About Maureen Mittelstaedt

Brian and Maureen have been in the area for 35 years. Brian as a Chiropractor, Maureen as a Massage Therapist. We have come to love the Peninsula for its cycling, hiking, mountain biking and backpacking. Maureen grew up in Ohio, Brian in Tacoma.

Maureen Mittelstaedt purchased this apartment in 2008

Why Maureen Mittelstaedt chose Port Angeles

We built the home in 2008 on ten acres of land. We love our two dogs and Port Angeles has offered us all we need. The location is close to town yet has the feel of the country. With its quiet serene atmosphere summer days and nights are the highlights for living here. We love the easy and quick access to the trails in Olympic National Park. Star gazing can be done from hurricane Ridge, 17 miles away.

What makes this apartment unique

A pond is situated within steps from the door, a hot tub and steam room for your aching muscles after a hike. A piano is available for your playing pleasure. Enjoy the hot tub at night and gaze at the stars.

Lovely, spacious apartment in a rural setting

  • 5 of 5

The apartment is on the lower level of the house with its own entrance and parking. It is quite spacious and there is lots of light with windows facing the pond and property, and the occasional deer. My husband used the hot tub every day and I used the steam room. What a treat to have both! The kitchen had everything we needed, plus a large insulated bag we took with us on day trips. The location was perfect - just outside Olympic National Park and only 5-10 minutes from the ferry and downtown Port Angeles. We have used many vrbo homes, but this was the best one yet!

Quiet, private and clean

  • 5 of 5

This a single unit for rent on the property, ground level, and the owners place is above.

We heard no one over our 3 day stay. Quiet and peaceful with totally natural surroundings. Deer came through in the evening. Maureen keeps the place spotless. A modern tiled steam room in the unit has plenty of space for 2 and very user-friendly. Hot tub outside ready to go, though we did not use it. Other amenities were solid. (Heated floor throughout!)

Note: The place is out of town and up the highway into the foothills. No waterway access or views, and you must drive to any commercial area. Best suited for a chilled, tidy couple with their own itinerary and agenda. Regardless, you can seriously relax here!

Over the top

  • 5 of 5

This was the first time I used VRBO. I have to say that staying here set the bar very high. The place is close to the park and downtown yet a very nice country setting. The only thing I would have done differently would have been to increase my stay to have more down time in this awesome location.

  • 5 of 5

The apartment was located on 10 acres and was very private but minutes from ONP and town. Not only was the setting beautiful, the apartment was first class with beautiful decor, well equipped kitchen, a hot tub and steam room. Maureen was a wonderful host . We loved all the beauty of ONP . We hiked, biked and swam in Crescent Lake .

Quiet, cozy country bungalow

  • 5 of 5

This was a perfect place to stay while exploring the Olympic Peninsula! The apartment was just the right size, clean, cozy, comfy, and just far enough from town to fit the outdoorsy vacation we were looking for. We cooked dinners in to save money and the kitchen appliances were well stocked for everything we did. It was nice to soak in the hot tub after a long day of cycling. There was also a steam room, which we didn't have time to use. This place is minutes from Hurricane Ridge (a beautiful hike), a bit more than an hour to the coast and about two from the rainforest. It has everything! Would highly recommend this cozy home!
