Our favorite summer spot

  • 5 of 5

This is our third year visiting Maggie's Place and its magical every year. The pond is gorgeous, the house is comfortable and wonderfully decorated, and Gunter and Maggie are outstanding hosts. Our daughters love swimming and kayaking, and making campfires. We love relaxing on the dock, cooking big meals and enjoying each other's company. Highly recommended!

A thoroughly relaxing holiday.

  • 5 of 5

This property is well appointed and stunningly beautiful. From gorgeous sunsets to peaceful canoe rides, it simply guarantees a restful vacation. We are also grateful for the thoughtful accomodations that made all the members of our family from toddlers to grandparents comfortable. Swimming, fishing and boating on beautiful Horn Pond gave everyone an activity and toasting marshmallows and telling ghost stories around the campfire was the highlight this year. The added hospitality of fresh baked goods delivered mid-week, suggestions for near-by eateries and magical eagle sightings makes Gunter and Maggie the most generous of hosts.

Gorgeous House with idyllic views

  • 5 of 5

I stayed here with my husband, sister and her husband, and my parents for a week and we could not have asked for anything more. They have it all, and they are right next door to cater to you if you need anything. Friendly and gracious hosts, and the house is beautiful, well kept, clean and has just about everything. You want a kayak? They have 3. You need a canoe, you got it. You forgot a chair or a float? They have camp chairs, Adirondack chairs and two tubes for the water. There are games and puzzles, a blu- ray player, and a washer/dryer in the basement. This really is a beautiful house and the garden was a dream. Gunter and Maggie are great! They brought over a rum cake and gave us a personal tour. This place really is five stars. Thanks for an amazing stay, hope to see you next year! Hansen/Jewell/Paone Family :)

The perfect lake vacation retreat! Exactly what we were looking for.

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Maggie’s Place and it was a wonderful experience for our entire family. The house was absolutely beautiful with an ideal layout that provided ample room for everyone. The setting is perfect with easy access to the lake, private dock and swim area. The lake is clean, clear and great for swimming and fishing. There is a gated, limited access boat ramp next door where we were able to launch our fishing boat.

Maggie and Gunter were the perfect hosts. They greeted us on arrival and showed us around the house and property. They were readily available if needed.

We are looking forward to a return stay next year.

Lake front on Hornpond
Car: necessary

Horn Pond was voted the most scenic lake in York county. We are an hour away from Portland Me, where you can shop, whale watch, take a ferry ride to the islands and visit the many fine restaurants and great pubs Portland is known for.

Kennebunkport, a typical New England port town, is about 45 minutes away. Have a lobster dinner and drive by George W. Bush's compound.

Portsmouth NH is about 45 minutes away. You can visit historic Strawberry Hill or take a day trip to the Shoals Islands. Also a great place to dine and peruse shops.

The charming town of Wolfeboro NH, situated on Lake Winnipesaukee, is about 30 minutes away. It claims to be the oldest resort in the USA. A fun place to browse, shop and eat.

And always come back to Maggie's place, to rest on the dock with a glass of wine or beer and watch the beautiful sunsets - and at night listen to the call of the loons which have been on this lake the last 30 years.
