Overview

About the property

4 bdrm, 1 bath. Sleeps 6. Outdoor shower, huge yard, centrally located!

Come and visit my sweet and comfortable home for an authentic 'Vineyarder' experience.

This property is about a 5 minute walk from the main street of Vineyard Haven, about 7 min walk from the ferry, the supermarket, AND A NICE, QUIET BEACH, and 1 min to the bus stop (flag down bus at the end of the road), making it easy to avoid bringing a car on-island and saving the hassle of making a ferry ticket reservation.

This quiet neighborhood used to be a farm and part of this house was the farmhouse. Today, ancient grapevines nestle around the outdoor shower. There is a large private back yard and a shed for storing bikes etc. The stylish landscaping accents the secluded deck which has a shaded table with chairs and grill!!

This house offers wood floors, lots of bedroom space, a useful kitchen, excellent entertainment system, lots of closet and clothing storage space, a bathtub and shower, art works from my travels around the world, and from the national parks I have visited. Conveniently located close to town/amenities and centrally to any point on island, this cute house is a great option for your island vacation.

I rent June-September and prefer Sat-Sat stays. Cleaning fee included.

About Troy Silva

Born and raised on island I have traveled all over the world. Currently I live here year round and I really enjoy my job of land surveying and on my off time I equally enjoy walking my favorite trails and beaches here and when its windy you will find me kite boarding.

The house was built from a farmhouse moved to the property by my fathers parents who came from the Azore islands of Portugal back in the early 1900's . My father was actually delivered in one of the rooms upstairs. I really enjoy living here because of the sentimentality and it fits my life very well.

I hope you enjoy my home (and traveling!) as much as I do! Support Local!

Because I live on The Island year-round I am always just a phone call away and available to help in any way I can any time.

Why Troy Silva chose Martha's Vineyard

I really enjoy living in this house because of the obvious sentimental value. Furthermore the rustic, cozy, comfortable environment has really become my favorite feature. However I've also found over the years that the location is just so convenient. Growing up on island one might consider living in VH, OB or downtown EDG like living near or in a city, or more urban environment. This has obviously become very amusing after having seen so much of the rest of the world. I truly do love my house and the island its on.

What makes this house unique

The front yard and the big backyard are enclosed by dense privet hedges and shrubs. This house is so close to town, but still offers privacy!

Just what this family needed!

  • 5 of 5

This was our first time at Martha's Vineyard and Mr. Silva was a wonderful host. His house is comfortable and clean and in walking distance to Vineyard Haven shops and restaurants and bus stops. We didn't touch our rental car between ferry rides! The outside shower was "dreamy" and every morning we enjoyed our coffee on a deck surrounded by flowers and butterflies. Thank your Troy - we had a marvelous time. (your collection of books is eclectic - we loved looking through them!)

thanks again,

Trish, Pat, Jacob and Sam

Charming Vacation House!

  • 5 of 5

This home is perfect for a stay on the island! This house is a gem: it is well maintained, close to town and central to beaches in Oak Bluffs, Edgartown and up-island. We were hoping for a restful vacation and this house is so easy to relax in and interesting-there are unique and beautiful displays of the owner's travels throughout. We were delighted with the simplicity of the house along with the charm and ability to enjoy an easy, breezy vacation.

We enjoyed breakfasts and bar-b-ques on the deck. We have rented for over 30 years and found this home to be delightful-it reflects the warmth and care the owners have for their guests.

We will definitely keep this home in mind for a return visit.

Goldilocks - Just Right

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I had a wonderful, albeit brief, July 4th weekend stay at this house during our first-ever visit to the Vineyard. It was perfect--just the right balance of charm, location, value, privacy and comfort, all while not being too precious. The owners are thoughtful and super easy to deal with! Our dog gave them and the house 5 enthusiastic paws too. While you can certainly get by without a car given the central location, I'd recommend renting one anyway. There is so much to see and experience on this island, and it's big!

Will return with the kids!

Convenient and quiet

  • 4 of 5

We have vacationed on the Vineyard 4 times in the last 10 years and just love the island. This home is a quintessential Vineyard home filled with many cool artifacts from around the world, interesting books and board games too. It has all you need to just chill and relax along with wireless internet and a full range of cable too. The owners are awesome and available if need be. I believe they are native Vineyarders and they are happy to share any info about the island and their home and can guide you to a wonderful vacation. When we opened the door, we were greeted with a nice bottle of wine, a note wishing us a great vacation and contact info. The house is convenient to the town but quiet and just steps from public transportation which goes all over the island, you do not need a car. We also brought along our dog who also loved it too, especially the yard which is well maintained. The photos of the property are accurate and it is much prettier in person. Yes, I would stay again and recommend to friends.
