About Clare

Colorado is in my blood and I've always wanted my own home in the mountains. Now I finally have it. I cannot live in it now, so I want to share it. I love this Cabin, Rustic, with all the comforts you could ever want.

Clare purchased this cabin in 2013

Why Clare chose Drake

This is the most amazing, private home and is on 2 National Forests. Rocky Mountain National Forest meets our property on the back side and Roosevelt National Forest is in the front where the Big Thompson River runs through the canyon and is only footsteps away. It is in one of the most beautiful areas near Estes Park. Our amazing full sized heated pool is very unusual for the mountains and almost unheard of. Come and let us show you.

What makes this cabin unique

Where can you go find a 4 huge bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, including an amazing cedar shower with 3 shower heads, fireplace, pool table, 7 man hot tub, mountain side deck and heat sauna, on the river with mountain views. Where can you find all this for under 200 a night. Right here at Big Thompson Pool Cabin! We provide everything, you just bring your clothes and food. We even have fishing poles. Our heated pool opens April 15th. Come and see us location on 2 national forest lands including RMNP in the back of our property and Roosevelt National Park in the front.

Our cabin is private. There are no neighbors in site. Our Sonos Stereo System both inside and out provides an amazing atmosphere of peace, tranquility - as does the mountain side heat/steam sauna. Do as you wish, turn the music up by the pool, bother no - one. Swim all night if you wish. There's no place like it in all of Estes.

There's nothing like Barbecuing, watching the kids swim, listening to a good song on the stereo and looking up at the majestic mountains.

Catch and keep fishing, Plenty of great Mountain and river views. Mountain Goats, Elk, and Black Bears can be seen occasionally in woods around the house.

Just relax in the wonderful bedrooms, with Flat Screen TVs/with cable in every room bedroom. It is amazing!!

We realize that this is a cabin out in the wilderness near Rocky Mountain National Forest. We make sure we have everything we can think of to provide you with all those small things that you can't buy on every trip. The new crockpot is great for cooking a roast while your out hiking or laying by the pool. You will never wake up in the morning without a good cup of coffee to enjoy while you look out at the nature and mountains. NOTE: with 8 person or more, water becomes an issue. Laundry is the biggest culprit. We do have a extra water tank for summers.

Great Get-A-Way!!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay! So happy we found your place while looking through the many places to stay in Colorado. 10 of us had plenty of room to relax and enjoy each others company. The pool, hot tub and sauna were great in the month of October. We had all of the amenities of home. The road closure was not a problem at all. It was actually a bonus not having the usual traffic going to and from Estes Park. We are already looking forward to getting back to The Big Thompson Pool Cabin as soon as possible. We had a wonderful time playing horseshoes and shooting pool. We just felt so at home. Clare and Armando, you were both so helpful in getting us there and making our stay great. We look forward to seeing you both in the future.

Thanks Again!!!!!

This place is awesome!!! So, many amenities and a great location!

  • 5 of 5

Just spent 5 days at the Big Thompson Cabin. Oct. 10th- 15th, 2017. 3 adults and 3 young adults ages 18-20. We had a wonderful time!! We enjoyed the sauna, jacuzzi, pool table, fire pit and the guitar with binder with chords and chord music was just a bonus. The Sonos app. was a hit. The younger adults could jam downstairs while playing pool while us older folks could watch a movie upstairs. We loved the app because you can play music in all rooms at the same time or just one or two and even outside when you like. The kitchen is stocked very well with every amenity you can think of. Tons of towels and extra blankets as well. I was surprised that two of us whom had Iphones were actually able to facetime with friends and family and even text and receive texts most of the time. The first morning we were there we enjoyed watching the Bighorn sheep just up the mountain side behind the cabin while having our morning coffee. We also, saw them running down the street out front on another day which was pretty cool!! We hiked the mountain behind the cabin while we were there. My son made it all the way to the top while the rest of us only maybe 1/2 of the way. Definitely, a work out!! We were very concerned about the road closure on 34 between Estes and Loveland prior to leaving. However, it ended up not being a big deal with a little planning in advance. We made sure that we booked our flight early enough to arrive at Denver International Airport, get our rental car, get our groceries so we could make it into Loveland before road closed at 7 pm. We thought we would have to book 48 hours in advance to get a pilot car to take us from cabin into Estes Park on 43 when 34 was closed but that was not the case at all. We could go into Estes and Rocky Mountain National park anytime we pleased. Clare's cabin is just up the road about a 1/4 mile, pass 43(Estes park entrance). So, we just jumped in the car and drove down to the entrance and the workers would let us through. We never waited more than 3 minutes. I was very glad, however, that we rented a car with a GPS navigation system because there is no cell service in the canyon. The GPS allowed us to find places in Estes and Rocky Mountain National Park with ease which we could not do with our cell phones with no service. So, definitely, keep that in mind especially if you are not familiar with the area. The only thing I regret is that we didn't stay longer!!!

