This property is gorgeous, private, and has everything you need in a vacation home.
We had a wonderful time staying here for our first visit to Kiawah Island. Myself, husband, and 2 children (ages 13 and 8), stayed in this vacation rental for a week. We had a wonderful time! The house is beautiful and had more than enough room for our family. There were actually 2 bedrooms that went unused. The kitchen is very spacious and has all the basic essentials. We loved sitting out on the screen porch in the mornings with our coffee. It is very convenient to the beach- especially if you rent bikes. It was a bit of a walk (still not bad though), but much more convenient on the bikes. The rental company was great to work with! This was a wonderful vacation for our family and we would definitely stay here again on a return trip to Kiawah!! You won't be disappointed with this rental choice!

Thank you Jennifer! We're so glad you enjoyed yourselves on Kiawah. This is a beautiful home - I agree! Thank you for taking the time to let us know. We look forward to having you visit again soon. Take care, Nancy
Wonderful lagoon-side home
The house is a wonderful, large and comfortable home to stay on Kiawah Island. Behind the "second gate" you have access to the Ocean Course, the Marsh and near-empty beaches. The house and neighborhood is really quiet and peaceful. You have no beach view and can't hear the ocean at this house. You have a lovely lagoon view and we often got a nice breeze in the evening.
The kitchen is pretty well supplied - tons of glassware, a decent amount of condiments and helpful appliances like a blender, toaster, electrical grill and coffee maker. Lots of paper supplies which is also nice. One issue I had with the kitchen is that, despite sleeping 8, there are really limited pans, pots and dishes that would allow you to serve a large group. We only had 4 people and the small pan sizes were a bit limiting. The knives were ok - could be sharper, but better than most rental homes. Having the outdoor grill is really awesome and we used it several times. The house was very clean, very comfortable beds and lots of space to spread out. TONS of bath towels and a great washer/dryer which is always helpful. Note - the washer/dryer is in the master bedroom.
The screened in porch is fantastic - we had breakfast and dinner out there most days. The deck is nice, but there is no real shade out there. The chaise lounges are not really useful as there are no cushions.
The garage offers boogie boards and beach chairs to use. My only real complaint is that the beach is a bit further away than suggested by the VRBO description. It *is* a 5 minute bike ride, but not a 5 minute walk. So getting all your stuff to the beach is a little more involved than other houses I've rented on Kiawah. In the end, it's not a huge deal, but it's not quite as simple to pop down to the beach in a 5 minute walk.
The Coastal Getaways folks were really easy to deal with. There was no issue during our stay that we needed their assistance with as most things were anticipated by them and communicated. One other suggestion for the instructions that you send to guests - it took me a few minutes to locate exactly where the key lock box was (it's very subtly placed). Perhaps giving a little more info on that would help on check-in day. It was really nice to have that lock box available and not have to carry keys to the beach.
We saw several alligators behind the house on the lagoon which was fun - but keep kids away from the lagoon.
All in all, we had a great time at this property and would rent again.
Thank you Anne. We're so glad you and your family had a wonderful time at 20 Bulfflehead! It is a beautiful home and the owners keep it very well stocked. Thank you for taking the time to let us know your thoughts. We look forward to having you visit again! Enjoy the rest of your summer, Nancy
Our family of six has stayed at this wonderful house for the last three years and absolutely love it. It is perfect for our whole family, even our three adult children. They would not stay anywhere else at Kiawah. The screened porch is our favorite morning spot to gather with coffee at the start of each day, and watch the trees and the canal and just take in all of the beauty. Everything about this house is comfortable and perfectly done for a vacation home. We like to cook and the kitchen is perfectly equipped. The walk to the beach is short and lush, and the house is close to everything we need. We look forward to going back next fall!!!
Thank you Lennie. We're so glad you enjoyed yourselves - this is a beautiful home! It has been professionally decorate, the owners are continually updating items to make sure their friends and guests have a wonderful vacation. We look forward to having you visit again! Take care, Nancy
very nice house
NIce house in good central location to the island. Could have used an extra bathroom upstairs but other than that, well pleased.
This home is located beyond the second gate (Vanderhorst gate) on Kiawah Island on a quiet street in an exclusive neighborhood just a short distance from the beach.
