Originally from the California mountains, we moved to the opposite coast after discovering Fripp Island and its beautiful beach.
Barbara A. DeBartolo purchased this house in 1995
The entire family found happiness here. Fun on the beach, boating, fishing, island activities and wonderful friends and neighbors.
Fripp is a nature paradise in between Charleston and Savannah. One could never run out of activities and places to explore. A slice of heaven on the South Carolina Coast.
We just got back from what was probably our best vacation at Fripp yet! This home lives up to everything you'd expect from the pictures and other reviews. From the moment we walked up to the front doors and looked through the house to see the ocean, we couldn't get enough of the views. Every bedroom has a view of the ocean, and you can even enjoy it from a couple of the bathrooms! The memory foam king sized bed in the master bedroom was very comfortable... certainly not what you'd usually find in a rental at the beach. The fully stocked kitchen goes well beyond others that we've experienced. It's really like you're staying in someone's house while they're out of town - not just a place with whatever was cheap or left over from home was tossed together to check off all of the boxes. We also appreciated that the house was very clean. We made a point of having an afternoon "siesta" on the screened porch every day, just to enjoy the sea birds cruising overhead, and the never ending ocean breezes. At night, the view of the stars from the deck was breathtaking. The owner, Barbara, was wonderful to work with - and amazingly responsive to one very minor issue that we had with the golf cart - using her island connections to have it resolved in less than 30 minutes. If you want to be right on the ocean, with your own steps to the beach - this is a place you should really consider.
Not directly related to the house - but a cool "Fripp Tip" for you... if you're on the island during the time that the loggerhead sea turtles are hatching, go by the nature center and find out when the turtle team will be doing a "nest inventory." After a nest hatches, they wait 3 days, and then dig up the nest site. They note how many turtles hatched, and look for stragglers. We got to see 4 babies that didn't leave the nest with their siblings make their way to the ocean! This brought out a huge crowd (by Fripp standards) and the kids especially enjoyed it.
We stayed for two weeks this year. We had a wonderful time! We are a 4 generation family and this house worked for all of us. The beach was great, the crabbing right on the beach was fantastic! You will really enjoy a stay at this house.
We had a wonderful trip to fripp this June. The house is perfect and the beach is beautiful. Don't miss a sunset at the end of the road. It's the perfect spot! The owners were extremely helpful and easy to work with. We can't wait for another week at this beach house.
This was a wonderful vacation on the beach. The home is just steps away from the beach and has wonderful views and all the amenities. Beach toys, beach chairs, skim boards, and the golf cart were great to have. The island is a nature lovers paradise. Barbara DeBartolo was wonderful to deal with and answered all questions promptly. She was very kind and helpful. We would definitely visit again!
This is our second vacation at this house and we loved it ! The views are incredible and the owners could not be kinder ! We definitely want to return to this wonderful house and this amazing beach !
We just loved our week here. Absolutely amazing to wake up with a beautiful view of the ocean and the pelicans flying by. We enjoyed walking on the practically private beach and searching the tidal pools for crabs and starfish. The best place to watch sunsets is just a short walk down the street. The kitchen was huge and all bedrooms and baths had more than enough room for our group of eight. We would definitely stay here again!
Our home is located in the heart of the South Carolina Low Country. Fripp Island is approximately 20 miles from Beaufort, S.C. Beaufort is a lovely historical coastal town located on the intercostal waterway. Beaufort has a variety restaurants, charming shops, churches of all denominations, tours available on land and water, and the most beautiful anti-bellum neighborhood located on the Old Point.
In addition to Beaufort, Fripp Island is midway between Savannah, Georgia and Charleston, South Carolina. Also, the famous Hilton Head Island is about an hours drive. Hilton Head boasts great restaurants, and world class shopping.
There is a lot to see and enjoy in this area, however, be sure to save enough days for the beautiful beach just outside your door!
