The well-appointed kitchen includes all the tools and amenities to meet your cooking needs. Early risers will enjoy rocking on the front porch and watching the sun rise over St. Joseph's Bay. Wifi and free-long distance calls are included.

Lion's Paw is adjacent to St. Joseph's State Park, a mecca for scalloping, fishing, shelling, sunning, and boating. Named Dr. Beach's #1 Beach in 2004, the beach at Sunset Pointe consists of sugar white sands, large dunes, world-class shells, breathtaking sunsets, and daily dolphin sightings. Just a short 5 minute walk across a beautiful wooden boardwalk where you chance to spot an owl, deer, eagle, or maybe even a bobcat, brings you to the beach. Don't forget to grab the four beach chairs for the ultimate in relaxation for your day at the beach.

Sunset Pointe at Secluded Dunes is where you can truly get away from it all. Enclosed in a private gated community on a spectacular natural Florida wetland, your family will make many memories here. After a day in the sun with your toes in the sand, stop by the gated private pool to cool off.

On the Cape, there are two grocery and sundry stores to provide you with all your needs for your stay in Lion's Paw. If you are hankering for top-notch, world-famous seafood, just a quick jaunt into Port St. Joe or Apalachicola will satisfy your cravings. Indian Pass Raw Bar, commonly featured in Southern Living and Garden & Gun offers a unique local experience that you'll never forget.

If you tire of lying in the sun, Port St. Joe provides boat rentals, deep-sea fishing trips, scalloping adventures, and more. Apalachicola boasts many charming shops and incredible restaurants, making for a fun afternoon trip.

About Cindy Trubee

Mike & Elaine, high-school sweethearts who have been married for 37 years, are beach lovers. Elaine enjoys shelling the shores of the Cape and Mike's favorite activity is long walks to the tip of the Cape. Their 2 grown children, Michelle & Mark, love visiting Cape San Blas with their spouses. We all love relaxing and enjoying each others company at beautiful Sunset Pointe.

Cindy Trubee purchased this house in 2007

Why Cindy Trubee chose Florida Main North West

We chose Lion's Paw because of it's secluded and breathtaking location. The 'Real Florida' wetlands that the home is located on and the short walk to the pristine beaches offer a all-encompassing idea of what Florida truly is.

What makes this house unique

Named Lion's Paw after the famous children's novel by Robb White, Elaine has worked hard to instill a bit of the classic tale in the home. Children and adults alike will love the 'ship bunk room' on the second floor. Hanging beds and a rounded ceiling will transport you inside the pages of 'The Lion's Paw.' While you are enjoying the beach, bring along our provided copy of the novel and you'll fall in love with the story, too. Perhaps you will even discover a Lion's Paw shell or two hidden around the home.

Great home for families, close to state park.

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful large home to accommodate 3 families. Very nicely decorated and furnished, unlike many beach rentals. The house had pretty much everything you needed. Appreciate very much the wifi as without it would have been out of commission the entire trip. The kids twin bed room was a hit. Good location for us by the state park for easy boat launching. Not a bad walk to the pool or beach. Great neighborhood, the kids rode their bikes around the loop the house is on. Very quiet and safe. We only had one issue and that was the AC upstairs had some trouble. Once we called someone quickly came out and fixed it. No further issues. Loved the covered carport and porches for when it rained we could still hang out outside. Will stay again!

Lion's Paw June 2017

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful time staying at the Lion's Paw. The home is gorgeous and well taken care of in every aspect. The pictures do not do the area justice as once you arrive it is like a tropical paradise. Everything that you need is there for you. The rooms were all well appointed and the property clean and tidy. The fixtures in the home are all high end and its just beautiful. Very private and secluded area with easy access in and out to the main road. The Sunset Pointe area which the home is located in is small and private and the private pool is well situated from the home. Due to the small size of the neighborhood the pool is very nice and not crowded at all. Beach access via a overland walkway is close to the home as well which leads you to a secure gate before the beach to prevent others from accessing the neighborhood. The beaches are wonderful with magnificent white powdery sand that feels like flour. The shells were abundant too! If your looking to get away from it all and reconnect with your family this is a great place to do that! From the home at night you can sit back on one of the decks of the home and enjoy the sounds of the ocean in the distance and the frogs from the wetlands.

Again we enjoyed our stay immensely here at the Lion's Paw and make sure that you take the time out to read the book for which they named the home after. It is a easy read and we made everyone read it including my 14 year old.

Owner's Response: You have highlighted the secrets of Lions Paw beautifully! This home is nothing short of perfect and the owner has put together everything so well, that it really feels like your home away from home with high end finishes and amenities that make you feel pampered from the moment you walk in the door! We hope you come back soon! Cindy Trubee Knot Forgotten Vacation Rentals

The REAL Florida!

  • 5 of 5

We've stayed in several different locations on the Cape, and so far Lion's Paw is our favorite! It very comfortably accommodated our family of 8. My 7 -yr old nieces loved the cool boardwalk to the pool and beach, where we could hear lots of little critters scurrying out of our path. It made the 5 minute walk very enjoyable! We pretty much had the beach to ourselves, even on a holiday weekend! The house itself is lovely. The only thing I can think of that it could use is another set of dishes and flatware, but really it was no big deal, and the glassware was very adequate-- although champagne flutes would be a nice addition! Although you can't see the beach from the screened in back porch, it does overlook the forested wetland, and it was beautiful to watch the sunset there. It was also a great place for our dog to hang out and dry off after a day of jumping in the surf! We enjoyed Lion's Paw so much, that we just booked it again in July!
