About the property

2 Bedroom, 2 Bath, Sleeps 6, 2 blocks to the beach, 3 houses from Misson Bay

Welcome to Island Paradise, our vacation rental home in Mission Beach, San Diego, California.

Located on one of Mission Beach's beautiful 'Courts' (tree lined walkways), our home is the perfect place for you to experience the beach life that San Diego and Mission Beach are so famous for.

This first floor, condo style home features two bedrooms, each with its own private bathroom. Each room sleeps two with one room having a queen bed (the master bedroom) and the other room having two twin beds. The master bathroom has a shower and the other bathroom has a shower/tub combination. Both bedrooms include a TV and Blu-ray/DVD player.

The central living area combines the Kitchen, Dining Room and Living Room into one open, flowing space perfect for any and all group activities. For you viewing pleasure and entertainment, there is a wide screen TV with Blu-ray/DVD player. All TVs in the home are connected to a full cable package with HBO. Also, high speed wireless internet is provided.

One of the best features of our vacation rental home is the private front patio located right off the living room. As you can see from the pictures, this is the perfect place to relax after a long day at the beach or touring around San Diego. Plenty of chairs to lounge around on while you fire up the gas grill to cook the evening dinner.

Two other feature of note: there is one parking space off the alley at the back of the unit. It is space #1 and is well marked. It is the space that, when looking at the three spaces, is the one farthest to the left.

There is also a laundry closet that is located outside the front door of the home. It is coin-operated.

Our lovely vacation rental is centrally located in the heart of Mission Beach, convenient to so many of the beach activities that San Diego is famous for. One block to the east you will find the quiet beaches of Mission Bay. Its calm waters are perfect for paddle boarding, lounging on an inner tube or watching the little ones play in the sand.

Just two blocks to the west is Mission Beach, one of San Diego's premier beaches. Inviting wide swaths of sand stretch out to both the north and the south. Bring your surf boards, boogie boards, beach gear, and bathing suits. Along the beach stretches the boardwalk where you can roller blade, walk, jog, bike, or just hang out to watch the people go by. Just to the north you will find many Mission Beach landmarks such as the Crystal Pier, or the Green Flash Restaurant (I recommend the Huevos Rancheros for breakfast); stop at the Lahaina Beach Bar (great patio deck overlooking the beach) for burgers and beer. To the south a couple of blocks you will find the famous Wave House and Belmont Park full of amusement park rides (including the Belmont Park Roller Coaster), perfect for kids young and old.

Moving out a little farther you will find the Sea World Aquatic and Amusement Park (walking distance for the hearty walker or you may want to take your car), home of many famous marine mammal shows, sea life exhibits, games, and rides. Fireworks every night during the summer.

Mission Bay to the east provides a veritable cornucopia of activities. Rentals for jet skis, water ski boats, paddle boats, also available are dinner cruises. Pick up a charter for a deep sea fishing adventure , picnic at one of the local parks, or watch the Sea World fireworks from Fiesta Island.

San Diego is not just about the beach. The world famous San Diego Zoo is just a short trip to Balboa Park. You would be hard pressed to find a better zoo. Or check out its companion zoo, The Wild Animal Park in Escondido (north of San Diego) where many of the animals roam free.

Downtown San Diego offers a vibrant night life including Padres baseball in their downtown ballpark, the Gas Lamp District with its multitudes of restaurants, bars and entertainment venues.

Looking for adventures in hiking and nature, check out the nearby Mission Trails Park or head east to Cuyamaca State park and climb Stonewall Peak. Poway offers numerous trails and great hikes up Iron Mountain or Mount Woodson. For those who want to brag that they snow skied in the morning and surfed in the evening, try out the mountain resort of Big Bear (3 hours north) for a day on the ski slopes.

What ever you are looking for, you can probably find it here in San Diego. So, please come join us in one of America's finest cities. As we tell our relatives back east when they ask us how the weather is, all we can say is it is just another boring day in paradise!

About Chris

We have been living in San Diego for a number of years now. After a life of a lot of travel, both domestic and overseas, my family has decided that San Diego is our final home. The balance of work, weather, culture, and activities made it clear that there is no where else that we would rather live.

Chris purchased this condo in 2013

Why Chris chose San Diego County

We looked for the perfect vacation home in the Mission Beach area of San Diego for 18 months, waiting for just the right place to come along. Why so picky? Well, we wanted a home that would provide a great vacation experience for the people who would trust their vacation to our home, and we wanted a place that we could eventually retire to. We picked a place that is convenient to all that Mission Beach has to offer and has the amenities that make a beach stay wonderful.

What makes this condo unique

The patio on the front of the unit makes this home just perfect for us, and we hope for you, too. The patio extends the living space of this home out into a very relaxing area.

Great location - exactly where we wanted to be!!

  • 5 of 5

Comfortable place near many popular areas. Easy drive to the zoo, SeaWorld and the park. Condo itself sleeps 4 possibly 5 comfortably but 6 is a stretch. Pull out sofa uncomfortable so we left it as couch to sleep on & doubled up in a twin: ( All in all was great place to discover San Diego as well as relax. Would stay again for sure.

Owner's Response: I really appreciate your review. Many of the guests choose to stay at my condo because of its location. It is a very short walk to Belmont Park and like you mentioned, very easy to get to many San Diego destinations. The pull-out couch in the living room is queen-sized and should sleep 2 comfortably. I have hosted 6 guests many times and many of them are all adults or some are with teenagers. With that said, a pull-out couch is never going to be as comfortable as a bed but serves its purpose. Hope to be able to host you all again in the near future!

Exactly as advertised and great for our family. If you have young children and looking for a place within a perfect location, you've found it here!

Steps from the bay and a short walk to the ocean, this rental has everything you need to enjoy the beach.

Owner's Response: I really appreciate your review. There is a pack-n-play and high chair that guests can use at no extra cost (provided upon request). My condo is only 3 houses from Mission Bay; the water is calmer than Mission Beach and is more suitable for young children. I am glad my condo meets your needs and expectation. Hope to see you back soon!

Awesome property!

  • 5 of 5

This is a great property and we will definitely stay here again. Close to everything...Mission Beach, Mission Bay, and Belmont Park.

Having a parking spot was a huge benefit. Good sized patio for hanging out and entertaining. The added landscaping provided some privacy compared to other places we saw while there. The interior is very modern and comes with practically everything you need. Having two full bathrooms was a plus. The beach towels, toys, chairs and umbrellas provided were an added bonus. We have zero complaints other than wishing we had stayed longer!

I was a little disappointed in the floors being sticky and dirty and the the BBQ was REALLY gross and dirty, but everything else was good and we enjoyed our stay.

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for your review. I am very sorry that the condition of my condo was not satisfactory. I strive for the best experience for my guests, and I am disappointed that it didn't for you. My cleaning staff and I will make sure that details are more closely examined. Hope to see you back.