An idyllic cabin located in the heart of Colorado's wild landscape

  • 5 of 5

The Big Thompson Pool Cabin is not only a location to visit, but an experience. I was lucky enough to visit here with family during the early autumn. The natural landscape is certainly a major attraction, with its robust mountain sides and full foliage. The amenities of this cabin enhances one's experience of this surrounding wilderness, such as the outdoor pool, spa, and sauna room overlooking the Big Thompson River. One can even fall asleep listening to the constant, soothing rushing of this river flowing a few yards away.

Televisions, Wifi, and a wireless stereo system are provided for one's enjoyment, along with such timeless delights as a billiard table, a guitar, and an eclectic collection of books. Bathing in the stone shower in the lower level is an experience that matches that of any professional spa resort.

This is a true retreat for travelers desiring an unforgettable experience in the midst of northern Colorado's natural landscape.

Can't wait to come back

  • 5 of 5

I just LOVE this cabin. What a relaxing and beautiful pace to get away to. This was a much needed vacation and I feel completely rejuvenated. Being able to enjoy a heated pool and hot tub in the middle of all this natural beauty is a priceless experience. I really did love this house and all its amenities. It was very clean and had everything I needed including kitchen items for cooking. Plus, there were these awesome mountain goats that came by. So cool! Everything was beautiful, the views are majestic. I can hardly believe this places even exists out here and I can't wait to come back!!!

Picturesque views with endless luxury amenities!

  • 5 of 5

We arrived to the perfect picture of fall. Driving up the,all the leaves are changing, the river was rushing and the large cabin was just nestled perfectly in the canyon. It couldn't have been more beautiful. I came here for an Autumn visit and couldn't have been more pleased.Owners provided, PLENTY of wood for cozy cracking fires. They have a heated pool that we swam in under the stars,a massive hot tub and beautiful wood sauna that is built directly into the canyon side with panoramic views. They provide delicious coffee , and I love taking a steaming cup outside in the morning while watching the rushing river. Great way to start the day. There is so much to do in the area, but I honestly never wanted to leave. This is not a place to just sleep at night, this is an all out experience. Every normal activity turns into something special. Taking a shower in their massive walk in shower built around the actual canyon stones is WILD. It's like a subterranean luxury spa from another planet. The entire house, even the patio is connected with a booming Sonos system which is great when swimming or soaking outside. The beds are even more comfortable than home! We were even able to listen to records in our room. Pool table downstairs, and horse shoes in the picnic area outside too! Such a gem, will definitely be back.

We are 10 miles from Estes Park in the Big Thompson Canyon. We have the river and the Canyon in front of us running through the Roosevelt National Forest; which our cabin is on. If you hike up the back of the property, you will hike onto the portion of our land where it meets The Rocky Mountain National Forest land. This is one of the most beautiful spots in Estes. I was concerned about the traffic at first. Now I just don't hear it unless I go out to sit and watch it and think how I used to sit and wish I had a cabin like that. It just feels so private that you feel very safe.
