterfront. I'm not a mass transit gal, but I Uber'd everywhere and the fees were very reasonable ($5-10 divided between 3 people). Sherry was a pleasure to deal with throughout the process. I'm looking forward to future visits at this great apartment!
We have just stayed at this lovely, spacious apartment for a long weekend visiting our kids and exploring the city. The bedroom is at the back of the apartment, very comfortable and quiet. We did not do any real cooking but the kitchen has everything one needs. The location is ideal with restaurants, coffee shops and shopping nearby, as well as great walks in any direction. Easy walk to Fort Mason with paths/ stairs that lead to waterfront.
Relative to activities-book early for Alcatraz tours-we missed it again; took a ferry to Sausalito instead which was trendy but fun- try timing your return for the sunset run. The catamaran sail is another alternative which we loved on our last visit. There is nothing like being out on the water and enjoying the beautiful city views.
The reason for 4 stars rather than 5 stars was the noise from the second floor in the evening.
We just got home from a week in San Francisco and we couldn't be happier with this beautiful apartment! As the title suggests, the location is simply perfect! We bought a seven day Muni pass and easily traveled all over the city. Union Street, only a block away, has so many amazing restaurants!! We felt safe at all times walking all around the area, even at night. The apartment itself was quiet, clean and comfortable. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
My wife and I stayed in this apartment in April for four nights. It is very clean, very safe, and we had a quite comfortable stay. The kitchen is well-equipped if you want to cook and eat in, although there are many great restaurants in the neighborhood. The apartment is one block off of Union Street, which has many shops, bars and restaurants. And a good bus line. Parking can be an issue, so just don't bring a car and use mass transit.
Wonderful light comes in the large windows, and on a clear day, the Golden Gate bridge is visible. The apartment is really quiet. We had no issues sleeping quite comfortably. It is nicely appointed with comfortable furniture, interesting art works, beautiful wood floors. The kitchen and bath are recently remodeled. Everything you need - dishwasher, clothes washer and dryer, internet. We'll stay here again.
My two daughters and I just spent a week in this lovely apartment. Everything was as good as promised, or better. It is a beautiful, spacious, light-filled, well-equipped apartment with an incredible view of the bay and the Golden Gate Bridge. The bed is very comfortable, as is the sofabed in the living room! Everything was clean and well-maintained, and Sherry was very helpful and quick in responding to all our questions. To top it off, the neighbourhood is outstanding. Clean, quiet, yet close to some great restaurants and shopping on Union and Filmore. I would gladly come back and spend more time in this appartment, and I highly recommend it to anyone lucky enough to be able to stay here.
