Best vacation spot EVER!!!
We arrived home a few hours ago and I was so excited to have the opportunity to write my review. From the surrounding beauty of nature at its fall best, to the oversized Better Homes and Gardens luxurious towels, this place was made for relaxing. We fished several times. I caught my very first rainbow trout!! My husband, of course, caught the biggest and the most, but hey, who cares. It was awesome!! We didn't do much cooking, but that kitchen is equipped for any meal one might want to cook. I was on vacation too, so we ate out most of the time.
The king-sized bed was so comfortable, and the gas fireplace was a pleasant surprise. We were there for seven wonderful days and I can't think of any place I'd rather make a return visit to.
We're both in our 70's and loved that it wasn't a steep, slippery climb to the river, so fishing was easy for us. We saw a nonpoisonous water snake ingesting a frog or something on the rocks, but we didn't bother him and he didn't bother us. After his meal was ingested, he left. We also watched a large heron catch and eat a small rainbow trout across the creek while we fished. Late one afternoon, I happened to look out the window in the very nicely appointed laundry room, that I wish I could take back to my house, and watched a flock of 10 wild turkeys crossing the yard. I can't describe how peaceful and quiet it was there.
Apparently, there was some damage to the railroad track across the river, during one of the rainstorms that came through and the twice-daily train run didn't happen so we only saw it a couple of times. It only runs during the day and if you're inside, it's not disturbing. I'm really into adult coloring and it didn't even make me color outside the line.
I just want to thank the owner, James, for making this piece of paradise available for vacation renters. It was spotlessly clean, comfortable, quiet and the location is absolutely perfect. We've vacationed in the Blue Ridge, Ga. area for several years, and I'm just sorry it took us so long to find The River House! Try it, you'll like it.

Great view.... excellent fishing location..
Really enjoyed the cabin. View was excellent...best fishing location where creek and river meet. Only issue I had was the road to cabin. We had to drive through water to access cabin. At night it looks too deep to drive through. I had to get out and walk through it to see that it was shallow. Other than that I loved it. Cabin was super clean and cozy.
Spacious Home, well maintained and equipped on a beautiful Riverfront
We spent 4 wonderful days and nights relaxing and enjoying this beautiful home on Toccoa River. We fished everyday and caught alot of trout. The house was well equipped with more than we needed. There is a large porch , outdoor grills and the entire property well maintained. The view of the river and the fall foliage is spectacular. We even watched the train from across the river as it passed by daily. Overall a perfect vacation that we definitely want to repeat in the near future.
My boys and I stayed here and had a great time. The yard was plenty big enough for them to run energy off. Great fishing spot or just sit and enjoy the view. The place was clean and comfortable. I would stay here again!
Amazng River House in North Georgia
From the moment we walked in the front door till we closed it for the last time we felt so relaxed and more like we were honored friends than paying guest. We did not want to leave but alas real life demands attention.
The "cabin" is beautiful and on an amazing river that gave us many hours of relaxation.
You will only need your personal stuff and some groceries to have a beautiful vacation away from everything.
Campfires every night (buy some wood), rocking on the deck in very comfortable chairs, and seeing the scenic blue ridge train across the river were some of the things we enjoyed.
We did venture into town which was lovely and quaint. We highly recommend Treos restaurant in Blue Ridge, never a better steak!!
Thank you James for a lovely mini vaca. Hope to be back in the future.
