About Jenny & Ray Monteiro

Ray & Jenny met, married and raised their family in the Bay Area. Then relocated to El Dorado County in 2004 to enjoy the rural lifestyle there and to be closer to their home in South Lake Tahoe!

Jenny & Ray Monteiro purchased this house in 1997

Why Jenny & Ray Monteiro chose Tallac Village

We fell in love in South Lake Tahoe and had vacationed here for many years before deciding to purchase this home. We have added improvements each year by upgrading or changing the decor.

The carpet is very new and cleaned regularly. The flat screen TV is now mounted on the wall, with an extensive library of videos for you to view. We now have a new, very comfortable sectional couch and have installed new vinyl windows this year, which look great!

(The photos do not yet reflect the new changes.)

What makes this house unique

You will love the character of this house! It was one of the first homes built on Tahoe Island Drive and has since had several additions to the original cabin, which we were told that a Navy Admiral had built. First the dining room, kitchen & bedrooms upstairs, then adding the other rooms, along with the garage. It has some Tahoe history, for sure! You get a warm family sense in this home.

The large round dining table is one of our favorites for playing games, while others can enjoy watching a movie. It's easy for everyone to have fun and the game closet is stocked with all sorts of games. We have tried to think of everything for you to just come and relax.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Wow, what an amazing trip my family had! We made so many memories here that will not be forgotten. We didn't even go anywhere because the kids had so much fun playing and building snowmen in the meadow behind the house. (We even made our own sled runs.) The kids didn't want to leave.

My husband deploys in a few weeks and we wanted a nice quiet family trip. We will always be so thankful for what you did for us. We will be back and we have people already looking at pictures and wanting your house info.

The Lord was good to us when he lead us to you! God bless you both.

With thanks, The B. Family

Relaxing blessing in a gorgeous location

  • 5 of 5

Our family has vacationed at Beth Selah so we knew what to expect! The house is just as the description and photos suggest so there are no negative surprises. The kitchen is well-supplied for making meals. The location is the best! We could easily bike to Pope Beach, walk to Smart and Final or the delicious My Thai Restaurant, and could see the beautiful forested lot from the living room windows and porches. Despite being very easy to reach with almost no Tahoe Blvd driving, it’s not as if it’s in a busy residential area. A fabulous place to rest, visit with family and make memories.

Clean Home for All Age Groups

  • 5 of 5

This property is clean with nice amenities. It is located close to Camp Richardson with its many activities. It has a large round table which seats 8 and is great for a family/friends to eat together or to sit and play games. Many games for different ages are provided. The upstairs has two nicely furnished bedrooms plus a bath, the main level has a bedroom off of the dining area. It is a great place for all ages.

It was wonderful!

The only thing we had trouble with was that we couldn't find the air conditioner.... That was listed in the amenities.... Was it hidden?

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review! We really appreciate your kind words. I think you may have mixed up the amenities of our house with that of another house. I checked to be sure of what we had listed about air conditioning and copied it for you. "There is no air conditioning. Most homes in Lake Tahoe do not have air conditioning because it rarely gets hot enough. There are ceiling fans in the bedrooms and a portable fan in the guest bedroom." I do hope you were comfortable, it most always cools off at night and with our new windows, its so easy to quickly cool the house down the one or two days a year that it gets that warm. Sincerely, Jenny & Ray

Comfortable. Could use some updating. Coffee pot would not work, nor would the wifi.

Owner's Response: Dear Arlene, I'm sorry you couldn't get the coffee brew system to work, it is very new and this is the first we have heard of it not working. I wish you had called us about the wifi. We have had guests unplug it upstairs and we could have helped you with that. We appreciate you letting us know and we will take care of these things immediately. Thank you for your valuable feedback. It helps us to be current. Sincerely, Jenny Monteiro

Excellent Stay

  • 5 of 5

Great location. Proximity to Heavenly and Sierra at Tahoe. Owners are super responsive and the place has everything you need. We were there right after a major snow storm. Driveway was cleared, roads were ploughed (not always the case with other rentals) so it was easy to get settled (since we arrived only at 11pm with kids). I will definitely stay here again. Only suggestion would be to include a small heater in the bathrooms as they were a little cold but that's minor.

Owner's Response: Thank you for such a great review and very good suggestion about the small heater for bathroom. There is a heater/fan combo in the baths, but I'm sure with all that snow you may have needed more! So glad to have you as our guest. Jenny & Ray

Very pleased, great house / location.

  • 5 of 5

I stayed there with my family of 4 over the winter break and found it more than enough for us. We had one bedroom that went completely unused and truly enjoyed the well-stocked kitchen that had everything we needed. The place is clean and well maintained and the VRBO description is accurate. The owners are genuinely interested in a positive experience and kept in contact with us to make sure that happened. I would, and have recommended this place to friends and family.
