Guestbook comments from the manager

The Getaway was everything we needed! Perfect place to relax, enjoy the mountain views and "Getaway". The house is fully furnished and all we needed to bring was our food, drink and personal items. Everything is very well maintained and is in town, so you are close to everything in Banner Elk. The house is on a very quiet street and the paved driveway was a bonus. We even walked into downtown, via the Greenway Trail. Had a great time and will be back very soon.

Just what we needed

  • 5 of 5

Nice little mountain cabin. Close to town. At the base of Dogwood Road there is a paved path into town, It was great since it was the wholly worm festival ...traffic was a little insane...walking was the best way to see it all. Beautiful area!

Just what we needed.

  • 5 of 5

We spent three nights here for Thanksgiving 2016. The cabin was just as described and was perfect for our family of five. I was concerned about the driveway, but it actually wasn't as bad as I'd pictured in my head. It's long and steep, but not as steep as I expected. We have a Toyota Avalon and could turn around at the top fairly easily, but a big SUV would definitely find it challenging to turn around. We used the gas fireplace all weekend and kept most of the electric floor heaters off. The king bed and bedding were super comfortable and my daughter (5) loved the top bunk of the bunk beds. The kitchen was very well-equipped. We had picked up Cracker Barrel on the way and had to heat up a lot of things and I found all the dishes and pots and pans I needed. People seem to have left behind spices, sugar, flour, Pam, olive oil, etc. in the kitchen, so that was helpful to have. There were even a handful of Keurig coffees on the counter. The deck was very nice, but too cold for us to really use. The living room was cozy and comfy (though it could use a couple more lamps). It was kind of dark at night. We weren't really familiar with the area and were just looking to get away from Knoxville for a few days, but found this to be a perfect location to explore the Blue Ridge Parkway, Boone and Blowing Rock. It was close to town, but felt far away. The drives around the area were spectacular. We ended up hauling a Christmas tree home after seeing so many farms in the area and knowing we'd pay twice as much at Home Depot for a Fraser fir. This was a great little getaway, priced fairly, and very clean. I'd highly recommend it. Thanks for having us.

Perfect Girls Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time at your cabin! It was a perfect size for the 5 of us and we were so happy with everything! The kitchen had all of the basics we needed such as salt/pepper and coffee filters. And a Keurig! (Make sure to update the description with that little gem!) We were warm and toasty on the sofa by the fire and the heat worked very well throughout the cabin. The showers were strong and towels were thick, all things that 5 friends love to have. We are definitely going to keep this cabin on our list for the future!

Charming little cabin, perfect for a long weekend "Getaway"

  • 5 of 5

We have been staying in the Banner Elk/Beech Mountain/Boone are for twelve years and have stayed at many different houses over that time. The Getaway was just what all of the reviews said. It was quaint and charming. It was absolutely immaculate, which we greatly appreciated. It was well equipped in the kitchen with everything that we needed and a washer dryer in the hallway. The deck was wonderful in the afternoon and we enjoyed the fire pit at night. The only drawback was the driveway and parking. It was very difficult to get up the driveway and turn around. The second couple usually backed up the very steep driveway and parked because there was no room to turn around once at the top of the drive. We did not find a shortcut if there was one to walk to town. However, we felt very comfortable and almost at home in the very cozy cabin. We loved the convenience of being so close to town, restaurants and the Woolly Worm Festival. We would definitely stay here again.

Nice place to stay. Cozy and comfortable.

  • 4 of 5

This house had everything we needed for a stay. My daughter loved the bunk bed and wifi. We all enjoyed the deck and having a kitchen with so many convenient supplies. Loved the location so close to town, but felt private. Washer and dryer came in handy too. Only downside was the gas fireplace. I tried to follow the directions to light it, but gave up. Didn't need it anyway though, it was warm enough. Backing down the driveway was scary at first, but I was a pro by the end of the weekend.overall, we all agree that we would like to visit again. My daughter says to add "it was amazing "!
