My family spent every summer in this gorgeous beach house in Cape Ann, MA. It was a 3-month respite for us coming up from the hustle and bustle of New York City. A place to relax, hone our swimming skills, enjoy fresh lobsters and seafood and entertain friends and relatives. The perfect summer house where we snorkeled, pulled lobster traps, learned to sail, water skied and made lasting family memories.
Annette Means purchased this cottage in 1969
Recently, we decided to renovate the house and try to make it as beautiful as its million dollar view. It is the perfect entertainment house with a glorious granite patio on a spectacular promontory that always seems to catch a wonderful sea breeze, even on the hottest summer days. It has private access to the beach, so children never have to cross a road or worry about cars. It is only 40-minutes north of Boston and Logan Airport.
Outstanding views of the Atlantic Ocean, private beach, private access to one of the most, beautiful, white sandy beaches in Massachusetts.
Cozy home, beautiful views and easy access to a great beach. The listing description accurate regarding the location, layout & amenities. The property was clean and well-maintained. The owner was responsive to my inquiries. I recommend this property for friends or relatives.
This home is right next to Good Harbor Beach. The waves come crashing in and the sound is heaven. You almost feel like you are on a boat when you sit on the porch and see the water all around you at high tide. There is a view from the house to Salt Island and the waves at low tide coming around the island make a cool, unusual pattern.
Unfortunately, we spent two out of 3 days in clouds and rain. The 3rd day, however, the sun shone and that's when you can most appreciate this setting. When you are sitting at the table on the stone patio, overlooking the water, you feel like you are on the Almafi Coast.
The one thing we did notice was that the ceilings were a bit low - anyone over 6'5" might have a problem. My husband is 6'2" and he had no issue in any room of the house.
Location was perfect. The parking was a challenge and the kitchen area was tight. The property was great for our family and was a weekend we will all look back on with wonderful memories.
My family of 8 (6 adults and 2 children) stayed for a week. The house was large and very comfortable for us all. Great views of the ocean. Only gave 4 stars due to the fact that there is no laundry facilities on site, we had to bring our laundry into town to be cleaned by a service. Cause we were not about to spend 3 hours at a laundromat on our vacation. Kitchen is small and does not have an oven. Walk down to the beach is steep hard for the elderly and not for handicap. We went on an amazing whale watch out of cape ann it was incredible worth every penny. My husband and I also found a little gem in Rockport called Halibut State Park defiantly check it out. It's a 15 minute drive has the most incredible sunsets! Great hiking/walking trails. The best meal we had was at the Lobsta Land delicious! We had a great week we would defiantly go back.
Absolutely spectacular location, comfortable amenities with only the sound of the ocean to bother you. We loved our stay here and that was with 5 kids and 8 adults.
Rain didn't prevent the scenery from being gorgeous for my wedding during Summer Solstice.
My family stayed there from June 19th-23rd, 2015. We held our ceremony on the private beach, and our party was in the house and backyard. Even though I was concerned about the space, it was just the right amount for our less than 100 people party.
The house is gorgeous, very well kept, and extremely charming. The ceilings are a bit low, but it only adds to the charm. Something to be aware of, however, is that there is no oven. But the kitchen is still fantastic.
My family is hoping to stay there again in the future, perhaps for longer than a weekend!
Gloucester is a working fishing port. Along the harbor are whale watches, tuna and swordfishing charters. Gloucester also has the oldest art colony, Rocky Neck, filled with galleries and restaurants.
