This is a very old trailer on the side of the highway. It does have an updated kitchen and it is clean. However the smell is unpleasant. We all thought it smelled like bug spray but the owner denies using bug spray. I did sweep several dead bugs up off the floor. There was a plastic container with a lid in the kitchen which I assumed was a place to store food items to keep bugs out. At least that’s how we used it. Even though we were disappointed we decided to give it a try for the first night of our week long stay. It was my wife, my father and my 14 year old daughter. Also My 12 year old son for part of the time when he wasn’t at baseball camp. The listing said sleeps 5 but there was only two double beds. So I ended up on an air mattress on the floor. We used the back patio the first evening and we had to do some cleaning up of dirt, debris and bird poop. Later We tried to watch TV but that didn’t work. We also noticed several bugs on the couch and on our bodies after sitting there. The next morning my wife tried to drink a cup of coffee on the couch and screamed when she realized a giant bug was crawling up the side of her mug. I also ended up with a terrible spider bite on the back of my leg. The bathroom is clean but very old. After 3 people showered there was a small amount of standing water in the tub and a dank smell. We finally decided that we could not stay in the property for the week and we moved to the Comfort Inn. We needed a place to relax after spending hot days on the ball field and this place was very uncomfortable for us. I’m very surprised this listing has 3 positive reviews and suspect that they were written for different properties owned by the same people. However, everyone has different standards and maybe some people would be comfortable here. Just be clear about what you are renting because we certainly were not. We also received no refund and a hostile email from the owners after we shared our dissatisfaction with them. But hey, they have our money and we have bug bites.
Our stay in the big yellow house was great. Walking distance to a brewery and close to Cooperstown and the Dreams Park! The staff was very helpful!
Victorian family experience, unforgettable
Awesome experience, House became home for the time we were there, met families from other states,my oldest son and family flew in from Colorado, my grandson played ball with a team from Denver, my middle son , husband and myself, flew in from central area California,my middle son and I had been to Cooperstown when he was 12 in 1996, Rick and his wife were just so accommodating, we loved the Victorian house, everything turned out well for my family, had so much fun, memories will be unforgettable. I recommend this house 110%.
Close to Dreamspark - convenient location - peaceful
We were very pleased to be so close to Dreamspark. Our son was staying with his team (6/8-6/15), and it was nice knowing we weren’t too far away. This location had a new kitchen with everything you needed. We opened the windows and enjoyed the peaceful and quietness of the surrounding area. The WiFi was high speed which was a plus due to we homeschool and had to finish a few lessons. The beds and couch were comfortable and a nice place to come “home” to relax for the evening after a day at the ball fields. Close to Cooperstown and Hall of Fame. Laundry is offered in the Big yellow house in the basement. I would recommend doing it during the daylight hours. The owners were absolutely wonderful and always available if we needed anything. Would definitely stay again if in the area. - The Hebert Family
